Federal Pacific panels are scary, but they still make them, and are pasted, man i hate them, how they pass is beyond me. I do not even like them, now called Stab lock, i have seen the pins on 15 amp breakers burn off, now tell me how that can happen in a new panel, not enough amp draw to pop a 15 amp breaker but yet burn the contact on the breaker off. This is on new FP or now known as stablock. to me the contact it to loss, the breakers fall out even though they were, put in right.
The said part of this is, it is not been done by no handy man. I have seen much of this, that was done by a so called electric company and pasted by the utility company inspector, well so called inspector, because like I said in a past comment, the inspectors were not any good as a utility electrician so they made them in to an inspector, and they do not know what there even looking at
Another good video. You seem to do very good.! I am just wondering is if you get paid as you deserve. I quit doing service calls and similar work because of CHEAP people - spent more time collecting than working!
I have some pretty good paying customers but there are some cheap skates out there. The problem comes when people undercut you to get the job.One thing I have learned over the years is"this is my price" and don't settle for less.
Although apparently the FPE wasn't the problem here, although FPE panels (in my opinion) should always be replaced when encountered. Very imbalanced indeed. Makes me wonder why the 100amp fuse for B didn't blow (or was it and they kept replacing it... hmm)
@sparkyUonline Look like a heating device like a stove or heat lamp was causing the problem theres nothing unbalanced about this panel other than that. Tell me what looks unbalanced just from your first look at the panel? The 2 50 a breakers on the right side?NO! It takes 220 to feed a 2 pole breaker and it doesn't matter what side they are on It side utilizes BOTH bus bars.Which would be A and B phase. And there should be no return load with 220 which is why theres no need for a neutral.BALANCED!

@dennisdamenace214You should read my earlier comment on the unbalanced load.It will help you in the future.Common mistake for a lot of uneducated electricians. You should also read up on the "Demand Factor".
@dennisdamenace214 why is it overloaded? he said its coming off 100 amp fuses and look there's over 150 amps just in breakers on the B phase. Glad you can get rid of all the electrical gremlins while sitting at your computer

im just saying that if the wiere were the same guage but made of aluminum this whole place could of cought fier by now . i hope to see more interesting videos by you
@sparkyUonline No its FED P and the breaks just don't trip like they should. A piece of equipment is failing and the breaker isn't doing its job!PERIOD! Its more than likely one of the 50's.The first thing I would have done is pulled a Amp reading on all 4 of the 50 amp breaker legs to see if they were balanced.
Hey canada
U. S. has failed f.p.e junk for years.
you canada guys plaster all over electrical posts, canada still use fpe but is some other name or something.
Well what does that tell you?
The wire used in states is plenty good, technology for wire has been good for years. It is the devices that have problems ,thats why we kicked
Fpe,zensco, screw in fuses to the curb.yet I see you guys from snow land defending fpe panels.
The only thing fpe type panels are good for are dumpster divers.

In Canada USA wire cannot pass our code, what does that tell you?

@mrfanman2u The disconnect was obviously to far from the panel.

Ya cant tell its unbalanced by a temp prob.
Looks like the lug was loose.
Did you clamp an amp meter on it? Didnt think so.
Why do you say its overloaded?
Why do you say its unbalanced?
Because a lug has burnt?
Please give more info of your ideas why its unbalanced and overloaded.
dennisdamenace214 2 years ago
Shut off panel-lugs tight
100 amp main 61amps a-phase 110 amps b-phase
see above
What makes you think I would not have taken a amp reading???
LOOKS like the lugs were loose,How can you tell from a picture???
