  • I love this its so inspiring

  • did any body else notice the skull in the clouds?? XD (cool song btw XD)

  • I had no idea this was a Christian band until just recently, but ever since I found that out I love it even more! Glory to God in the highest!

  • <3 this song so mcuh

  • "Answer me, please.........."

That line is exactly what I said when I was lying in a hospital bed cursing god and questioning everything I ever knew. This song echos so much of what I have felt sense that night.

  • @jekyllnhydebaby Do you still feel this way?

  • @7792thereaper yes, i do

  • @jekyllnhydebaby The thing that you don't understand is that there is a reason that everything happens. Whenever something goes wrong I thank God because His plan for my day is better than mine. He knows what's best for me. And for everyone else. I've been through a lot in my life too and things always turned out alright in the end, and the worst thing that ever happened to me actually turned into a blessing after it was over. There's a reason that everything happens.

  • @7792thereaper things haven't always turned out right for me

  • @jekyllnhydebaby Things don't always seem right, but in the end it's for the best in one way or another.

  • I'm in love with this song!

  • I'm not Christian, nor do I claim affiliation to any other religion. But this song and this band are every bit as beautiful for those who struggle to some purpose in their life.

  • MY CRUSH

Y U NO GIVE ME THE MEANS TO BELIEVE ?!

  • I love the Plato reference. So good <3

  • @KyrosinX WHERE is the Plato reference in this song? The prospect itself just blows my mind.

  • @MetalCrusade777 "If I'm to find the sun, I need something more than song to pull me from this cave of questioning." EH EH EH Allegory of the Cave!

  • LOL at god.

  • @BulletFMVal88 LOL at how you are intentionally trying to piss people off with that comment.

  • @DodgerBL Nope. Personal belief: LOL at God.

  • i love this song because it reminds me of the old songs they used to write about how perfect god is and how we need to look towards him for guidance and stufffffffff haha

  • i am by no means religious but i admire their passion of their faith and their creativity that enables them to speak their mind to use and still kind of relate... they are an amazing band <3

  • This is song is amazing!!

    I love this song :D

  • this is about questioning faith but at the same time, this song is a prayer. read the lyrics because the is by meaning by paragraphs and not sentences. That is how Oh, Sleeper wrote it.

  • This song is obviously about him questioning his faith.I dont know what you people are talking about.

  • God is awesome!

  • From watching his interview on the album. I believe this song is the moment in the album where the point of view changes from the christian father who has been losing his faith up until now, to the atheist daughter who is just starting to embrace her faith which is mixed in with confusion, questions, and doubts and no one to guide her through the right path.

  • How does even 1 person dislike this...?

  • this song kills the album, should be at the end and dont stop the power of the album in the middle.

  • @Shyftus sorry buddy, you are what i consider an immature listener of good music.

  • @ThePestilentDefiler you dont understand, i like the song, but it is in the wrong spot :)

  • I'm atheist but I like this band and song. i respec that if somebody believes in god.

  • you could listen to this song 100 different times and interepret it in 100 different ways. shut up and enjoy

  • Amazing power, a song for all those searching...

  • @TeeTownVideos I feel like the song implies some hypocritical meaning with how they say, "standing for your God by becoming something so far off..." like they mean you're doing things apart from how you make them seem to be. Do you know what i mean?

  • @Legendman120 I see you're point, I think... By doing what you think is right in order to gain strength may just be leading you farther from your true self.

  • is this christian metal??? please answer me

  • @Skinnazation Oh, Sleeper is a Christian Metal, (i like to call it hardcore since it has more of a beat than trashy death metal) but they have a few slow songs. If you listen to the rest of their album, Children of Fire, you'll see that most of their songs are hardcore, or "metal"

  • @TeeTownVideos is that true

  • @TeeTownVideos i hope you mean thrashy and not trashy!

  • @SodaPoptheDewMan naw i meant trashy but i guess i was kinda vague. I meant that i don't like music where all they do is just scream their heads off with no purpose or beat to the song. Personally I HATE that kind of music.

  • BEST OH SLEEPER SONG EVER ON CHILDERN OF FIRE THIS SONG BEATS ANY OTHER BANDS OF ALL TIME

  • First time I hear it, it will give my music sharper edge and calming, thick sound, I believe.

  • this song gave me chills. Im obsessed with his voice... no homo

  • @XxtreehuggerX101x "The lion will lay down with the lamb" is a quote from Isaiah 11 in the Bible. Both Twilight and Oh, Sleeper are alluding to this verse. However, Oh Sleeper is more than a million times better. xD

  • Proverbs 3

  • For all the people who are confused about this song, its about the doubts that satan and your mind will tell you. Dont you see the irony is very powerful in this song beacuse your mind always tries to doubt the power of God. "You gave me a voice that speaks out, but paired it with a mind thats filled with doubt" "I cant change what I am, Lions always kill the Lambs" Basically your mind tells yourself that your chance of changing your bad ways is as far off as lions not killing lambs.

  • @TeeTownVideos That is stupid as shit.

  • @getintoawheelchair How? You dont like Christian music?

  • @getintoawheelchair If you were a Christian you wouldnt think so, because you would actually understand it.

  • @TeeTownVideos Thank you for that explanation. I knew that this song was deeply philosophical, and I knew it had a pretty important meaning so I favorited it, but I couldn't figure out what he was trying to say in this song. (there's no sarcasm here, I really appreciate you taking the time to help explain the lyrics, and helping give people a deeper understanding of the song's meaning.)

  • @Drumwannabe17 No problem man :) TBH im still a little confused on a small section of the song, but i do understand the basic meaning of it, if you know what i mean

  • @TeeTownVideos woah...thats deep o_o

  • Not many bands can scream and sing as well as he does.

  • @imakiya1 Shane Blay only does the cleans while Micah Kinard does the screams. It's not the same dude.

  • I love this song <3 I'm going to make a cover, asap.

  • No one can save you from it, only yourself being strong enough to break the habits that drag you below! I prayed for everyone with the same problems as me in the world the other day, maybe my prayer was for you too! Take care, hope you find yourself and get there! Cause everyone can if we can learn to fly with planes we can overcome an addiction!

  • @eddiemet12 I'm going through the same thing brother hence my account name... I was shooting up roxies, meth, snorting pills. Just look up to the sky to god and deal with the pain you can get through it cause I'm on the way to being who god meant for me to be! I promise bro your not alone, I know the pain is horrible and makes you anxious and paranoid. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I've had so many i.v.'s in my arms because of all the drugs so many times I shouldn't be here....

  • This is a concept album about the world after God fights Satan. The character speaking these lines was originally an atheist who begins to seek God for the first time. As she tries to figure all of these things out, she has a lot of questions and has to come to grips with the fact that she cannot understand every aspect.

  • This song just changed my life.

  • <3

  • I don't understand, what's the vocalist talking about???????

  • @MrJazzblue not sure if that's sarcasm or not, so i'll answer anyway. he's talking about the skepticism a lot of people face with believing in god. like why does he allow bad things to happen to people, would he embrace the dead who didn't believe in him before they died, etc.

  • @MrJazzblue he's talking about God, and expressing his doubts with god and etc, he's talking to God in the song, when he say's "you" he's referring to God.

  • @XxtreehuggerX101x This comment should be deleted on the account it compares Oh Sleeper and Twilight.

  • A shout out to all my Christian brothers and sisters out there

I would like to ask for you to pray for me for I am struggling with a bad habit

    God bless thank you

  • @eddiemet12 Bro, I was right where you are 11 months ago. I had a raging Heroin addiction and I felt so hopeless. I literally wanted to, and tried to die. I had tried almost everything for 5 years to get clean, but I just kept going back to my old habits. It wasn't until I looked to my Higher Power for help that I actually managed to get sober. If you ever need someone to talk to man, hit me up. And remember, it IS possible to get better, and it's not as hopeless as it mght seem.

  • @eddiemet12 of course man (=.

  • @eddiemet12 u ever need anything get ahold of me good luck to ur battle!!

  • @eddiemet12 Praying for you bro! im in the same boat!

  • @eddiemet12

The Lord is calling you out, hun! Whatever it may be, just remember: with God all things are possible! Look to the Father, let go of your burdens, and He will carry them for you. Put all of the energy that usually goes to your "unholy" desires into knowing Christ better and having a stronger relationship, and He will become your desire, what you long for... just know that your energy will not be wasted there, for He is longing for you. May your soul find peace.

    ~♥~

  • @eddiemet12

just remember, faith is not one sided, it needs to be two sided, both your side and our side. if you have no doubts you could say to a mountain "Throw yourself in the sea" and it will do so, but even a sliver of doubt, even doubt the size of a quark, the smallest know particle, is enough to keep it from being so

  • @eddiemet12 RESPECT! 125 people already did that! Good luck!

  • @eddiemet12 no problem bro

  • @eddiemet12 i got your back bro. may god bless you.

  • @eddiemet12 same with me man

    God Bless

    your in my prayers :)

  • @eddiemet12 I hope you fail!!

  • If someone could like me a explanation of the story explaining each song that would be great, I would really like too understand this album better, it's beautiful

  • At least that's what I see. This album is telling the stories of everyone. They leave no stone unturned with this one.

  • @rainStormBaby They repeat some of this in The Family Ruin, all their music seems to piece together in every album like every song completing each other. It's incredible if you ask me :)

  • @Pandap0wer It's totally incredible. These people are amazing musicians. They're the best christian hardcore band I've ever heard. Best hardcore band altogether if you ask me. lol

  • This song is written from the mouth of someone having doubts, or are confused.

  • deep.

  • I hope I'm not coming off as a jerk. I'm just stating what Ive heard/know. I'm not trying to start a debate or anything. I love Oh Sleeper and you do too so :D

  • But I've also been to Oh Sleeper shows and they've all acknowledged Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. And they hope to get the message of the Gospel out to people at their shows, that's why they are in this band.

  • How can they ignore/ acknowledge something that doesn't exist? If you believe there's a higher power, then you're no longer atheist; you're agnostic. That's all I'm saying.

  • @pmusicmaker regardless, it is a great song.

  • *acknowledging them. my bad

  • plus why would an atheist guitarist write a song to God? doesn't that contradict itself?

  • @pmusicmaker idk its what i was told. it sounds like he wants to believe, but cant find the means to.

and are you saying all atheists should ignore God or Alah or Yawei or whatever is out there, just because acknowledging about them is a contradiction, especially when all your bandmates do?

  • i struggle. i doubt. this song helps me through it.

  • such a touching song

  • Is this song from the atheistic daughters point of view or the turning away priests point of view...I think the daughter right? Pleading with God to give her a sign?

  • @pmusicmaker its the atheist guitarist of oh sleeper who wrote this song. he's the one singing too.

  • @br0what no i mean in the story of the album. I'm pretty sure there are all die hard christians in the band

  • A person that I'm trying to get to know better told me about this song. Now I've got another reason to like, trust and miss that person :)

  • *_______*

  • i just want to point this out are you sure they say sun or do they say son as in the son of God Jesus? when you made the lyrics

  • @plamer1fan They mean the son of God When he says if im to find the sun i need something more than song to pull me from this cave of questioning, The way that i see is the Son is Jesus the son of God is our shepard and the holly spirit is the Shepard's cane and God is the father of the Shepard and all of his of his sheep. The Cave of questioning is satans reign on the earth, There for Satan is like an wolf in sheep's clothing in the wilde trying to steer us away from our Shepard and Father.

  • Love the song but I am not 100% sure what it is about can someone explain

  • @eddiemet12

the whole album tells a story and this song is where the person that they are using as perspective is talking about how God doesnt make sense to him because of contradictions in the bible(even tho these contradictions are about the metaphoric symbols like "the Lion and the Lamb" and etc.)

  • @Duckman118 thank you for putting As I Laying Dying in that group!!! everyone always forgets them...

  • Oh, Sleeper is now my new obsession.

  • @XxJaggedJessxX

Me too! Their songs became my obsession when I heard Son of the Morning...amazing album, amazing band, and Children of Fire is really awesome!

  • @XxJaggedJessxX Same here! I feel awkward cause like 1/2 of my facebook statuses are Oh, Sleeper lyrics XD

  • i'm in love with the new oh, sleeper

  • @FuneralforaFriend909 not new. this is just oh, sleeper.

  • @RageFueled damn their new stuff any good?

  • @FuneralforaFriend909 lol this is new stuff, i mean that they havent changed. this is just oh sleeper lol

  • @whatsthatnoisemane Ah I see, thanks man :P sick album eh?

  • I dont understand this song XD

  • The one person who disliked this tried to brave the open sea with no sail, and dropped their Children Of Fire album in the water :(

  • Every Metalcore band should have a solid acoustic song like this. I also love how Oh, Sleeper doesnt do Breakdown after breakdown. August Burns Red, Killswitch Engage, As i Lay Dying, All That Remains, and Oh, Sleeper are by far the best metalcore bands

  • This song falls nothing short of amazing. need I say more?

  • One person rather listen to reggeaton and inhale cocaine like a wannabe gangster.

  • This song is pure beauty. Brings me to the verge of tears every time.

  • i demand whoever disliked this song to undislike it! its AMAZING!

  • The one person that disliked this is soulless.

  • what this song about??

  • @StopTheClip This song is about a man questioning his faith in God. Knowing there is more than what he has know, but not knowing how to find it.

  • @Ryuujin09 is it the father's point of view or the Daughters?

  • @StopTheClip Daughters

  • @Ryuujin09 its not the man its the daughter.

  • How can someone dislike this?

  • the whole album came through my subscription notification thingy... i dont know the band so i picked one song to listen to randomly - i chose this and its by far the best on the album..

  • Does anyone know the tabs for this song, or know where I can find them? I figured out the first bit, with the fingerpicking. But everything after that I'm pretty clueless on, haha :P

  • @AbbehRose someone who got the pre-order tab book has probably put it up on a site. If you can't find a good one I'll try and put it up when I get mine.

  • @blackearth153 Oh wow, there was a tab book if you pre-ordered it?? I really regret not doing that now ): And I have looked for the tabs online already, but I literally can't find anything.

  • @AbbehRose really that's unusual. So many people must be practicing the songs so they haven't had time to put it up yet, or their just selfish. Plus it takes a while to write out tabs.

  • Song is amazing, talks about faith and doubt, to understand this song I recommend reading the books of luke and john in the bible, some of the lyrics are those exact parables.

  • The perfect "means to believe" is the Bible + History + Quantum Physics = Obvious God exists. I love Oh Sleeper in every way. Amazing band and amazing guys. I attribute the brilliance of their new album to God...and "Chet" of course...

  • @ghostgate82 I really don't know if you know about anything about quatum phasics but it does totally not prove gods existence. But where I must agree with you is that this band is awesome even if i can't indentify with their belives. But the sound is still really powerfull.

  • @BracDav If I didn't know anything about quantum physics, I wouldn't have brought it up. When two different people look at the same thing but have two diametrically opposed pre-conceived understandings, that one piece of evidence may seem "different" depending on the belief of the person. I say QP proves God's existence because I know the MARKERS to look for while studying QP because of my theological and science background. You obviously don't have a theological background.

  • @ghostgate82 Well yes is is like that. But you need to see that science with theological background has absolute now kind of scientific value, no offense to you but science isn't about personal feelings. It is and should be only about rational fact.

The same is for people who wanna disprove god with science. This is not possible because you can only do one thing at a time either thelogy or science. So I would say both side need to know what they can and can't do. It's just that simple...

  • @BracDav lol I'm afraid its not "just that simple." There is a scientific explanation for everything. There most certainly IS a God, your God. Your statement is quite bold, and utterly obtuse friend. ghostgate is right on... couldn't have said it better myself. People who desire to be associated with the scientific community but lack the education and frontal lobe to do so often make the same bold statement, because they are afraid of what cannot yet be explained.

  • @wesleyryanjohnson It occurs to me that you know nothing about science and scientists. Why we should be afraid of those things we are not yet able to explain? It is quite much our job to find things that we do not understand now and try to find explanations. And therefore god is as unimportant as he is irelevant for science because the hypothesis of god works only as long as he can no be explained scietificly by definition.

  • @BracDav Some things that can't be proven wrong are said to be true, such as the theory of relativity, Also love, and yes, God too.

  • @hobojoe102 Well there you are just wrong. There are expriments which clearly could prove the theory of relativity. And love will be or is at least partly understood neuro biology. And yes the only point where you are right is that god is not to prove with the methods of science. Because of that a clearly stated before that god is completly irrelevant for science. What doesn't mean god couldn't exist. But by terms of probabillity god is quite improbable in the eyes of true science and scientists

  • @BracDav To play the devils advocate here...from a Biblical standpoint that is... Why would you say God is irrelevant to science when He would be in fact the maker of what we know as science? Wouldnt that make Him completely relevant? How can science answer how the earth/universe/humans were made with logical probabilities? Faith in this case would be more important then what we would consider "facts" and faith is what being a Christian is all about.

  • @Estel2931 I see what you want to do. No, I will not go on a debate on evolution or creationism (or intelligent design or however you call the same thing over and over again). It is not because I would have not enough arguments. But sorry in this question there is no real discussing in it. Because it would create the misbelieve that creationism and such things are even worth to dispute by real scientists. But i is just not a topic for science but for theology like a said before.

  • @BracDav

God and Science actually work hand in hand, not against each other

  • @VulgarIniquities So there is the point where we always will have another opinion... And that what is the most important part to get. All we can have as human are opinions. Such a thing as absolute truth a human never will have. Thereby also important is to see that a true scientist always will say that hes in a process to approximate the truth, while relegion state to have the absolute truth and this is nothing but arrogant.

  • @VulgarIniquities I do not refuse that probably some kind of god would not work with science. But the christian god (along with Allah and Yahweh) do really not work with science. Well this is probably to harsh also. Because those gods in it self probably do not but with a lot of the tales in the specific holy books do and will never work hand in hand with science.

  • @BracDav

    think of it this way:

if God created the universe, He already proved He can go against what science says is impossible. a God is the only way things in the bible can be possible and science can prove that the universe has to have a God.

btw, Yahweh and Allah is the Christian/Judaic God. Yahweh is the Hebrew name and Allah is the Arabic name

  • @BracDav Fun fact: Science is a branch of Philosophy.

  • @shesatwitcher I know this. But i don't really see what this statement brings new to this discussion. I would be glad if you would explain further what you meant to say with it.

  • @VulgarIniquities What god are you worshiping? Cant be any that actually exist, that's for sure.

  • @SPitFyRe666

He has many names...pick one; Yahweh, Allah, Jehova, I AM, etc.

  • @VulgarIniquities They all sound like bullshit to me.

  • @SPitFyRe666

well through scientific research i found that there has to be a being working outside the governing laws of the universe, aka, a god of some sort. ive researched the bible, finding it to be historically correct. such things as the "Red Sea Crossing" have had much supporting evidence found in the last hundred years

  • @VulgarIniquities You have to be kidding. There is no way a human being can be this ignorant... You just went full retard.

  • @SPitFyRe666 This band is christian & they project that in their songs, if you have a problem with that, I have an amazingly simple solution DON'T LISTEN. There problem solved and it's a win-win, you don't have a problem with the message their spreading and we don't have to deal with you.

  • @SPitFyRe666 Not really. Because I know that you live to make people mad over the internet, which just screams out coward, who can't do confrontations face to face. Sincerely someone with a bachelors degree in psychology.

  • @fromlightcomesshadow I love that you just throw it out there that you "have" a Bachelors in Psychology. We all know that's a load of shit. Try getting a real degree.

  • Breath taking. Speechless. mind blowing. need i say more?

  • this song is just amazing :O
