There are ALWAYS exceptions, like MTL, who was a cinderella team that no one expected to make it past 1st round last year. Don't use 1 exception as your point of argument. You saying Leafs will be the exception? the one team that will get lucky and buy their way to the playoffs through free agency?
History has shown you have a much better chance building a championship through the draft in ALL MAJOR SPORTS, rather than buying your way through.

Clear example was from that TSN clip where they just spill out Kessel saying things when they don't even show what he was answering to. If you watched the entire interview it was pretty clear he was responding to the new line combinations.

Think leafs were better off holdin those picks. Chicago and Pittsburgh did that and got Kane/Toews & Crosby/Malkin.
