  • This song is well before my time, and i must admit i listen to mostly progressive modern rock, or indie acoustic music.. but i love this song. I remember being a kid and seeing my parents listening to this as they would sit and reminisce their past together... They are now divorced and that has affected me alot. I Love both of them and wish i saw them more, im now 21 and on my own with my own house and can now relate to this song just like they could. Good song.

  • I'm so glad i grew up in the 80's.

  • This song had meaning to me in the 80s when I was a teenager...today it has those same meanings plus so many more...very powerful and so very true...

  • it's so hard watching the one you love, love someone else. It's always best to look away.

  • This is to my hubby if we ever part

  • this song reminds me of my ex to this was our song

  • This is a good video and im glad people stil play it

  • I am fifteen years young, and I think that the 80's should be brought back. GREAT MUSIC. And my momma would be thrilled as well! :D

  • @AdamGreeby Me too man. Hadnt heard this song before so I thought id come check out the number one hit for when i was born. Been a while since i listened to Chicago.

  • @AdamGreeby me too!

  • @AdamGreeby We were both born on the same day, and we're both Adam. Rock on, brother.

  • @AdamGreeby haha, agreed.

  • This song was at first made for Europe, but Joey Tempest didnt want it.

  • THIS SONG TOTALLY REMINDS ME OF MY X

  • Thumbs up if your high school years brought you here! I miss my 80's!

  • Essa foi a musica inspiradora para a minha concepção.....A musica da é poca em que eu nasci....Legal :)

  • Diane wrote this song for Europe to sing and they passed on it.

  • hehe, this was number one in 89, my birth year...hehe, funny. ^-^

  • @JadeHikage

Mine too! May '89! :D Thats how I found out about this song lol

  • wen i first heard this song i was getting layed by a 29 year old hot girl, and i was 17,still member it like it was yesterdau..

  • "❤♫•*❤♫•*❤♫•*❤ I get the massage , its all good Baby, love you always, ME"❤♫•*❤♫•*❤♫•*❤

  • i havent listened to this song in 4ever

  • This song should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a exhibit showing what can happen when a key part of a rock band suddenly dies (Like Terry Kath with this band, Keith Moon with The Who, and so on and so forth) and decides to carry on. Like, does anybody remember ANYTHING that The Who did when Moon passed, apart from "Eminence Front"? Exactly. This is a song that Chicago wouldn't even THINK of doing 20 years ago. RIP Terry Kath.

  • When I "get real unfortunate", this is what I play in the last week of the fantasy baseball season. Other than that, I've come to terms with God and His outcomes.

  • ahhhhhhh my jr.high dance days!!! thx 4 the memories! my break up song of 88

  • this song emphasizes a hopeless situation ~

  • No matter how old we are the music of Chicago and the 80 s musik will never day!

  • What is most depressing about hearing this song is there will never be music like this ever again. The emotion is unbelievable.

  • @TheSkeptic1976 you can say that again, Growing up with this music was awesome, with out it I don't know what I would of done, THe music they come out with now, It is not heartfelt like the songs we grew up with find it harder to relate to the music coming out these days at least not like I was able to back then... maybe that is why it was a great time. No It was a Blast in a Glass!

  • @TheSkeptic1976 Everything about the 80's was incredible.

  • @mkkris73 are you nuts? lol nothing was great about aqua net, bright colors, and the pet shop boys >.<

  • @mkkris73 you can say that again. I loved the 80's and all the hair bands. Lived in Tampa and saw all the great bands.

  • I said I'm happy for ya'. But I was lyin'.

  • I'm sorry, Ferdie. I hope your life is full of love and happiness.

  • Last I knew, these guys weren't in the R&R hall of fame. How is that possible?

  • @599891 there so awesome they don't need to be xD

  • I remember buying the 45 record of this song. Back when songs were worth going out to the store and buying.

  • As great as this song is, I can't help but think it would have been even better if Peter Cetera was singing it.

  • Sorry, but after all the great Chicago music, this pales in comparison. And to think it went number one? why? Oh well.

  • I love this song. I fist heard it when I was 5, then 3 months ago, I heard it around 4 times on Sirius 80's on 8 on a trip to Pigeon Forge, TN(the entire vacation, not the trip). I can't get it out of my head, along with "Stop Dragging My Heart Around".

  • Bu plagi sana hediye almistim...........

  • wow i feel like such an asshole... i know that as a teen, relationships dont last long.. but i dated some girl for 2months.. we broke up.. next couple days me and my bestfriend hooked up.. they hated eachother and i can only picture the pain that gave her </3

  • I love this music so much it molded my life ,of who I am today

  • I'll never forget that day I peed my pants at school. This song brings back a lot of memories

  • It sucks when your realy into this girl alot but you know she aint into you :(

  • @KevMan2316 i know how that feels

  • @hirokisa234 yup its always that way for me because im a bigger guy.

  • @KevMan2316

Same for girls who are really into this guy a lot but he's just not interested.

  • Great catchy tune. I've just bought the single when I was 13 years old and played it a couple of weeks.

  • my ex sent me this song in the mail .. after i ran away with my current hubby .. i now feel bad

  • not many people are fortunate to find perfection...

    I did.

what made it imperfect was, it didn't last.

  • I saw my ex on the street one day. She didn't look away and I cried like a baby. But I can take the news OK.

  • wow,its been years,i just heard this song and i made me cry again.. sam..1985-86.

  • wow,its been years,i jusheard this song and i made me cry again.. sam..1985-86.

  • My favorite elementary dump song... Awwww poor me.. Now What was his/her name again???

  • y si, todo lo bueno es terapéutico...

  • This song is about heartbreak, and recovering from it

  • i think chingy stole his name design from them. sort of. O.o

  • Bring back the 80's! Great song.

  • WHO CARES IF PEOPLE USE YT AS GROUP THERAPY? PEOPLE ARE ENTITLED TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT, SO LET THEM BE AND STOP WHINING!!!!

  • awsome song!!!

  • this honestly reminds me of the good days back in the 80's... When music meant something, now its all about money and the popularity...

  • @summerdrewel04 ..I AGREE 200%

  • @summerdrewel04 Er, you know this song was written by Diane Warren, not the band, right? Really, if you think about it, Chicago in the 1980's WAS about money, in a way. Like, why would they rely on Professional Pop Songwriters to write their material for them? Think about that.

  • bring back the 80's. most music today is crap

  • @alaska19721 some of todays music is okay but it gets old really quick

  • @alaska19721 no...alll is crap..lol

  • @alaska19721 amen

  • Getting dumped?

    .

It sucks. Feels like someone ripped out your soul

    .

  • If you see me walking by, and you see my big brown eye...... look away, baby look away ... LOL

  • Chicago hit #1 in Billboard, 12-10-88. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • mid-to-late 80s Chicago is so different from the 70s Chicago. It's almost like 2 different bands. They went from a jazz/swing band to a bubblegum pop band, I am loving it though.

  • 12 people were born in 1997 en really dont know the legacy of music!!!

  • I will always love this song and I dont care how old it is. It is the words I could never say and I have lived this regret for years.

  • Champlin's best contribution to Chicago during his 28 year stint with the band. I'm a CHICAGO fan since Day 1...seen them play 50+ times since 1970. Lou Pardini does a brilliant job or picking up for Champlin. Lou's keys are great, as are his vocals...Make Me Smile, Dialogue, etc. Lou is having a ball every single night! What a pro! Nice work getting Lou Pardini, guys!

  • Champlin's best contribution to Chicago during his 28 year stint with the band.

  • Well it is a beautiful and very passionate song. Obviously there is a lot of pain in the lyrics and the meaning of the song. I agree this isn't a group therapy discussion board; but a song like this can't help but stir up some painful memories for some people. I understand completely. They probably feel safe sharing their feelings here cause we all obviously like the song probably for similar reasons.

  • Absolutely love this song.

  • try being dumped and not even knowing you got dumped and than when you ask what happened..NOTHING! he disappears like a fart in the wind..3 months now..still have NO clue what happened..maybe it would be easy if they passed a law to make sure ppl were responsible "dumpers" like mandatory closure! LOL

  • @TheKOBELLA There is an excellent book called "He's Scared, She's Scared". What you describe is described in the book exactly as a commitment-phobic person. Some of my relationships were pictured in the book as if the author's had been there. The good thing about the book is that it teaches you how to walk through your grief now and what to look for to avoid being in that situation again. Good luck to you.

  • Sad

  • funny that I was dumped, and than this song came around, XD hahah i thought is was kindda humor;p

  • The #1 song of 1989.

  • Song for Sad Miami Heat fans.

  • As a Peter Cetera fan I'm shocked that they were able to make such a great song without him

  • Hell of a song. Not the kinda song to go listining to right after you broke up with somebody though. heh

  • @ilivelovenlaugh Haha okay. It was just kinda weird.

  • @ilivelovenlaugh I this a serious question?

  • this song makes me think that rape is a reasonable option.

  • @TheTarheel2011 it's true,I think Peter Cetera would have done much better!!

  • holy cow!!! awesome song, but it's not the same without peter cetara! (i have no idea how to spell his last name!!)

  • LOVE THIS SONG

    thanks for sharing

  • I don't care who got dumped or when, I just like the song.

  • Why is 80's music so damn elite? its the best stuff ever on a sunny day.

  • dont look at me..i dont want you to see me this way..

  • We ALL have been fucked over. It's bullshit that it happens, but it does. Suck it the fuck up and move forward, dipshits.

  • @dynelol

    Herp derp sympathy.

I'm not here complaining about someone leaving, but it's pretty insensitive to tell people to simply "move on."

Yes, it happens all the time, someone leaves you and finds someone else.

But that doesn't make it any less real for the person experiencing it first-hand.

  • @DimmuKornReflux

And it'll probably continue to happen and you'll be more thick-skinned each time it does. Eventually you won't give that much of a shit anymore.

  • awwwww the precious memories

  • Me enamoré de esta canción <3

  • wow! stretchable! nice!

  • this song is powerful

  • Music for straight guys that like hot women.

  • nice but funny

  • exacly what im living right now ahhhh makes me cry

  • exacly what im living right now ahhhh makes me cry

  • I like this song .. but this song should never be 'dedicated' to anyone lol .. you'd just look like a total bitch

  • this song reminds me of when my corvette got repossessed

  • i really love this song even though its for those broken heart,.but no offense i've watch atleast five of there live concert there different tune.,,.just my own opinion pips!

  • This was the #1 Billboard pop song for the entire year of 1989 after being released in October 1988. It spent 2 weeks at the #1 spot in late 1988 on the Billboard pop chart. It was Chicago's third and last #1 pop hit.

with my finger in the sky,

don't look away baby don't look away

and if we meet on the corner some day

and I have no money to pay,

don't look away baby don't look away

    Don't look at me

I don't want to see your face again

That 's what he was thinking

  • if you see me walking by

and if we meet on the corner some day

and I have no money to pay,

  • Chicago rules!!!!!!

  • I hate music that is popular now, i love 80`s music like Chicago.

My dad told me about Chicago a year ago or something..... but i cant stop listening when i am listening to Chicago, i cant stop!!

  • i broke a few hearts to this song- but later in life somehow i remember every single one- werid.

  • Dang? all these so called dumped women well i never had any vagina and i'm 45 yrs. old look up KF6LIL on google then come up with my website & on the bottom of it e-mail me

  • wow thats just funny you people need to go to therapy for this

  • We were better off as friends

  • Makes me think of 9th grade

  • THIS IS CHICAGO!? I had no idea!

  • thank you for this lovely video i like it so much the song really strikes me and feeling

    brokenhearted :(

  • hahaha I like this song, but I'm not a fan of people using this page as a group therapy session; "I can't hear this song without thinking of my ex boyfriend/girlfriend" or my favorite "I got dumped in 3rd grade".. boo hoo!!! lol

  • @executivelance I both agree and disagree. Music should make you feel things and you should share them. But than again I've been dumbed before and didn't have to complain about it.

  • @mariopuzofan

Spoken like a true Mario Puzo fan. In his books the Mafia men never bitched to each other about women and all, because they are the least important among all the things they had to attend to. Don Corleone told his godson Johnny Fontane to "be a man" and was happy when the latter took his advice without any form of personal retaliation unlike his three sons who'd sulk, leave the house, keep numb etc.

Cross is too young and soft with Athena Aquitaine that made his Sicilian

  • @mariopuzofan

friend miss America, and he also risked violent punishment and great disdain from Don Clericuzio if the Godfather knew the extent of what he did (using the Family's men and resources) for a woman.

His books although I understand he was sandwiched in the middle (he had to maintain the same respect on both ends of the scale - the mafia and the government and its agencies) make for interesting and at times, even educational read.

  • @SeventhSun Very true. Read the book Omerta, which is also by Puzo, if you want an interesting view on the Mafia and government agencies.

  • @executivelance dude i agree with you some of these people need to grow up

  • @executivelance That's awesome. It was my third grade first crush that I associate this song with. You didn't sit by a little twirp named Jeff with spiked hair did you?

  • @executivelance lol thats for sure!

  • @executivelance Music affects people in different ways..Music helps to heal the soul..how it affects you is different than how it affects someone else..Personally this song reminds me of my childhood in Puerto Rico...wether you are a fan or not is not the point.

  • @executivelance At least someone here realizes that they shouldnt be crying about their problems on comments for videos on friggin' YouTube :)

  • People shouldn't be in love, just get married to someone they kind a get long with.

    And split the energy bill.

  • This video gets fifty awesome points for the LSD effects it has on my eyes. YAYFORINSANITY~

  • This is the worst worst worst song to ever hear when you've broken up with someone you care about... god it made me sob so much when I was young. Glad my heart got a little resilience over the years--oh, 80s, you were so cruel with the sweeping ballads of Journey, REO Speedwagon, Air Supply, Chicago... even in good times, they broke you from the inside out. Movies like Karate Kid didn't help (for What Kind of Man would I be etc)... huge sighs...

  • 6 PEOPLE DIDN'T LOOK AWAY

  • I just got dumped like 2 months ago I heard this song at work and tryed so hard not to cry. ( IT WAS SO HARD)

  • @summergirl365 I know how you feel. My life is finally getting back on track after I got dumped in early November

  • @mariopuzofan Reading this comment you posted 7 months ago, I hope your feeling better since you last posted.

  • @SpaRtanl33tz Thanks. I do indeed. A new job did wonders for everything.

  • @summergirl365 sorry, its hard to lose someone that you care for

  • These songs sure do stir up feelings we wish would go away....

  • brilliant vocals from Bill Champlin!!

  • i <3 this song!! i broke the replay

  • sad song yet, is the classic case of most break ups! I would feel that way inside, but never put it into words...cause that would only bring me to weakness...i would break my own heart by destroying memories we had...and focus on something else that is emotionally developing and challenging...maybe sports, works, or anything...farming shrimps.

  • this song reminds me and my ex gf! its hard becasue i siill love her!
