  • I love this song so much!!

  • I luv luv Hootie singing country u go boy!!!!

  • darius.. i feel bad for this man, times have changed and he knows it, but there are still the ignorant out there thinking skin color has everything o do with humanity.

well it doesnt guys, get over it. we have a black president, and obviously black country singers, they are not niggers, and they are not african americans. they are AMERICANS, no matter how much you may hate it, it is who we are. americans.

  • Hootie went country? What happened to the blowfish?

  • x001m69, I completely agree, Darius Rucker is an awesome musician

  • Hootie is just Hootie. He's a gifted artist and has touched my heart so many times with his songs. I woke up this morning with "Let Her Cry" in my head. I had to listen to it, so came to Youtube. Now, I'm just feasting on all his amazing tunes. Thank you, Hootie man.

  • I agree with joeschmoe2003 , this is a good song performed by a very good singer who just happens not to be white ! Colour of the skin has nothng to do with it !

  • On YouTube we've definitely taken a step back...on the radio and TV no one at all even mentioned Darius Rucker's skin color when this song came out...then here on YouTube people had to go and mention it! Hopefully one day we'll get to the point where mentioning the artist's skin color is like mentioning the artist's favorite breakfast; totally irrelevant to the song!

  • Yeah!!

  • @joeschmoe2003 I had no clue what his skin color was until my friend's mom mentioned it and we were all surprised. We all have ideas that they have deep dark voices and we just didn't expect his voice to sound like this! I love his work, don't get me wrong, and I have no problem with his skin color. It was just a complete shock to me! But NOTHING will keep me from listening to his music. EVER.

  • luv this song!!!!

  • This song sums up my last relationship... I'm an Idiot.

  • Ahoy, Mate, '09, April 14th, It is also good to forgive youself. Dock Rocker

  • At least you can man up and say that!!!!!

  • Even tho this song is awesome, it still amazes me at how well he is accepted in the country music business. I hope he keeps coming out with more.

  • Lets see, the sterotypical attitude is that country fans are rednecky racists. Well, its the country fans that have accepted Darius and the liberals always wanting to make an issue out of race. I'm so sick of it. This country fan thinks its great that Darius is doing so well and hopes he continues. I love the song about his little girls. I have three of my own. You're awesome Darius.

  • Country is the new Pop, I guess. Ol' Darius prolly went on down to Nashville to take a songwriting refresher course and drank too much of the Kook-aid. Good for him because he's got a hit.

  • Way to go Darius. My boyfriend and I love this song.

  • wow. this guy does not sound black

  • I like very little country, and I just happened to learn about this song while I was flipping past CMT.

    Great song, Darius! Good job!

  • love this song!

  • I was worried when I heard Darius was going country (I LOVE H&TB) but I obviously had nothing to worry about. It doesn't matter what genre he sings, he always sounds amazing!

  • Please let this fine singer with this magnificent song be heard!

If Garth Brooks was the one who SAVED country music from passing into the genre of Mozart, Bach etc, let Darius Rucker be the one who takes it to the NEXT level!!

  • This is one of my favorite song's ever. It's just awesome.

  • It's been a long dry spell for a black country singer to be in the top five. What a beautiful voice and song. Charlie Pride move over! This comment is coming from a "good ole boy" from Louisiana who remembers the excitement of Charlie Pride's great voice live at an NCO Club at Rhein-Main Air Base Germany - forty years ago. Darius, may you have many more country hits!!!!!!!!

  • he turns country and suddenly his song includes Whiskey. haahhaha

  • this song rocks it makes me think of what I should of said and did...maybe ill get another chance MAGIC MAN

  • SC loves Darius Rucker! He is a Southern Country Boy!

  • I have loved Darius Rucker since he sang the song in Shallow Hal, This song sounds exactly like his other songs... LOVE IT!!

  • Holy crap, I was watching cmt, I said to myself, What a new black country artist, hes good!! I need to look him up. I loved this song, never would of thought. Now that I know who it is, it sounds just like him.

I know if he wasnt black I would never be making such a big deal about it, just different. I think its awesome. Hell maybe snoop will make a country song. LMAO

  • ehm captgizzie? u do know this is hootie from hootie and the blowfish don't u? i mean..i think he's used 2 having a hit song, lol..they had a few anyway

  • I had to smile when I read your reply, I know who he is, I saw them a couple of times. The last time I saw them was in 1999, and the venue wasn't filled ..so what I should of said, was it's nice to see him have a "good comeback"??!! LOL

  • haven't heard of him before, but good singer. Thanks for sending.

  • i had this song in my head all day! =D

  • this is what i feel when i think about my brother we r separated but i think about him all the time and I'm glad my last memories of him are the best of all my memories

  • I'm sorry but i think the Charley Pride comment was just ignorant! I am a Darius Rucker fan & a Charley Pride fan. But maybe because they are both black, Darius could cover some Charley Pride songs. Ignorant indeed.

  • AMAZING song, I can relate completely to it.

  • ya...idk wat it is....its kinda got a sad tone....

  • why does this song make me want to tell my sons dad how i feel??? i just saw him-he cant even stand to look at me-talk to me-i just want to tell him i miss him and that i love him--he would rather spit on me--why couldnt he just feel how i feel?? it hurts to see him sometimes-just have to keep it in-what else to do? i wish he had chosen us-its been over a year-and i hear this song--and i feel like i did the day i had to leave with our son-to safety-to a sane place-Lord help me

  • He's the best african american country singer since charlie pride.

  • love this song

sang it to my ex,she fell madly inlove with me imediatly

  • obviously not for your spelling ability

    congrats though!

  • i fell in the with this song as soon as i heard. then i said thats hootie. its a great song

  • There was NEVER "A" Hootie. Research.

  • nice. hehe

  • i went through the same thing with my son's father 10 years ago. it wasnt a alcoholic problem but a meth problem. I am so disgusted!! I would never go back to him but and this song remind me of what happened to us... I drove away and saw a him in my rearview mirror disapearing from my life forever...

  • chris from la vernia-i heard this song, it makes me think of you--i wish things had worked out-i miss you and i love you-

  • What I find cool is our dj on our radio station knows Darius in person and Darius hung out with him for a while in the studio before he went to the country festival thing going on near it..guy sounds pretty cool and this song is so awesome, can't wait to see where he goes in the future with this turn

  • This song goes out to my beautiful daughter who is in the middle of a break up with a boyfriend who it turns out is an alcoholic. He is a great guy when he's sober but that is all. Hang in there Kristin because I know he loves you, he just loves the alcohol more, You're gorgeous and have a beautiful soul, someone will come into your life who will feel it is an honor to be part of your life, THAT is what REAL love is.

  • i just have to say-i read your comment--i heard this song, i just cried--i had to leave my sons dad-he loved to drink more than anything else--but i still miss him and love him--i wish it'd worked out-he was an amazing person when he wasnt drinking-the scene in the video-where they are in the kitchen, well chris, my sons dad, we had some of the best times there-my son is amazing and beautiful--he loves his dad and his mom-and i love my son and his dad-awesome song-good luck darius

  • Thank you for your thoughts. I also went through the same situation with my 8 year old son's father. It was one of the hardest things I ever went through emotionally but it has been 6 years now and Cam's father hasn't even asked to see him. I now realize that Cam is better off. Take good care and give yourself a hug, you deserve

  • i heard this song on a country music station and didn't have a clue who sang it at all and all of a sudden i was like, holy crap this is hootie, wow, good song and he has a great voice for country. i like it!

  • this guy is pretty awesome and he has the best voice for this song as well

  • Awesome song, awesome singer - I wish him the best!

  • Anyone can sing anything they so please. We the consumers have the power to make them or break them by buying or not buying their music. If you do not like him, don't buy his music..it is really that simple. The foolishness of some people here will not make me hate this song just because it is being sang by a black man. I still love this song. I would still love this voice and song even if it were to be sang by a GREEN man. WHy do some of you have so much HATE.What is going wrong in your lives

  • This man is talented no matter what he may sing. Watch the documentaries "ROOTS of COUNTRY MUSIC" and "BIRTH PLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC". Don't argue with your emtions.Being emtional about sensitive topics ONLy creates NOISE. Read be informed and then argue intelligently, That way you will get your point across effectively. The documenatries feature country artists and they speak about the ROOTS of country being in Africa. Slaves brought it here

  • great song and talented singer

  • Darius Rucker was born to sing country music.

He doesnt have to fake his accent like some wanna be country music singers do. He makes great music. And is an inspiration. His color has nothing to do with it.He's great.

  • I love this song so much. Certainly makes me think about the past, and gives me hope that those jerkfayses might regret treating me so poorly. :P

  • i like this song alot!

  • come on, its hootie. its such a great song, real life lyrics. makes you think hard on the past, makes me think of my ex everytime i hear it. good job darius.

  • This is a great song, and I think Darius Rucker has a great voice, no matter what genre he chooses.

  • you go d. rucker

  • charlie pride only made it cuz folks didnt know he was black but when they found out he had already made great music dont judge a book by its cover i guess. color has nothin to do wit bein country. Cowboy Troy, that guy from nashville star black an greAT COUNTRY!!!

  • I agree

  • if people are gonna get technical...i think charlie pride was black, and a great country singer

  • This isn't a desperate attempt to make more money. This is an artist being true to his self-expression and his art. The record labels know what they are doing and can predict where country music is heading based on what is selling. They would not place great faith in someone like Darius if they believed he didn't fit into that category! The fans determine the success of country music and this is the sound the majority of the fans prefer. He's not trying to be country, this IS country today.

  • Is his wife white???

  • Oh yay!! I loved Hootie so it's nice to see Darius carrying on. What a hottie too!!

  • dang i had no clue he was black

  • hehe I didn't either. Not until I finally looked the song up on here. But it doesn't bother me or anything, like some many jerks on here are complaining about it.

  • u dnt no nothin this is a country song if u dnt belive me listen to tim mcgraw and listen how he sings ya thats right i went there!!!! @_@

  • theres no room for rasicium on youtube. go some where else

  • Amen!

  • You are a really really disturbed person. Why don't you grow up, join the present time and put racism in the past! (Hate the person not their skin color).

  • WE CAN ONLY HOPE

  • I have to agree with everyone that color doesn't matter in the least, and its a good song. But this is my point of disagreement, THIS IS NOT A COUNTRY SONG! Listen to his vocal style, he has a good voice, but NOT a country voice. This song is a prime example of artists who cant seem to make it in whatever musical genre they should be in, so they throw in some fiddle and pedal steel guitar and call it country! Its crap and Hank Sr. would roll over in his grave if he knew what country has become!

  • I disagree! Look at Rascal Flatts, Big and Rich, Talyor Swift, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, etc. All of these artist have had songs that have had "pop" vocals. They are still country. I think that we should not judge untill he releases another country song, one that may better fit the country vocals. Anyone in Nashville could have sang this song and made it into a country OR a "pop" song.

  • I'm sorry but comparing the artists you listed to Darius Rucker is just not comparing apples to apples. All of the artists you listed are SUCCESSFUL country artist who occasionally have a crossover song. Fine. I dont even mind the occasional pop/rock star doing a little crossover, i.e. Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock. What I'm talking about is artists like Jessica Simpson and Darius Rucker whos careers are at a stand still so in a desperate attempt to make it back they turn country. When they ARE NOT!

  • Granted he has not made a record in a while, but everyone needs a new start sometimes in another field. If he started acting would you think he were a bad actor because he wanted to try to get his career back in a new or fresh way? I give him props for being different. It takes true raw guts to try something new that you are not sure wether you will stand tall or fall flat on your face.

  • great song great job singing it to

  • wow i didnt know he was african american, which isnt a promblem, he has a great voice and really all that matters since his profession is to sing. just shows how narrow minded some ppl are, when they assume a country singer w. a amazing voice like him, should be white.

  • reason you folks have probably never heard of him is because he used to play under "Hootie and the blowfish".

  • Just found out Darious sang this song. Loved it b4 and I still love the song. Doesn't matter the color of the skin. Hell, blacks live in the south 2. Let em sing country music if they want and they can. Sounds better than alot of white country singers and I have listened 2 country music for 20 years now.

  • charlie prides black and white ppl like him so wats yalls problem its just a color ppl there jus like u and me

  • y the fuck r ppl saying that they dont like this song bc the singers black??? wtf is wrong with u ppl! just bc hes black doesnt mean he cant b a country singer..

  • darius rucker... definitely a voice on him! it's amazing to witness the evolution of his music career. some people are "so surprised" that "a black man" (excuse me, "this man") is singing country... welcome to the 21st century! very inspiring, thanks for putting this up!

  • Your a fucking bitch.

  • get over yourself eric gtp

  • not trying to be racist of anytihng but i cant tell by his voice that hes black i love this song

  • awesome!!!

  • i totally love this song but i had never heard if him b4 this song but i have definatly been missing out on some great songs!lol

  • hey mrclutch you certainly have a way with words.........and you are supposed to be an adult........joke!

  • Damn, word for word my favorite country song by far

  • xitsherbiefersurex

  • This song is awesome!! I can't wait to hear

    more of his songs!~!

  • It is great to see Darius Ruckers back perorming. Hootie and the Blowfish forever.

  • This is a great song. I can really relate to it.

  • Great song! My favorite at the mo! I think everyone can relate to this one!

  • hey...fuck u

  • Great song!

  • no it doesnt itz awesome

  • it doesn't suck! If you don't like it how bout you don't look it up! No need to leave comments like this..

  • In his defense, he probably looked it up to see if he liked it, and now he says it sucks.

I don't like it, either. I like him better with Hootie.

He can say whatever he wants. Don't get so pissy and insecure about just a song.

  • Well I just think if you don't like a song you can keep it to yourself...you don't have to leave comments like that on here. And I don't know how I even remotely sounded insecure...and I wasn't pissy.

  • I agree 100%. If you don't like the song... find something else to listen to. No need to leave comments like that on here. No one wants to read that anyway.

  • Yeah, opinions are only okay if they are positive. Wouldn't want to tell the truth or hurt someone's feelings. Hahaha.
