  • i just love this piece of music, u can neasily lose urself into each note......loovely

  • This might have already been posted... but just in case...

the song was wriiten by Sidney Bechet on his arrival in France. Bechet had given up

on America and its treatment of black musicians and went to France where he, his music and talent was more appreciated. It would be many years before he and his

ilk were appreciated here. Our loss to be sure. Acker's rendition is certainly the best. Thanks.

  • Beautiful MV of the Great Legend !

  • nagyon jo - extra....

  • f...fantastic

  • Piękne granie to mój uwielbiony klarnecista.

  • I was 5 when I first heard this song and I have never forgotten it and always loved it

  • my lovely Dad was always whistling this when i was a kid ....it will always be his tune ......we danced to this at my wedding ...love it love it

  • Brings back lots of memories. Used to play this exact version on my clarinet as a teenager.

  • Wonderful tune. It still takes me back to my holiday at Butlins holiday camp as a child, they would play this music in the morning to wake you up. Fantastic times...

  • Great instumental song that I remember very well when I was 13 years-old

in 1961!!! "I Want Yo' Number."

  • The early 60's was a great time for instrumentals. This was on the top of the list of the best. Ferrante and Teicher, Holly Bridge Strings and so many more. As a 13 year old I loved it and wish we had some of this music today. Thanks to UTube and all of you we can revisit a time that will never be again. I'm in my mid 60's and all of my pals say the same thing. They wouldn't care if they were 90 - growing up in the 60's was the greatest gift of all. We wouldn't have it any othr way.

  • When I was in the Army, stationed with the 3rd Infantry Division in Wuerzburg Germany in the early 1960's,this song was very popular. Whenever I hear it, my mind wanders back to those days and my buddies. Thanks for the post.

  • When I was a kid, growing up in dreary old Birmingham ,my old dad used to play this tune and he would explain what he saw when he heard this tune, the images in this clip are an exact interprotation of what, in my minds eye, my father was seeing.Dad bought us out Australia, I can see it everyday.

    Thanks Dad.

and thank you for the vid.

    Beautiful stuff.

  • i emigrated to canada in 2007 leaving my parents behind , im 42 and this song makes me think of my folks back in the uk and i miss my mum terribly.

thanks for putting this up :)

  • Isn't it ironic that some of the music our parents liked become our favorites many years later. I was about 3 years old when this was released and it is one of my favorites today.

  • All will always think of my dad, when listening to this.

  • This song reminds me when I was courting my Husband. This was our song. We are no longer married, but I will always remember him, and to this day, I still cry when the old memories of my youth return. Thank you Mr Bilk for giving me these memories.

  • LINDO!!!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • Ooops, Sorry! Can't leave Mammy out - MyMum loves this track too - in those days then, Mum would either be cooking, marshalling a sibling-squabble or doing housework - but sometimes Dad would grab her for a half-dance half-cuddle!

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU for this post - pure nostagia - makes me think of that amazing smell, when Dad would open one of his many boxes of records, he'd find me face down in the box as he fired up the turntable! Alot of people don't know what I'm talking about, but good vinyl is more than just an audio file! With wet eyes, I THANK YOU AGAIN!

  • THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS ENCHANTINGLY WONDERFUL TUNE ON HERE!!!! AHHHH, THE GOOD OLE' DAYS!! :"~(

  • J'adore !! Je l'avais mis en sonnerie sur mon portable il y a quelques années, en changeant de GSM je l'avais perdue et je ne connaissais pas le titre, je suis super contente de la retrouver ici !!! Merci !!!

  • @maryse974 De nada amigo

  • Ah! This is the version I grew up on and that I prefer. He recorded others that often appear on instrumental compilations but this is the real deal. Thank you!

  • @HotVoodooWitch ABSOLUTELY! What wonderfully, beautiful music! It speaks to a magic time back then. I so sorely miss it! Would that we could hold on to that time forever! Even now hearing it as I type this, is bringing tears to my eyes! :"~( THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING IT ON HERE! NOW THIS IS TRUELY "CLASS!"

  • What a lovely instrumental. Wonderful!

  • this puts me in such a melancholy mood, and yet I listen to it repeatedly....am I a masochist or just in a reflective state? pondering that question...

  • This was my Dad's favorite song. I had it played at his funeral for him. Everytime I hear this song it brings back memories of my Dad. Thank you so much for having it hear so I can listen to it anytime I need to think of him.

  • @cars8709 This was one of MY Father's favorite songs as well! My Mother's too. I always see the innocent days of youth back in the early-mid 1960's & the way life was so much simpler, innocent, romantic, & relatively decent back then. This reminds me of the time of "Camelot" with the Kennedy's in this country too! I'm so glad my parents brought us up listening to this kind of music! What utter beauty & simplicity! Ahhhh, they truely do not make music like this gem anymore! A great pity!

  • @cars8709 Yes this does bring back memories for me too, my father who we just lost , loved this song so much he learned to play the clarinet when we were kids. Still brings a tear or two when i hear it. Thank you.

  • @cars8709 This is, and alway's was one of my favorite songs, It was a hit when I was a teenager. I loved all the music, from jazz to all pre-British invasion. Awsome that you played it at your Dad's funeral, I don't know how you did it, but good for you, you must be a strong man!! When I hear Louis Armstrong's "It's a Wonderful World", I still fall to pieces, it makes me think of my Dad, he was a trumpet player. C McD
