  • Nice guitar and nice playing! :)

  • @Patriksundvik

Thanks. I no longer have this guitar, and sometimes wish I hadn't sold it. Needed the money to pay my mortgage in 2008 when I sold it.

  • @Fstpicker Its not fun when you have to sell a guitar, worst thing i ever done was when i sold my Martin D-28.. Bought a Yamaha LL6 3 days ago, not like the D28 but its good for the price.. My next buy will be the Martin HD-16 Adirondack or Gallagher :)

  • @Patriksundvik

If I ever got another Martin, and money was not an issue, I'd get the HD-16A as well. Love the full profile neck and the 1 & 3/4" width.

  • Are those tuners original? do you own a henway?

  • @bluegrassin I replaced the originals with Grover Statite 18:1 tuners. I don't know what a henway is.

  • Thanks for your comments. Glad you like your HD-16RLSH and are about to pay it off. As far as the B string, I usually tune it just a couple cents or so flat on purpose, if that is what you are referring to. However, on my current Stanford PSD20 I can usually tune all the strings up to 440 pitch with not too much trouble, which is a guitar that I like even better than the Martin, believe it or not.

    Cheers.

  • just about to pay off for this guitar and the sound IS trully that bass and depth and tonal ,, i have a Morgan 10 yrs old 4k and this one for 2k and has the deep bass of the morgan and this martin is new ,,,,,by the wy your B is out a bit ,, peace man ,,lol

  • NICE! this is just what I was looking for; as I'm creating an article about why picks are important, and if one buys a great guitar and plays it with a Fender thin. . . .it's ridiculous.

  • @wesmantodd1974

Yes, the type, guage, and style of pick that one uses determines a great deal of the tone you can get out of your guitar. And then, there's the way you hold the pick against the strings...technique...that determines how you sound....equally as important.

  • @wesmantodd1974

    Absolutely 100% true!

  • If I could get the first 2 minutes of your second video. I would really appreciate it. When you put the bone saddle in this guitar did you have to custom make it? What size were the pins if you remember? Thanks!

  • Bone saddle was purchased either off EBay, or from Bob Colosi. No, it wasn't a "custom", only one made specifically for a Martin guitar.

  • What song are u playing here? do you have the core patterns written down?

  • I guess I could come up with them, although I'm playing several songs, and then some chords that aren't songs.

  • @wantingtoplayguitar

I messaged you the chord patterns from the first 2-3 minutes of video. Hope this helps...

    Jeff

  • Yeah, where do you get those tortoise shell picks?

  • I can't get them any longer.

  • where in the world did you find a real tortoise shell pick!?

  • Someone on one of the guitar forums had made a few from a 100-yr. old antique combs he came across.. Been a few years ago. I lost one of the two I got from him, but still have one left.

  • Really nice looking guitar, how much did it cost?

  • I purchased it used off Ebay for $1400. I have since had to sell it, but I was able to sell it for the same price.

  • yeah there good strings 2, i don't remember ever any martin strings not being great

  • I like using the martin med. sp and the sp+

  • I like the Eric Clapton PB Medium strings made by Martin.

  • @Fstpicker Tell me if I'm crazy in the HEAD? I own a 1973 d-35 worth 3800. I'm thinking about trading it in for a HD 16 LSH. That I played today at CA HOUSE.

  • I just bought the same guitar and I'm in love with it. The 1 3/4" nut width is the best. I don't have a real shell pick, but I use horn and it turns the guitar ino a CANON!! My other acoustic playing friends can't compete with the volume.

    We're guitar brothers!!

  • That is great!! Glad to hear from another HD-16RLSH owner/player. These guitars sound very alive and pretty loud for sure. Well I wouldn't necessarily classify mine as a "cannon", it has plenty of volume without a doubt!

Why not post a video of you playing yours sometime? Love to see and hear you playing it!

  • Very nice!

  • Beautiful looking and sounding Martin.

  • Thanks Sammi!

  • That Martin sounds very good. Thanks for posting videos of your different guitars. You are a very good player and it's good to see and hear the differences.

  • I do not play the guitar, but i listen.

    Very nice.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks. Listening is always allowed! :)

  • very nice. how new are the strings?

  • Fairly new as I recall when I made this video.

  • that is a fantastic sound. how long does it hold it, till you have to change strings again? it sounds like it would last for months.

  • Believe it or not, strings seem to last a good three months or so on this guitar without sounding "muddy". Not something I could say about my other guitars, or at least my other Martin I used to own. I got a good 3-4 weeks on strings with that guitar before they went sour. I am now using Eric Clapton PB medium strings made by Martin. Between them and my usual D'Addario EJ-17 PB mediums, they are a pretty close match.

  • It sounds very, very good. I have a D-16GT but this sounds like it's in whole different class. I'll add this to my wanted list :-)

  • Nothing wrong with a D-16GT by any means. I used to own the rosewood version of that guitar, a D-16RGT, and that was no slouch by any stretch.
