Sounds like a 1984 305 with a 2 brl carb with about 210,000 mile sounds pretty roached out and what are you running for a final gear 2:73 ? Here's some suggestions that would have even a much better coolness factor look for a 350 or 455 olds rocket they are both beasts of motors and will put up with all the wot treatment and burn outs you want also drop in atleast 3:56 or even better 4:10 its not a top speed mechine you want down low tire shreading put the power to the pavment from the gate

Now that's the idea! I am thinking of something that can be used on the road course or the drag strip...about halfway between a Lotus 7 and a street rod/drag car like a Track roadster...but I want to do it with a 4 cylinder with a supercharger....sort of like the old Miller racercars...this could be a real project...I love your car though, that's the spirit of old fashioned back to basics hot rodding without the big bucks glamour guys being involved...good job!

Did you paint your cragar rims???

I find Cragars in the junk yard, take a grinder to them, if needed and spray them with chrome paint. Its not too pretty, but it looks better then blue!

I find it rather odd that some people complain about ratrods. I agree with Tomanyasses that the original rods, whitch in fact used originally flathead fours before the first eights became readily available, weren't overbuild and painted like their modern equivalents, but rather composed of all the best parts available in your friendly neightbourhoods junkyards. As far as I can tell, modern showstyle hotrods were "invented" in 1960's, couple decades after the beginning of hotrodding...

Sure, a suzuki with open pipes would blow all right--as in blow donkeys. Low-compression engines with open pipes sound best when the engine stops, which is frequently in this case. Otherwise they sound flabby like this poor Y-block. Throw some baffles in those pipes, dude.

Don't countthis engine out for anything short of a torquey Mutha-

Y-Blocks are hard to kill and when they wake up are really DANGEROUS.

As an owner and a builder I give you these details. The engine at that video is 272 cid Y-block and at the moment we have 292 cid Y-block with two small turbos and an intercooler in that Hollow Machine Rat Roadster. Sounds even better today...
