Okay, you professors, even the most basic Karaoke machines have an echo function. How does a dark room impact where they are lip-syncing? And how often does a lip-sync recording just happen to have notes cut short so one of the performers can mess up and hold back a laugh, not to mention occasionally singing off key.

It's lip syncing. You can't make the noises you are making with the way your mouth and lips are.

its more-so what's going on inside your mouth. the positioning of your tongue will alter the sound of the vowels way more than the lip placement. and if you listen, they have fairly bright vowels, and since usually their lips are brought back "wide" that would cause the bright sounding vowels. hopefully you are not a singer, because you apparently dont know any of the fundamentals to singing.
