I carried this for almost four years in my last unit. It is slightly heavier than the M4 carbine but much more accurate, sub MOA, and so easy to maintain. It never get dirty inside no matter how much you shoot.
@PS3WPRODUCTIONS we talking quality accuracy, not a gun that just goes BANG...if you shoot a 416 it shoots 1 inch from 100 yards, if you shoot ak-47, you'll be lucky if you hit 1 foot with half of a mag...im talking semi auto, with AK firing full auto you wont hit anything at all...
@impalor1979 You're full of it. I can get centermass hits quality easily on a a man sized targets at 100 yards off hand or from bench. I've got the video on here.
@esh325 yea, center-mass of course, but im talking about accuracy....for me accurate means 5-7 shot .5" groups at 100 yards.....most guns will shoot center-mass, but im talking about hitting the bullseye pretty much with every shot, and AK is not designed for that, its designed to hit center-mass and just to do lots of damage...
I'm equipped with the HK416N 14¨ barrel and it's a sweet rifle, recoil is virtually non-existant from previous weapons (AG3). And with the added velocity of the round it has a really great damage potential even when comparing 7.62 and 5.56!.
termometen- you are dead wrong about American using foreign weapons...name one personal assault weapon that is being used by the U.S. military...surprisingly there are none...some components like dot sights, ACOGs, launchers, etc. may be made in other countries, but the U.S. does not use foreign made weapons...that would be completely ludicrous during wars...try thinking before speaking next time
To name a few. SCAR, MP-5, MK.23, Bertetta M-9, UMP-45. Special Forces use more of the foreign weapons than the regular military force. They are still in the military branches. Also may police forces use foreign made firearms. Glock being the number one foreign firearm the police use nation wide. I'm just helping you out by naming some that our military uses since you didn't name any of them in your post.
Colt? are U referring to an M16 or M4? Colt, although the military supplier is probably the worst of all of the makers of ARs..... no wonder U didn't like it!
Yep aber us Arme meinen ja immer sie sind - und können alles besser. Sind aber verückt und geil auf unsere WERTARBEIT NAMENS HK. Genauso geil sind sie auf die Saiga12 von izmasch aus good old Russia
And I'm a president of Uganda. Finlands population is 5 million ppl and its FDF has 350 000 troops. So Finland didint order any of those things cause they use RK 95 and AK 47 assault rifles.
Doubt an objective answer exists. Both the G36 & HK416 use a short-stroke gas system, which is much cleaner than the direct-impingement gas system used in the M16. Doubt it's economical for the US to adopt the G36 but an upgrade of existing M16 with HK416 upper receivers is reasonable. Personally like the ergonomics of the M16. It's reliable as long as it's well maintained and care is taken not to over-grease with CLP, which attracts dirt, debris, and sand.
Actually the German branch of HK is doing nothing on this project other then funding. The 416/417 were the brain children of two americans who then petitioned the US branch of HK to make it. But eitherway you can be sure the gun will be excellent.
Uh wrong. The 416 and 417 lack the modular barrel of the G36 and uses the same loading mechanism as the M16. The only thing it shares with the G36 is the short-stroke gas system, which is actually used by praticlly everything H&K makes. The fact that it shares more in common with the M16 and not the G36 makes it hardly German technology. It makes as much sense to claim that as it does to claim a C-130 is Japanese simply because it has a electronic system made in Japan.
True but you have to admit the tech is part american. The piston system was developed decades ago it just wasn't economical to up grade from the ar15 to ar18, light weight material, and the bolt design are american concepts.... poor stoner it was after his death that people accepted his piston design.
Yeah after-all, we'd accept Germans to improve our rifles, the same country we beat the shit out of in both World Wars. By the way I hope you know this rifle is designed by H&K America, by American designers you idiot. Piston designs are ancient, Stoner knew all about it, except he didn't want it for a reason.
you could argue it like that, HK is maybe the best small arms mfgr in recent years with weapon systems such as HK53 (MP5 in 5.56), G3(a post WW2 weapon still in use in some countries for example Norway), G36 a great weapon with growing popularity around the world and slightly more recently the XM8 project (slightly modified G36 system now cancelled
Ok first of all the G36 uses a Modified Stoner Rotating Bolt, and the piston system was first used on the ar-18 also made by stoner nobody bought it cause it was expensive, HK produces the rifle but it was designed by two american men that were in the U.S. military!

HK didn't invent this rifle or the piston system. They copied. Nice rifle though their version of the piston AR/M4 is nice.

Not that I know of, google will guide you.
Some heavier weapons are swedish and well liked, the SAAB/Bofors Carl Gustav AT4 is probably one of the most famous.

Whatever is a great weapon - and Europe should equip it now rather than all wasting money on inferior arms.
But see L115A3 we can also make a good gun.
Though HK have been weapon of choice for UK police etc for a long time now.
Is a great credit to German engineering.
