I think the striding might have been a bit long for your horse's size. It was probably set as a bounce for a horse with a 12-foot stride, but you're on what looks like a bit of a smaller horse. Good job sticking with it and making him get over it, just either amp up his impulsion or move the jumps closer!
People are being suuuch bitches about this video. Lol, when I first started jumping, I let my mare get away with A LOT of stuff. It's a horrible habit, but actually with use of bounces (the one in the video seems too wide) your horse absolutely HAS to concentrate to get over all of them. That helped my horse get over jumps. But yeah, you were letting your horse get away, but it happens to us at least once. I'm sure you have improved a lot since this video! :)
@libby44449 Dude, look at the video, I had a crop lol. And I did use it, thanks. How am I teaching him a bad habit? He refused a couple times and I got him over it. How is that teaching him a bad habit?
He has talent! I dont know many horses that can run out of a bounce :D GUYS, THERE WERE OTHER HORSES IN THE LESSON, SO THE BOUNCE STRIDE HAD TO BE RIGHT FOR THEM-PROBS WHY IT WASNT RIGHT FOR THIS SMALL STRIDED PONYYYY
nice everything... but you need to stop giving up(exactly what my instructor would say!) its obvious that you could have done it first time you are that good.
Im not critisizing, but i think the jumps are too far apart for him , if he keeps on putting an extra stride in most of the time hes probably confused as to whether put a stride in or refuse ... again not critisizing as its a lovely horse and ur a very good rider , im just trying to say maybe the jumps should be closer together xx
@chloefrizzy ohh yeah I know you're not criticizing. :P yeah the jumps were too far apart. it was set up right for the other horses in the lesson but dakota has a really short stride so he fit one in. we did move them closer together but it made for some funny bloopers the first couple times we tried it. that's why I didn't get mad at him, it wasn't hist fault xD
@Spheett hahaha woops i accadentally said *over* i meant oxer...haha i think u knew tht tho!...and haha a bit lazy?...theres a horse at my barn whos as laazyy as can be...snd jumps the jumps small but rushes them lol
uhg... all these negative comments.
In the end it doesn't matter if they didn't go over it as a bounce, but that the horse jumped it in the end.

1. a bounce is when the horse lands and straight away jumps the next one...that was a double
2. you let your horse off try carrying a whip, it can help just holding one

1. If you read the desc. or the annotation in the beginning I explain that it was supposed to be a bounce but Dakota kept putting in an extra stride.
2. I did have a crop, look at the video, lol. And yeah, I used it. How did I let the horse off? We got over it didn't we?
