If I tell students that I will almost guarantee them 60K loans to go through college with minimal interest, what would happen to the actual price of universities? Prices would go up, to more like 60K for 4 years in a private school and so forth. The market will assume that people are willing to spend 60K for their service, so they will up their price. If not many people could afford to go to college, and government did not subsidized students, prices would drop dramatically.
The government doesn't need to promote social mobility as an end, even by means of public education. If they wanted to promote mobility they could just hold lotteries everyday where we give out the savings of the rich to a random poor person. Bam! Instant social mobility in action, lol. Public education should try to actually educate people, the goal should not be getting them a job. This is what is wrong with our public education, it creates specialists instead of intellegent people.
Karl Marx was right. Communism is the next evolutionary step after capiatlism.
The government should regulate prices like they did in the 1970s. Cap the price of oil at 10 cents a gallon so even a homeless guy who lives in their car can get gas.
The government should practice wealth redistribution like in the Soviet Union and take money from wealthier people and give it to the homelss because its not fair that they dont have a job and therefore money.
Democrat sponsors act OK'd by Senate panel that would cost 0.7% of gross national product "In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that (U.N.) declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention of Biological Diversity
Advisors such as Austan Goolsbee should be straightway SCRAPPED along with Obama's other economic pro-NAFTA associates and replaced with PROGRESSIVE advisors like union activists from UNITE or liberal muckrakers. Or even Jim Hightower or William Greider, for that matter. Obama, hurry up and ditch this centrist bozo butt.
I'd have to agree with a couple of other users' comments posted on Pt. 2 of this interview. That is, this interviewer isn't very good.
Many of his questions don't seem to be very sophisticated or well researched. Many of his questions sound like they were drawn from generalizations made by the mass media on specific issues like education, free trade, and economic equality issues.
