Why do people care where their guitar is made (other than to support your local facrtory). I'm swapping out my collection for Hagstrom's because they offer the best value for money and they play just as well if not better then their over priced cousin's and they ooze tone. What more do you want???
They're made in China. The old Hagstoms said "Made in Sweden" on 'em. The newer ones say "Swedish design". I have a Swede tremar, has a whammy like a Bigsby but stays in tune MUCH better due to roller bridge saddles and a graphite nut. I have 4 Gibsons I'll probably put on ebay because all I ever play is the Hag. Chinese or not, great guitar.
Hey ladies I just bought an ultra swede today and it is made in china And I think they make good stuff this little axe makes fender custom shops look like crap believe me I have fenders
You've got skills but I'm sure you're aware of that. I do have a question...do you have stock 58's pups in that swede or did you put the seymours in. Also, what are you playing thru? Thanks
Thanks for the info. Where are the new Hagstroms made? I heard they were mass produced in China. Are they? Or maybe hand built? It seems that they forgot to add that to their website.
It says "made in germany" on the back of mine. And on wikipedia it says that the vintage guitars were made in sweden, yes. But nowdays the guitars are not made in china, they were for a while but hagstrom had problems with the quality on the china guitars so nowdays they're made in germany.
I don't think that is true because I recently purchased a Hagstrom Select Swede with Golden Eagle finish and guess what...it said "Made in China". I just purchased a new Ultra Swede just like the one in this video and this one also says "Made in China'. There might be a slight possibility that they also have a Plant in Germany but I couldn't find anything online about that. Every info I found so far states that they're made in China.
Yes i may be wrong. Actually, when i look closer i only have a "quality label" from germany, but thats probably couse its bought in germany. Thats all i can find. cant find a "made in..." mark :S
Yeah man they're not made in Germany otherwise it would be easy to find info. online but there is nothing that indicates that they are made in Germany so we have to rule that out. Hagstrom had their accordions made in Germany for a while in the 70's and 80's before the Asian market took over and put them out of business but now they're back.
There must have been a sticker on the heel of the neck where the neck and body connect but it might have been taken off (no explanation for that one). There is also a 'CE' sticker on the back of headstock. It's no big deal man...everyone makes mistakes.
@Stephanepilette It's been a while since I commented on this video. Since then I've gotten the exact same model and have replaced all the wiring as well as the pickups with Seymour Duncan JB in bridge and Jazz in neck. I must say it blows away Epiphone Les Paul by far but then again it is all in the feeling as well as the taste. Your video helped me choose the Ultra Swede I wanted. The spalted Maple top was the prettiest one out of all Ultra Swedes made. The neck is just so thin and easy to play
I've got a 1973 Hagstrom swede and on that one it says made in Sweden. Yes I'm Swedish.

No man, they're all made in China. The vintage ones were probably produced in Sweden since it is a Swedish company.
