Why is it that the Assemblies Of God REFUSE to acknowlegde that they were formed from within the Church Of God In Christ? The church during this time was called the Churches Of God In Christ, then AFTER outsiders began to talk about (Blacks & Whites) worshipping together in the same place and were in HARMONY & FELLOWSHIP, those leaders who became the founders of AOG went to Bishop Mason, asked his blessings to branch off and begIn AOG. Why isn't this noted in the historicity of the AOG?

@PastorNez it does say the "History of AOG" not the History of pentecostalism... why are churches seeking acknowledgements when God alone should be acknowledge... If the Assemblies of God never came into being, my country would never recieve the pentecostal message... Its not that the AOG refuse to acknowledge COGIC, it's just talking about the History of the AOG... not pentecostalism
one thing about AG history is that I have been part of three AG churches (not all at once) and either their youth groups and young adult groups have disrespected me really bad. they have discriminated against me because of my mentality and personality. some of those people were even cruel to me on purpose. The Assemblies of God have the most disrespectful christians ever. and just because they are not perfect is no excuse for their behavior towards me personally.
As far as the great comission goes I believe the gift of interpretation comes in as I have heard and experienced. And part of praying in Holy Spirit tongues is a language the enemy can't decipher. But I will say that I've seen some speak in tongues and they were doing something on their own (not Holy Spirit uttered) as that fruit showed up.
The Strongs concordance I've read makes no mention of whether earthly or heavenly.
The Scriptures are indisputable testimonies and wise mens quotes inspired of God. If the testimony lines up with Scripture and the fruit of the testifier bears true then to God be the Glory. Be it known that I love you brother and we have a common enemy we must remain unified against and many a souls that can't afford to be lost to division in the body. Pray for me as I pray for you. Shalom.
@lioneltak and what would that reason be?I find it very hard to believe that Jesus would be talking about brand new languages that no one else in the world knows, especially in his great commision message to go unto all the world preaching the gospel. That would be very difficult to tell the gospel to someone in a new language eh? "new" languages refers to languages of the gentiles which was vital on the day of pentecost with all the diversities of "tongues" present. Acts 2: verses 8-12
@lioneltak I posted that comment like a year ago and you asked me a question and I answered, I respect your Faith, doctrine and you obviously have a strong foundation in Jesus Christ as do I. You are very correct about having a common enemy.. That being said, I do enjoy a friendly discussion on church doctrine and interpretation of scriptures. I enjoy studying many doctrines and the Lord has spoken to me on it consuming all my time instead of reaching the lost, I've promised him I won't let it.
Again Jesus said, "new tongues" not unknown. And Paul later confirms a distinguishment in saying tongues of men or angels. Strongs #1100 defines glossa in that passage: "of uncertain affinity; the tongue; by implication a language (specially one naturally unacquired) :- tongue." In Acts 2:4 it says "other tongues" while in Mark 16:17 Jesus says "new tongues" and later on another occasion spoke of them waiting on the Holy Ghost. There is a reason He distinguished between new & unknown.
Yes intrepretation is important but most scripture is quite direct. Mark 16:17; say what you will but the Word still says "new tongues" meaning tongues yet to be known or they wouldn't be new. As forestated the testimony of millions today and in times past from Acts and onward can't be discounted. But as a wise man once said you can't park a car where there is no garage. There must first be a willing mind. Let us love one another beyond this even.
@lioneltak direct interpretation: Book of Mark written in Greek. "Tongues" translated from the Greek word glossa meaning a language used by a particular people in distinction from that of other nations. The tongue is not yet known by the speaker but is a known language by a particialr people. For example if there was a man from a Middle eastern country in front of you and he started preaching in his native tongue, would you KNOW the language? Arabic? Hebrew? Kurdish? Or is it unknown to you?
@lioneltak Sorry Sir I can't go by everyone else's indisputable experiences nor "wise men's quotes", thus there would be thousands of experiences and quotes that would contradict each other and I would be totally confused. I can only pray that the Lord will guide me through HIS scriptures. I pray everytime I study that he would have me understand His Word the way He meant it to be. I am just 25 years old and hope to grow in the scriptures and in wisdom for many years to come. God Bless.
I've heard indisputable testimonies of people praying in tongues via Holy Ghost about situations across the world that they were unaware of only to find out that at the exact same time they were praying in tongues for that person and the miraculous happened.
@Dusthills48 No book could contain all of what Christ did in 33yrs let alone since Creation. Romans 8:26 is not referring to our innermost feelings but specifically says, we no not what we ought to pray for so the Spirit makes intercessions for us.
@Dusthills48 I mentioned the Romans scripture to point out that there are things that no language on this earth has words for. Paul also experienced things in the "heavenlys" that were unlawful to he uttered. What I'm trying to say is take the limits off of God. You have limited Him to your understanding of the scripture. The written Word is not the totality of who He is, especially since no man as you forestated has the full revelation of the Word.
But then I read a somewhat weightier article that was about the Bible, and that directly addressed the issue of whether we are letting the Bible's own story define our reality, or whether we are using our own experience to determine the way we view the Scriptures.
@lioneltak I have a wonderful spirit-filled life and Faith that can move a mountain..But i can have allll the faith in my faith to move that mountain. but if it is not in God's will, it aint' going anywhere :) I promise God has revealed Himself to me in the greatest way possible and that is my eternal salvation, and the only evidence I need to know that I have the Holy Spirit in me is through the Fruits of the Spirit.
@lioneltak oh the comment on "letting the Bible's own story define our reality" is that directed to me or to yourself? I like to view the scriptures the way they were written as in greek in this situation cause sometimes King James tended to do this, as in the case of Baptism. In greek its Baptizo which is translated as "immerse" but K.J. practiced sprinkling in his church, so he decided to leave it untranslated and made up the english word Baptize to make his practice right!! What !! I know!!
@lioneltak by the way...I never said it was impossible and completely understand, obviously it happened 2000 years ago and would have been great to have witnessed...but it is no longer practiced that way in many churches as in Acts, which is to spread the gospel to people that you at first had no way of sharing the gospel with because you couldnt communicate with them, now they speak in "tongues" and translate it to the language that we already know lol...sounds similar...or no it doesn't:)
I have heard people speak in tongues unknown and understood what was said which was confirmed when seconds later it's spoke in plain English. May God reveal Himself to you in a greater way brother He will blow your mind if you let Him..blessings.
It seems as though you have limited God to your reasoning. Btw Jesus said that we coud move mountains if we have faith. And I with childlike faith believe that if He said it that it's true. Just because you don't understand it does not mean it's impossible. You cannot discount the testimony of millions of fire baptized believers who have experienced this and know it's of God.
@lioneltak Oh yeah? If your interpretation is correct that "I" or "Paul" speaks regarding himself in "tongues of men and angels" once again you are leaving out verses 2 and 3 where "I" know all mysteries and "I" have all knowledge "I" give all to the poor and give his body to be burned with no Charity! hmm..that doesn't sound like Paul at all now does it?...might as well throw out my Bible if I'm going to leave out what I don't want to read.
In that very scripture Paul speaks of "unknown tongues". Unknown to men... Also read Mark 16:17, Rom. 8:26 but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
@lioneltak The verses have no relevence to each other at all. Romans 8:28 refers to the Spirits interpretation of the beleiver's innermost feelings on our behalf that CANNOT BE PUT INTO WORDS, and usually words are vital to speaking a language. And Mark 16:17 talks of the signs to come (pentecost) like casting out devils, speaking new languages taking up serpents, drinking deadly things and being not harmed...now if you wanna drink cyaninde while holding cobras while speaking greek, be my guest.
It is quite obvious that Paul is referring to speaking with the tongues of earth and of heaven, men and angels. Besides Paul is speaking of himself not the Corinthians: Though "I" speak.... Paul was a Jew, a Pharisee of Pharisees and never took part in unclean pagan practices.
How do you know exactly what Coronthian pagans are doing relative to what Paul is saying? You seem to believe your study of the Corinthians over the Word.
@lioneltak....Paul is not directly talking to you and me..he is writing to the problems that the Corinthinas were having at this time and we must apply it to our lives today...if there were a man on a street corner talking in ten languages and swearing to know all things and saying Bill the wizard gave me these powers and he can do the same for you because he is the real master, he has no charity, which is Christian love, then he is nothing because Christ is everything....now it has been applied
See Acts 19:1-6 In verse 6 the Bible says that after they recieved the Holy Ghost they spake with other tongues and prophesied. Did they not know how to speak a language until they recieved the Holy Ghost? These obviously are tongues that the Holy Ghost gave them utterance to speak.
@lioneltak agreed. This is the same power that the Holy Spirit gave Peter and others in Acts 2, a known language, to tell the Gospel other nations without even having to study it, which is not the same as used in many churches today when no one knows what each other is saying..if the whole church can speak english than it profits more to speak english....Paul teaches of speaking 5 known words than 10,000 of an unknown ones...it would profit nothing if you preached to me in Russian now would it?
@lioneltak...If you believe that Jesus died for your sins and is the one true God then there is no use even wasting our time with this doctrinal arguement...:) We could discuss security of the believer, wheather or not women can be the head of a church, or even open and closed communion. I am obviously not A/G but I know there will be Catholics, Pents, A/G's, Baptists, etc in heaven...and I'll be looking for you when I get there brother. (or sister)
@dusthills84 In 1Corinthians 13:1 Paul says, "the tongues of men and of angels." Obviously Paul is speaking of the tongues of earthly languages as in Acts 2:4 which the believer had never learned naturally but of the Spirit. Secondly the tongues of "angels" is clearly referencing a heavenly tongue as we do not regularly converse with angels. Simply speaking a language is not a gift, he is obviously speaking of the tongues by which the Holy Spirit gives utterance (Acts 2:4).
@lioneltak .."sigh".Read on to verses 2 & 3 please and don't take "the tongues of men and angels" out of context..OBVIOUSLY :) Paul is mocking the Pagans in verses 1-3. Does Paul have all knowledge? No. Does Paul understand all mysteries? No. Does Paul have all Faith so that he can move a mountain? No...or he would be God, but you know who claimed to do so?? ohhh Pagan worshipers in Corinth...which were misleading members at the Corinthian church...and Paul saw fit to bring it up in this letter.
Not vey long ago there was a meeting where the COGIC and AOG got together and repented of the racial divide and pledged to work towards unity the way God originally intended from the start at Azusa Street and furthermore in the book of Acts. There is video of that very beautiful meeting in which Pastor Jack Hayford(AOG) and Bishops Blake and G.E. Patterson amongst many others were in attendance. God bless the AOG and COGIC to be all that God TRULY called them to be... one in Jesus Christ!
It's very sad to see that they decided to leave out the fact that the Assemblies of God founding ministers were ordained by the Church of God in Christ founder Bishop C.H. Mason. Bishop Mason gave his blessing to them to start AOG. They only briefly mentioned the COGIC for the initial assembly. Failed to show any pics or mention their close ties and history with the Church of God in Christ. Whites and blacks worshiped together for years until racism caused divide.
We do thank the Lord for the late General Superintendent Parker of the Assemblies of God Church, who visited the Headquarters of the Church of God in Christ in the city of Memphis, Tennessee some years ago, and acknowledged the initial and close ties that (once) binded them together in a common and bretherly setting of the Church of God in Christ pre-1914, and thanked the Lord for Bishop Mason's love and guidance, and blessings upon the departure of the White brethren of that day and time.
-continued- the Assemblies of God became headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. When history is recorded, it should be verified for soundness, and adequacy. These were wonderful brethren, but because of that particular day and time . . . race was a present issue that these brethren had to deal with, and therefore chose to move into another ecclesiastical direction, and with the blessings of the late Founder of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason.
In listening to this incomplete documentary . . . it's evident that there in "absolutely" no mention whatsoever that the Church of God in Christ had a significant influence and part in the initial spiritual life of the "to become" Assembly of God brethren. The majority of these brethren were ordained by the Founder of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason. They were members of this church and because of racial issues, the Assemblies of God was founded I believe in 1914 and
@JITHINCHERIAN Greetings from the United States. I've been in the Assemblies of God all my life and had a relative of my grandmothers that was a missionary in India for many years. It is a blessing to know that her work produced fruit that continues to this day. Wonderful to hear this.
He kills all in Caanan but you can keep their virgin girls! and the land is turned from milk and honey to a desert of walled encampments. The oppression of woman by these one god peoples have made them aggressive, as oppression creates aggression its passed on to the children He made creatures that fly around heaping praise on him. he continually tests love even inflecting death on Jobs children.....oh yeah more dead children This god is pure middle eastern evil, THINK .......PLEASE

mmmm let me see, has own son murdered, plagues Egypt eventually killing all the first born, (hardens pharaohs heart so no chance to let the Jews go) he creates Satan to mislead man then punishes mankind for accessing knowledge, punishment .....Death for so far.... generations he sends a bear to kill mocking children yet forgives David for murdering a man to take his wife yet he takes the life of a couple who hold back some of what they've sold to give to the disciples
Interesting how the church started through revivals and people stepping away from the organised idea of church, but now its gone back to the opposite way. Ironic.

@eetsummorr It wasn't so much the "organization" as it was the suppression of the will of God and themove of His Holy Spirit. They were getting away from a "social" gospel.

I grew up in AG. My grandfather is an AG missionary. My father is a bible teacher at an AG church. The truth about Christ, salvation and repentance has always been emphasized in this group and I thank God for all of my Christian brothers in sisters in AG. Unfortunately, the doctrines involving the baptism and the filling of the spirit have been twisted and misunderstood by this group. A real exposition of scripture will affirm that tongues have indeed ceased and that the filling of the spirit i
@Alex0516 Tongues have not ceased, it is mentioned in Joel, Acts and throughout the New Testament that it is something that takes place in the church. Otherwise there would've been no mention after the initial Pentecost.
@Alex0516 Tongues have not ceased. They are mentioned in Joel all the way to Acts and throughout the New Testament. If tongues were meant to cease then why is it mentioned so often in Acts and the Epistles well after the initial Pentecost in Acts 2:4. God is the same yesterday, today and evermore.
we played this at the Samoan Assemblies of God conference one time when the former General Superintendent Pastor Thomas Trask ministered!!! LOVED IT!!!
This is the exact history of the Assemblies of God. It's MAN-MADE!!! Christ did NOT build this church. Christ promised to build only ONE church, and it's HIS church (Matt. 16:18). And HIS church was established on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2. Since Jesus Christ built HIS church, then the church wears HIS name. And there are many congregations that make up that ONE church, "The churches of Christ salute you" (Romans 16:16).
hey i don't know how often you read your comments. but i don't really understand the whole "speaking in tongues" thing. i was raised in a baptist family, so i don't know much about this form of worship. i'd love to know more though. is speaking in tongues required in AG beliefs or is it just a form of worship??
@EuphoriaMusicSession I was raised in a baptist church, but converted to AOG about 18yrs ago. Speaking in tongues is not required in AOG. No one can force you to speak in tongues. We just allow the Holy Spirit to speak through us as He wishes. Speaking in tongues w/the interpretation edifies the church & praying in tongues is self edification. I was taught that tongues had ceased but 1 Cor 13:9-10 says it will cease when the PERFECT has come. That Perfect is Jesus! It'll cease after the rapture.
I've been trying hard recently to find ways to get closer to God, and i think that converting to AG will help me out. everyone i know who claims to be AG (and who actually live like a Christian) seem to have it figured out.
@EuphoriaMusicSession Read John chapter 14 and the book of Acts. Pray and seek God for the Truth and you will find it. Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you, ask and it shall be given!
I wonder why there was no mention of Bishop Charles Harrison Mason who was the founder of the Church of God in Christ. It was the organization the the first General Coucil of the Assemblies of God came from. They separated from the Church of God in Christ because of social racial tensions. Bishop Charles Mason preached for their first convention in Hot Springs, AR in 1913. I guess some areas of history are better left unmentioned.
@revjonez1 Hmmm...There was just a brief (and I mean one second brief) mention of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) @ 5:15 but I was also taught that COGIC and Bishop C. H. Mason had a hand in the formation of the Assemblies of God...oh well
@revjonez1 I was wondering if this video would give mention to Bishop CH Mason... I understand that this video is just a brief snippet of a rich legacy, but he played a MAJOR part in the organizing of the the AOG. Thanks for mentioning Bishop CH Mason- founder of the Church of God In Christ.
I am a ag pentecostal and proud of it. Those who bash speaking in tongues, have no idea what they are saying having not experienced it themselves. I would invite any who dont believe in it to attend a church that does and feel the annointing power of god. He is in the midst. Then get back on here and tell us you still done believe. praise god and may god bless and keep you all. After all its not about any religion its about him and serving the best way you can with your whole heart.
I'm curious .. any comments about this fact of AG history?:
When Charles Fox Parham, a white Pentecostal pioneer and teacher of Seymour's (he had allowed Seymour to attend his Bible School on the condition that he sit outside a door left partially ajar), visited Azusa Street in October of 1906, he denounced the Revival as a "darky camp meeting." "What good can come from a self-appointed Negro prophet?" scoffed the mainstream newspapers.
The Assembly of God today is so different from years ago. It's mostly now a carnal, worldly, unholy mess. They need a thorough house cleaning. Get back to the Bible and really obeying Jesus. Out with all the health, wealth, and prosperity gospels. In with godly sorrow and true repentance written about in 2 Cor. 7
As one who, over the past 30 years or so, has experienced the gift of tongues amny times, I can assure you it is very real. You can debate everything except belief, and it is the very act of believing that is the only basis for spiritual experience.
In Acts 2 the tongues that were spoken were native languages to their home countries.....not jibberish to God like some practice today....everyone knew what each other was saying or else no one would have recieved the gospel and 3000 souls would not have been saved...just a little misinterpretation....but good vid...
@lioneltak I assume you're referring to verse 1? Paul is warning the church at corinth of pagan worship and their "tongues" that if it has no charity (christian love) then it is as of tinkling brass etc...Corinth was a center of trade and different diversities of "tongues" passed through.( Greek word for tongues is "glossa" which by greek definition means "the language or dialect used by a particular people distinct of other nations") they claimed to have many gifts(vers2) but no charity...
@lioneltak they're lots of scriptures on tongues you're going to have to be more specific by "other scriptures"....my wife and in laws are A/G and are wonderful christian people, and I have all the respect in the world for their Faith, and I have no doubt they love the Lord with all their hearts, but in my opinion tongues are misinterpreted...
Remember leaders of different Christian sects, the will of God is undivided Christianity. Give up your churches, no more Catholic, Protestants, Adventist, JW etc. If you think that I am wrong then prove that you are right. Ive asked the Lord for the two simultaneous explosion of volcano in the U.S. within this month of December, pray that it wouldnt happen, if despite of your prayer it does happen, then know that God is with me therefore you have to listen to me.
God is an awesome organization. What I like the most is they keep themselves accountable to others with their finances and other key aspects. Thank you for teaching me so much in my lifetime.
They need to play this video in every AOG church and let ppl see that we have forgot our roots and our true love....Lord wake us up!! Before its toooo late...Jesus is coming, Jesus is coming!!!
friend god helps those who help themselves if god is speaking to your heart about the goings on in your church its up to you to do what you can, just pray for god to guide you.
They need to play this video in all AOG churches. They all have lost the fire. So Charasmatic and even oriented. The roots of Pentecost are gone. We need to get back before its too late.
Its not the churches its the people in the churches. People need to get off the pew and worship with heart and god will do the rest. It is better to be ice cold then luke warm. But me id rather be on fire for him.
Im a AG in dinalupihan Bataan,Philippines i love this church, this is where I grow-up Jesus is My Shepherd Fellowship and Grace Through Christ fellowship.. Assemblies of God Hi to Rev. Ptr. Ver Fernandez and family and Rev. Ptr. Pines Mabini
My mother in-law, who is now in her 70's, is a "cradle Catholic". In spite of her strong and faithful service in and for the Catholic church she received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit about 25 years ago. She remains an active an faithful Catholic and keeps this Revelation somewhat secret. She shared it with me in the late 1980's. No Christian can, or should deny the power of the Holy Spirit!
Praise God and Peace to all my Christian brothers and sisters in "YouTubeLand"!
EARTHYGREEN,It is great and wonderful that you have filled your life with the Holy Spirit. Please do not struggle with the fact that you have to speak in tongues & have the Holy Spirit to be Whole and Know God.You may be filled with the Holy Spirit, but Remember,Speaking in tongue..is a GIFT,a GIFT from God.A gift is only given if he should choose it be given to you.I will have you in my prayers, and hope that the Holy Spirit will work within you and help translate this struggle for you.God Bless!
I've associated with AG my entire life. Literally. But I've never spoken suddenly in tongues and I know The Holy Spirit is within me. So for the church to declare that I must speak in tongue for me to have been filled with the Holy Spirit is not believable. I struggle with this immensely and am looking for another church.
I am straight out of the AG great foundation but there is to many politics so I attend non denominational church though. My dad was ordained by AG I have much love for the AG. I love the Azuza street revival. Great Video & keep it up AG & Masters Commision
I'm so glad to be a part of the Assemblies of God! In reference to another comment, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the church. However I must disagree, I attend one of the 17 Assemblies of God colleges and 90% of professors hold doctorates degrees; and emotionalism is not pushed. Notice that of the 16 doctrines of the church, Salvation, the fall of man, the sovereignty of God, water baptism as well as many other things are the most important teachings of the scriptures and the church!
@dan84037 There is nothing wrong with emotionalism. It's in the Bible throughout. KIng David was emotional when he danced out of his outer garments. We are not to let emotions dictate our life in Christ, we are to rule our emotions. That doesn't mean that you can't show emotions.
I attended an A/G church for a bit, when I was a young and gullible college student. Eventually I outgrew the denomination's childish emotionalism, lack of depth, and an inbred nepotism.
I think the denomination draws people who are, for the most part, unsophisticated, uneducated, and lacking any ability for critical thinking. Anyone who seeks intellectual stimulation as a significant part of their spiritual life should not waste their time with the A/G.
wha... anyway..I guess what u are trying to say is that most of the AOG members are morons///thats the way I perceived it...anyway, Pinoy ka pa naman...Bro..it is a matter of choice..
I get that you're angry. But there are answers. And not every AOG church is the same. It's almost...ALMOST run the way the Baptist work. They really are autonomic. You could have a solid biblically based church in one town and a Benny Hinn Circus in the next. Both touting AOG on their scripture sign. It's enough to make one go batty.
We can not forget our roots and the Pentecostal movement. We can not let the world change our standards and our doctrines. We need a holyghost revival.
Good Grief. You're sounding like the crazy Benny Hinns. Stop using the catch phrases and be serious. There have been enough heart broken people because of the likes of Todd Bentley. Put away your 'holy ghost machine-guns' and witness to people - don't bring them to hysterics.
it's so nice to know the history of the assemblies of God.. i'm a youth of City Assembly of God in General Santos City, Philippines.. our church has a church planting activity this summer.. Please pray for this church planting.. Thank you, God bless you!:)
Wow..A mission minded church is a growing church..Thats what we are called to do is to GO EVERYWHERE and preach the Gospel..Good Luck on that..Will be praying on this side..God Bless.
hi!:) thank you for your prayers, the church planting activity was very successful. i recently uploaded a documentary video on it. let's continue to pray for the new converts. God bless you!:)
AOG used to be the front runner for teaching the Holy Spirit, NOT anymore ours here is Albany, Oregon sold out to "Show Time" commercialism, politically correct.......they even painted Looney Tunes in the Pre-school dept.....
sounds like someone is asshamed of the Gospel....makes me sad very sad
It's not what is over the door, friends, it is what is in your heart. It is between you and the Lord.
Bloom where God plants you, and study His word for the truth.

Why is that the Assemblies Of God REFUSE to acknowlegde that they were formed from within the Church Of God In Christ? The church during this time was called the Churches Of God In Christ, then AFTER outsiders began to talk about (Blacks & Whites) worshipping together in the same place and were in HARMONY & FELLOWSHIP, those leaders who became the founders of AOG went to Bishop Mason, asked his blessings to branch off and begIn AOG. Why isn't this noted in the historicity of the AOG?
PastorNez 8 months ago

But I will say that I've seen some speak in tongues and they were doing something on their own (not Holy Spirit uttered) as that fruit showed up.
lioneltak 11 months ago

Dusthills84 11 months ago
@lioneltak I posted that comment like a year ago and you asked me a question and I answered, I respect your Faith, doctrine and you obviously have a strong foundation in Jesus Christ as do I. You are very correct about having a common enemy.. That being said, I do enjoy a friendly discussion on church doctrine and interpretation of scriptures. I enjoy studying many doctrines and the Lord has spoken to me on it consuming all my time instead of reaching the lost, I've promised him I won't let it.
Dusthills84 11 months ago
Again Jesus said, "new tongues" not unknown. And Paul later confirms a distinguishment in saying tongues of men or angels. Strongs #1100 defines glossa in that passage: "of uncertain affinity; the tongue; by implication a language (specially one naturally unacquired) :- tongue." In Acts 2:4 it says "other tongues" while in Mark 16:17 Jesus says "new tongues" and later on another occasion spoke of them waiting on the Holy Ghost. There is a reason He distinguished between new & unknown.
lioneltak 11 months ago
Yes intrepretation is important but most scripture is quite direct. Mark 16:17; say what you will but the Word still says "new tongues" meaning tongues yet to be known or they wouldn't be new. As forestated the testimony of millions today and in times past from Acts and onward can't be discounted. But as a wise man once said you can't park a car where there is no garage. There must first be a willing mind. Let us love one another beyond this even.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@lioneltak direct interpretation: Book of Mark written in Greek. "Tongues" translated from the Greek word glossa meaning a language used by a particular people in distinction from that of other nations. The tongue is not yet known by the speaker but is a known language by a particialr people. For example if there was a man from a Middle eastern country in front of you and he started preaching in his native tongue, would you KNOW the language? Arabic? Hebrew? Kurdish? Or is it unknown to you?
Dusthills84 11 months ago
@lioneltak Sorry Sir I can't go by everyone else's indisputable experiences nor "wise men's quotes", thus there would be thousands of experiences and quotes that would contradict each other and I would be totally confused. I can only pray that the Lord will guide me through HIS scriptures. I pray everytime I study that he would have me understand His Word the way He meant it to be. I am just 25 years old and hope to grow in the scriptures and in wisdom for many years to come. God Bless.
Dusthills84 11 months ago
I've heard indisputable testimonies of people praying in tongues via Holy Ghost about situations across the world that they were unaware of only to find out that at the exact same time they were praying in tongues for that person and the miraculous happened.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@Dusthills48 No book could contain all of what Christ did in 33yrs let alone since Creation. Romans 8:26 is not referring to our innermost feelings but specifically says, we no not what we ought to pray for so the Spirit makes intercessions for us.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@Dusthills48 I mentioned the Romans scripture to point out that there are things that no language on this earth has words for. Paul also experienced things in the "heavenlys" that were unlawful to he uttered. What I'm trying to say is take the limits off of God. You have limited Him to your understanding of the scripture. The written Word is not the totality of who He is, especially since no man as you forestated has the full revelation of the Word.
lioneltak 11 months ago
But then I read a somewhat weightier article that was about the Bible, and that directly addressed the issue of whether we are letting the Bible's own story define our reality, or whether we are using our own experience to determine the way we view the Scriptures.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@lioneltak I have a wonderful spirit-filled life and Faith that can move a mountain..But i can have allll the faith in my faith to move that mountain. but if it is not in God's will, it aint' going anywhere :) I promise God has revealed Himself to me in the greatest way possible and that is my eternal salvation, and the only evidence I need to know that I have the Holy Spirit in me is through the Fruits of the Spirit.
Dusthills84 11 months ago
@lioneltak oh the comment on "letting the Bible's own story define our reality" is that directed to me or to yourself? I like to view the scriptures the way they were written as in greek in this situation cause sometimes King James tended to do this, as in the case of Baptism. In greek its Baptizo which is translated as "immerse" but K.J. practiced sprinkling in his church, so he decided to leave it untranslated and made up the english word Baptize to make his practice right!! What !! I know!!
Dusthills84 11 months ago
@lioneltak by the way...I never said it was impossible and completely understand, obviously it happened 2000 years ago and would have been great to have witnessed...but it is no longer practiced that way in many churches as in Acts, which is to spread the gospel to people that you at first had no way of sharing the gospel with because you couldnt communicate with them, now they speak in "tongues" and translate it to the language that we already know lol...sounds similar...or no it doesn't:)
Dusthills84 11 months ago
I have heard people speak in tongues unknown and understood what was said which was confirmed when seconds later it's spoke in plain English. May God reveal Himself to you in a greater way brother He will blow your mind if you let Him..blessings.
lioneltak 11 months ago
It seems as though you have limited God to your reasoning. Btw Jesus said that we coud move mountains if we have faith. And I with childlike faith believe that if He said it that it's true. Just because you don't understand it does not mean it's impossible. You cannot discount the testimony of millions of fire baptized believers who have experienced this and know it's of God.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@lioneltak Oh yeah? If your interpretation is correct that "I" or "Paul" speaks regarding himself in "tongues of men and angels" once again you are leaving out verses 2 and 3 where "I" know all mysteries and "I" have all knowledge "I" give all to the poor and give his body to be burned with no Charity! hmm..that doesn't sound like Paul at all now does it?...might as well throw out my Bible if I'm going to leave out what I don't want to read.
Dusthills84 11 months ago
In that very scripture Paul speaks of "unknown tongues". Unknown to men... Also read Mark 16:17, Rom. 8:26 but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@lioneltak The verses have no relevence to each other at all. Romans 8:28 refers to the Spirits interpretation of the beleiver's innermost feelings on our behalf that CANNOT BE PUT INTO WORDS, and usually words are vital to speaking a language. And Mark 16:17 talks of the signs to come (pentecost) like casting out devils, speaking new languages taking up serpents, drinking deadly things and being not harmed...now if you wanna drink cyaninde while holding cobras while speaking greek, be my guest.
Dusthills84 11 months ago
It is quite obvious that Paul is referring to speaking with the tongues of earth and of heaven, men and angels. Besides Paul is speaking of himself not the Corinthians: Though "I" speak.... Paul was a Jew, a Pharisee of Pharisees and never took part in unclean pagan practices.
lioneltak 11 months ago
How do you know exactly what Coronthian pagans are doing relative to what Paul is saying? You seem to believe your study of the Corinthians over the Word.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@lioneltak...last I checked Corinthians was in my bible :)
Dusthills84 11 months ago
@lioneltak....Paul is not directly talking to you and me..he is writing to the problems that the Corinthinas were having at this time and we must apply it to our lives today...if there were a man on a street corner talking in ten languages and swearing to know all things and saying Bill the wizard gave me these powers and he can do the same for you because he is the real master, he has no charity, which is Christian love, then he is nothing because Christ is everything....now it has been applied
Dusthills84 11 months ago
See Acts 19:1-6 In verse 6 the Bible says that after they recieved the Holy Ghost they spake with other tongues and prophesied. Did they not know how to speak a language until they recieved the Holy Ghost? These obviously are tongues that the Holy Ghost gave them utterance to speak.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@lioneltak agreed. This is the same power that the Holy Spirit gave Peter and others in Acts 2, a known language, to tell the Gospel other nations without even having to study it, which is not the same as used in many churches today when no one knows what each other is saying..if the whole church can speak english than it profits more to speak english....Paul teaches of speaking 5 known words than 10,000 of an unknown ones...it would profit nothing if you preached to me in Russian now would it?
Dusthills84 11 months ago
@lioneltak...If you believe that Jesus died for your sins and is the one true God then there is no use even wasting our time with this doctrinal arguement...:) We could discuss security of the believer, wheather or not women can be the head of a church, or even open and closed communion. I am obviously not A/G but I know there will be Catholics, Pents, A/G's, Baptists, etc in heaven...and I'll be looking for you when I get there brother. (or sister)
Dusthills84 11 months ago
@dusthills84 In 1Corinthians 13:1 Paul says, "the tongues of men and of angels." Obviously Paul is speaking of the tongues of earthly languages as in Acts 2:4 which the believer had never learned naturally but of the Spirit. Secondly the tongues of "angels" is clearly referencing a heavenly tongue as we do not regularly converse with angels. Simply speaking a language is not a gift, he is obviously speaking of the tongues by which the Holy Spirit gives utterance (Acts 2:4).
lioneltak 11 months ago

God bless the AOG and COGIC to be all that God TRULY called them to be... one in Jesus Christ!
lioneltak 11 months ago
It's very sad to see that they decided to leave out the fact that the Assemblies of God founding ministers were ordained by the Church of God in Christ founder Bishop C.H. Mason. Bishop Mason gave his blessing to them to start AOG. They only briefly mentioned the COGIC for the initial assembly. Failed to show any pics or mention their close ties and history with the Church of God in Christ. Whites and blacks worshiped together for years until racism caused divide.
lioneltak 11 months ago

4676eckjr 1 year ago
In listening to this incomplete documentary . . . it's evident that there in "absolutely" no mention whatsoever that the Church of God in Christ had a significant influence and part in the initial spiritual life of the "to become" Assembly of God brethren. The majority of these brethren were ordained by the Founder of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason. They were members of this church and because of racial issues, the Assemblies of God was founded I believe in 1914 and

EuphoriaMusicSession 1 year ago
@EuphoriaMusicSession I was raised in a baptist church, but converted to AOG about 18yrs ago. Speaking in tongues is not required in AOG. No one can force you to speak in tongues. We just allow the Holy Spirit to speak through us as He wishes. Speaking in tongues w/the interpretation edifies the church & praying in tongues is self edification. I was taught that tongues had ceased but 1 Cor 13:9-10 says it will cease when the PERFECT has come. That Perfect is Jesus! It'll cease after the rapture.

@Dusthill84 Explain the tongues spoken of in 2Corinthians 13 and other scriptures.
lioneltak 11 months ago
@lioneltak I assume you're referring to verse 1? Paul is warning the church at corinth of pagan worship and their "tongues" that if it has no charity (christian love) then it is as of tinkling brass etc...Corinth was a center of trade and different diversities of "tongues" passed through.( Greek word for tongues is "glossa" which by greek definition means "the language or dialect used by a particular people distinct of other nations") they claimed to have many gifts(vers2) but no charity...
Dusthills84 11 months ago
@lioneltak they're lots of scriptures on tongues you're going to have to be more specific by "other scriptures"....my wife and in laws are A/G and are wonderful christian people, and I have all the respect in the world for their Faith, and I have no doubt they love the Lord with all their hearts, but in my opinion tongues are misinterpreted...

Give up your churches, no more Catholic, Protestants, Adventist, JW etc. If you think that I am wrong then prove that you are right. In spite of her strong and faithful service in and for the Catholic church she received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit about 25 years ago.

AOG was once a true on fire church for God, but, now is apostate, apostate, apostate.
I believe a few AOG ministers follow God in all truths but I am sure they are Closet Classic Pentecostals or they would be thrown out.
Speak up and Speak out against the AOG apostasy as Opal Redin did right up to her death.
God raise up more Opal's in these apostate last days!
