I didn't think AC's comment was not a critique, just thought it was sophomoric, given the pretension being emitted through it's phrasing and the name it was coming from. If someone had said "for me, this didn't work", that would be fine. The tone of AC's post was know it all-ish. The length of a critique doesn't define it, what's being said does.
In my opinion though, a critique has four steps (or four preferable steps .. this is my opinion, not the law of writing one. XD )

Perhaps not one to argue, but I completely disagree with the critique! The best part of this video is getting to watch it over and over again and see/notice something different every time! Although, I do agree some of the chroma's were a bit distracting, I think the flow was very nice. ^^ The only thing that bugged me at all about this video was at like... :43, the cookie diagonal cookie cutters. But, that's just me~ They fit the video well.
Although it is full of masking, chroma, 3-D, and effects, it does come of a bit sloppy at points. Some chroma is distracting, such as at 1:38 or 1:49 or 2:00
There is lack of good scene selection in most of the video, as most clips just don't fit or make sense where they are. The middle of the video feels clustered.
I was troubled in focusing on any 1 clip. Where there was not many clips, everything was cleaner.
And when fading from the full clip to the white clip looked messy.
I think you're wrong. So some of the chroma was a little messy and it was very in your face at points, but I think the scene pairing was perfecto! And the text ruled!
ah, the critique is appreciated... and the sloppiness is one of the main pertaining reasons why I hate this video. I'm glad you can see it too...

First off, what...the...hell.
Scene Selection was the main focus of the video!! The fact that you couldn't tell that is ... worrisome XD Of course everything's not going to fit 100% ...these are Disney movies set to a Kevin Rudolph song. She worked well with what she had and she fit it to a perfect T, IMHO. I think scene selection is the obvious main point of the video x)
second of all .... have you ever USED chroma-keying?? Of course it's gonna look sloppy at parts, it's a sloppy effect. XD Nobody can yield it perfectly ... that's why Vegas has masking ;) the only thing is, if she had tried to mask this whole thing, she'd of blown her brains out.
so...Chroma keying was the way to go, even if she was afraid it was going to be sloppy XD
and thiird ... you're not SUPPOSED to be able to see all the clips at the same time. (cont-)
I'm not gonna lie to you ... I layer stuff just so people will watch it again and again to catch everything XD It's my own way of making my video addicting ;) ... it makes things way more interesting. Every time I watch this video (-and I've watched it a LOT) I catch something new .. no joke. XD Then you're probably using Movie Studio, mine is Pro Vegas, so thats why the layers are unlimited. trust me, my vegas probably glitches more than yours lol
well glitches as in sometimes random clips disappear, or things jump from layer to layer, or don't render properly, etc. these are rare, but they happen often enough to piss me off x)

OK so first, I think my faaav thing was the text (OMG. I have to get those fonts off you XD) and the whiteness of it all! It's so clean, but also so dirty as you left some bits from the original bg stand out, which makes it look.... dirty! so perfect for the song. I loved the Roadside Romeo parts, they fitted so well XD

Lol interesting. I think that our video's 'concepts' are similar (the major difference being my video remains unfinished perhaps for eternity). Mainly with the continuous movement and in bringing out the song by engaging the characters in a playful way, but also here you used unexpected scenes to give the video a more natural vibe and moves the viewers eyes around the composition (like in high hopes..) The same tone is also mirrored in the movement, and you also accomplished a lot of what..
I was aiming for by simulating camera movement because that's very tough on Vegas. Clips also 'carry themselves over' to the next clip and engage all the pieces so that the piece is stronger when viewed as a whole. That's what makes this much stronger than boring as hell dancing clips glued on music changing beat by beat. I think this video would have benefited from being cleaner (a lot of smudging and blobs), but I know how difficult or impossible CK is to work with. And as usual I like your..
..incorporation of the text as when text is used as a 'filler' to substitute for good scene selection I despise it; but it works for me here since I can grasp that whole editing style you're going for, and I do think there was a lot of consistency here with only a few divergences. You're one of the few editors I can trust to maintain standards along with these genres.

WOW that is just AWESOME. Like, the way you know how to put everything where it moves so fluidly just amazes me 0_0 The effect are perfect and ADORABLE. I also really enjoyed the human movies, those scenes were PERFECT. And LAAWL I just love 1:02 with steele's UH! That just made me LOL. Awesome job! Only thing I could say is the chroma coulda been a lil cleaner but I mean, the vid is amazing enough that don't matter :D
Since I saw your preview the first time I was so-so about it, then I watched it again and I liked it a bit more, and then next thing I know I'm (in a non creepy way) stalking your page to see if you've uploaded yet (my sub box delays on me A LOT).
And I must say, this came out great! Stop hating it, you're far too hard on yourself. I personally feel that this is one of your best, only behind "Life in Technicolor", and fun vids aren't usually my favorite.
What I loved best about this was the "detachment" theme your were talking about. I thought of TV ads before you even mentioned it. Everything flowed quite nicely and gave a tv show intro feel.
The next thing I really liked was the background changes such as 0:08 and Georgette at 0:12. You didn't do that a lot but it was unique and stood out to me.
@Superdoglac I really liked the chroma/masking as well. When it comes to chroma you always amaze me and the masking looked great as well (as you know I've never masked but I can't imagine it's easy. XD) It really brought out the white background theme and goes back to the theme of detachment.
I also liked how in the O&C clips you left the background of the buildings in. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but the idea of New York just seemed to fit in with the theme. Plus it looked really cool at 0:13.
Individual things I liked are as follows: 0:13 with the female anthro dog (never seen RR, idk names XD). I don't know how you had the squiggly outline move along with her but I loved it.
0:47 with Dixie and the changing colors. Looked nice, I know you didn't use colors a lot, but it was really appropriate then.
2:10 with the moving boxes. Gave a filmstip feel which I loved, very creative.
To be honest, looking back on what I wrote, the first half was a lot better when you had inspiration. The second half wasn't bad, just overshadowed by the first half's uber awesomeness. XD

Umm... wow? I love this new white-background thing that I see some people use, make it look so fresh. It can do wonders, really. Loved the square cookie cutters like those around 0:58. Made it look really cartoony. Chroma keying can be a bitch, and most of the time it's hard to fully cut out the character and make it look nice and clean. You did however seem to manage that nicely at most parts. Bluring the edges do sometimes ruined a little of that nice "clean"-look I think you were going for...
Anyways: (continue): I liked how everything seem to... react on everything else. If you know what I mean? XD, Like whenever a new chroma keyed picture came in, it seemed to push other things a little to the side. I also like your coloring, it's subtle, and not too dominant - but it's still there, and gives it all a very cool, fresh look. I usually don't like it when people mix human-disney with animal-disney, in this video I didn't mind much, though... (con.)

I didn't think AC's comment was not a critique, just thought it was sophomoric, given the pretension being emitted through it's phrasing and the name it was coming from. If someone had said "for me, this didn't work", that would be fine. The tone of AC's post was know it all-ish. The length of a critique doesn't define it, what's being said does.

There's a fine line between criticism and critiquing, and the shorter it looks, the more it looks like criticism.

Perhaps not one to argue, but I completely disagree with the critique! The best part of this video is getting to watch it over and over again and see/notice something different every time! Although, I do agree some of the chroma's were a bit distracting, I think the flow was very nice. ^^ The only thing that bugged me at all about this video was at like... :43, the cookie diagonal cookie cutters. But, that's just me~ They fit the video well.

Although it is full of masking, chroma, 3-D, and effects, it does come of a bit sloppy at points. Some chroma is distracting, such as at 1:38 or 1:49 or 2:00
There is lack of good scene selection in most of the video, as most clips just don't fit or make sense where they are. The middle of the video feels clustered.
I was troubled in focusing on any 1 clip. Where there was not many clips, everything was cleaner.
And when fading from the full clip to the white clip looked messy.

First off, what...the...hell.
Scene Selection was the main focus of the video!! The fact that you couldn't tell that is ... worrisome XD Of course everything's not going to fit 100% ...these are Disney movies set to a Kevin Rudolph song. She worked well with what she had and she fit it to a perfect T, IMHO. I think scene selection is the obvious main point of the video x)

second of all .... have you ever USED chroma-keying?? Of course it's gonna look sloppy at parts, it's a sloppy effect. XD Nobody can yield it perfectly ... that's why Vegas has masking ;) the only thing is, if she had tried to mask this whole thing, she'd of blown her brains out.
so...Chroma keying was the way to go, even if she was afraid it was going to be sloppy XD

Lol interesting. I think that our video's 'concepts' are similar (the major difference being my video remains unfinished perhaps for eternity). Mainly with the continuous movement and in bringing out the song by engaging the characters in a playful way, but also here you used unexpected scenes to give the video a more natural vibe and moves the viewers eyes around the composition (like in high hopes..) The same tone is also mirrored in the movement, and you also accomplished a lot of what..

I was aiming for by simulating camera movement because that's very tough on Vegas. Clips also 'carry themselves over' to the next clip and engage all the pieces so that the piece is stronger when viewed as a whole. That's what makes this much stronger than boring as hell dancing clips glued on music changing beat by beat. I think this video would have benefited from being cleaner (a lot of smudging and blobs), but I know how difficult or impossible CK is to work with. And as usual I like your..

..incorporation of the text as when text is used as a 'filler' to substitute for good scene selection I despise it; but it works for me here since I can grasp that whole editing style you're going for, and I do think there was a lot of consistency here with only a few divergences. You're one of the few editors I can trust to maintain standards along with these genres.

WOW that is just AWESOME. Like, the way you know how to put everything where it moves so fluidly just amazes me 0_0 The effect are perfect and ADORABLE. I also really enjoyed the human movies, those scenes were PERFECT. And LAAWL I just love 1:02 with steele's UH! That just made me LOL. Awesome job! Only thing I could say is the chroma coulda been a lil cleaner but I mean, the vid is amazing enough that don't matter :D

Since I saw your preview the first time I was so-so about it, then I watched it again and I liked it a bit more, and then next thing I know I'm (in a non creepy way) stalking your page to see if you've uploaded yet (my sub box delays on me A LOT).
And I must say, this came out great! Stop hating it, you're far too hard on yourself. I personally feel that this is one of your best, only behind "Life in Technicolor", and fun vids aren't usually my favorite.

What I loved best about this was the "detachment" theme your were talking about. I thought of TV ads before you even mentioned it. Everything flowed quite nicely and gave a tv show intro feel.
The next thing I really liked was the background changes such as 0:08 and Georgette at 0:12. You didn't do that a lot but it was unique and stood out to me.

@Superdoglac I really liked the chroma/masking as well. When it comes to chroma you always amaze me and the masking looked great as well (as you know I've never masked but I can't imagine it's easy. XD) It really brought out the white background theme and goes back to the theme of detachment.

I also liked how in the O&C clips you left the background of the buildings in. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but the idea of New York just seemed to fit in with the theme. Plus it looked really cool at 0:13.
Individual things I liked are as follows: 0:13 with the female anthro dog (never seen RR, idk names XD). I don't know how you had the squiggly outline move along with her but I loved it.

2:10 with the moving boxes. Gave a filmstip feel which I loved, very creative.
To be honest, looking back on what I wrote, the first half was a lot better when you had inspiration. The second half wasn't bad, just overshadowed by the first half's uber awesomeness. XD

Umm... wow? I love this new white-background thing that I see some people use, make it look so fresh. It can do wonders, really. Loved the square cookie cutters like those around 0:58. Made it look really cartoony. Chroma keying can be a bitch, and most of the time it's hard to fully cut out the character and make it look nice and clean. You did however seem to manage that nicely at most parts. Bluring the edges do sometimes ruined a little of that nice "clean"-look I think you were going for...

XD, Like whenever a new chroma keyed picture came in, it seemed to push other things a little to the side. I also like your coloring, it's subtle, and not too dominant - but it's still there, and gives it all a very cool, fresh look. I usually don't like it when people mix human-disney with animal-disney, in this video I didn't mind much, though... (con.)

5/5 and favoriiite! I just cleaned out my favorites, and I decided to get harsher with the stuff I favorited, but this was very original and phresh, so... I jus had to. x)

OMG This Vid was Just AMAZING EPIC 0_0 The Timming the lipsync the cookie cutter OMG All was PERFECT =D and the Whiter BG with the Chroma °__° Pure Genius and its original I think not anyone can use it like that =D I watch a 2nd Time YaY ^^ and NO NO NO it not total crap =O
