  • pretty awesome technique!

  • who else tried calling the number at 4:16

  • 'sure makes me want to build something. Great video - thanks!

  • Good job!!

  • I like it, nice job!

  • Very good body job man !

  • even easier way take half a roll of steel wool, let it disolve in a bowl of Vinegar, takes about 2 weeks, take the liquid that is left and paint on the spot u want to rust, the solution goes on clear and dries to actual rust and looks perfect...cause it is actually rust.

  • WHAT activator? Did I miss something???

  • wow... nice rat rod!

  • Does this work on the chrome parts as well??do you do any interior aging effects?

  • how did you make the holes???

  • rust the rims man.. make it all match u kno

  • nice job !

how would you rust the chrome parts and make them have that undernieth rust look like the body has ? or it that impossible because you cant really paint chrome?

  • Great job ! looks REAL !

  • I cant get my rust to work I dont know if I am not putting anough on or doing it to thick? and when I put the rubber cement on and paint it its taken the iron paint off! What do you think I am doing wrong please help Also what grit do u use to sand the paint?

  • I cant get my rust to work I dont know if I am not putting anough on or doing it to thick? and when I put the rubber cement on and paint it its taken the iron paint off! What do you think I am doing wrong please help

  • Dude, that so realistic!!! nice work :)

  • I THINK YOU SHOULD DO THE RIMS TOO

  • What is Black wash?

  • were can i get the iron paint

  • @TheRedneckbronco84

    i bought it at micheals

  • would you be willing to send a DVD of this video of you making this car? and how did you get the body trim to look aged? Where can I get the stuff to make my models look rusty?

  • @Tyson1845

i lost the video when my old computer crashed, the trim is painted with flat clear and then i put some black wash over that. the rust stuff was purchased at micheals craft store.

  • te mamaste!!

    great job!!

  • Awesome... people in video productions often need real looking models for filming.

  • That Chevy looks SO realistic! But can it be restored to like-new again????

Thanks for the tip. I never knew how the expert modelers got the bodies rusty like that...

  • Very Nice

  • It would have been more realistic (not that it isn't) if youy made it so a fender or some thing was primered with only a little bit of rust showing through, and if a piece of chrome trim was missing on the door and maybe a cracked windshield or window, I do hot wheel scale models and to make it so mine "ages" I sand the body all over to get the shine of then I go to the metal in some spots, then I coat it an salt and leave it in the mud and dirt in my back yard for a year or two.

  • alot of f'king work but the end result is awesome...great job

  • thats really good

  • thaks

  • could you put saltwater over the parts you want to rust?

  • So then, where do I get most of that stuff lol

  • looks great

  • Cara enjoyed most of his work ... Congrats

  • I WILL GO BUILD SOMETHING!!!!

  • NNNNNNNNIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEE i love it!!

  • yoshouldve rusted the side trim more and the rims

  • ummm no affense if that was a real car its too rusty to fix up try sale it for 300$ ill maybe put down an offer lols check out my video diorama and nice work bro

  • whats activater

  • do you use any type of sealer after the activator is dry or can it just be done after that?

  • Looks pretty realistic.

  • u can also use a lighter and lightly heat up the plastic and dent it in.. thats wat i do

  • holy shit awsome rat rod

  • Awesome video Man

  • awezome

  • I can say this is fuxking amazing technique.

  • is the Bel Air metal or plastic?

  • que bueno que te quedo maestro!!! mejor que el anterior eh!!!

  • so i pay for the wheels and have to take the rusty pile of.....rust too?

  • it would work on metal models? i have and old chassis of a VW Beetle all metal, but no paint

  • how did you make those dents look so real on the trunk lid and right front fender??

  • i grind the body from behind until it's paper thin then dent it. spray the body in primer so you can tell when the body is getting about to break through. you will see the plastic get darker the closer you get to grinding through

  • Nice work Jedi, ill have to borrow the SALT trick. What i use to get that look is to repeatedly WET the surface with solution and put it away WET for 12 hours.

  • Excellent work my friend!!!! I will give it a go i think. Thanks!!

  • pretty cool but you should rust the rims too

  • gotta hand it to ya kid, nice work

  • this is an awesome vid, but you think i could get song name

  • GREAT WORK !

  • Hmmmm, well looks like she may have some life left in her yet.......will you take $300?

alright $350 but thats as high as i go.

  • 5:18 --- looks like a real car!

  • Can I do the same thing with metal die cast?

  • dude that thing is sick! i would hav never thought of the salt and it looks so real, i hav the same model you used in this vid and now i regret not painting it like this. i like how you put the little signs on it and aged everything! although you could hav aged the rims and figured out a way to make the tires flat but other than that great job!

  • what u can do is do the same w/the wheels and also at the end of the vid u can show the results like before and after

  • I'm not sure about the salt but cool painting!

  • I wanna go build something right now!

  • my job is done :O)

  • can i buy that car

  • Holy moly looks like a barn find.Great job.

  • looks great looks so real, although would look good with some old wheels to match the rest of the car,, good job

  • looks so real

  • the small details really added to the affect!

  • wow it looks like a real metal with rust really amazing!

  • awesome!

  • hi! I don't have any experience with model cars; I make miniature abandoned houses and would like to start making some (rusted) metal components. do you have any idea if it matters whether or not the paints you use are oil-based or not? I work with acrylics and I'd love to try your awesome technique on faux tin roofing :-) Thanks! (VERY cool vid, by the way :-))

  • Thats the coolest thing ever! Looks just like the 57 my bro just picked up, Good work man

  • nice work

  • Beautiful job and where do you find that brand of paint? Please tell me the brand of paint so I can put the salt and see what it would look like on my Nomad

  • very kool, i am looking to get into doin this stuff, where do you buy your models? a hobby shop or a regular store some times or both?

  • pretty damn good all i have to say is that you need to make ure rims and tires look worn out and crack the glass maybe

  • i like my wheels shiny even on a POS :O)

  • how did you create dent effect at 0.43

  • you smack it on something. lol

  • thinned the body down from behind with a dremel tool

  • fuck it looks so real

  • I grew up in Michigan , worked in a junk yard in my teens , saw a lot of cars that looked like that

  • Wow, thanks for posting! This video is awesome!

  • you need to make the wheels/glass not look so nice, they need to look like the rest of the car

  • is that how your models are??

  • it was just a suggestion

  • sorry, wrong account. but it was just a suggestion

  • you sell it for $500?

  • sure i'd sell it for that

  • did someone buy your car now. you can buy another car and rust it too and sell it. wow you will be rich.

  • HI what type of activator did you use, can you show me a picture of it, cool job on the cars

  • Nice touch on covering the motor up with plastic & duct tape. Looked like something that would really happen.

  • awesome job!!

    type in "rust effect"

and you will get a video on faux rust paint jobs...they use paint with actual iron in it and a spray that makes it rust in a few hours...real rust! its called a rust patina paint job and people use it to make stuff look antique

  • I have seen salt used before. But not right on top of wet primer. Good idea.

  • im going to buy a model and hopefully do something like this to it im thinking a dodge challenger thanks for help:)

  • i use regular sand paper to smooth it out

  • what do u sand the body with to smooth it out after it dries? and man u some skills brother this is awsome i am going to try my own i actually have a 66 mustang that looks like this but its real hahaha
