become a regular at pow wows? if you go to college, try to learn if there are any native american student unions. and look into supporting various political things involving various rights for native americans or what have you. if you show your passion/concern, you'll get more recognition and respect for it.

i dont think i actually know any that are that into it. it's sort of just a community thing.
become a regular at pow wows? if you go to college, try to learn if there are any native american student unions. and look into supporting various political things involving various rights for native americans or what have you. if you show your passion/concern, you'll get more recognition and respect for it.

Native means local: native color, crops, customs. ALL people born in China are native to China, regardless of their complexion. As logic dictates: ALL people born in America are native to America. There was once a political party called the Native American Party & it had nothing to do with the Red Man. The aboriginal people who greeted the Norsemen were reminiscent of the Indians of the sub-continent that's modern-day India. The term "Native American" applied to Amerindians is redundant.

i think that's the main reason people are reluctant to name us any other way. if we get called indian, people get annoyed and are like 'DEY R NAWT FRUM INDIA!' but if we call ourselves 'native american indian' or what have you..well you can imagine the onslaught that would happen. because technically..then that would mean we are just normal citizens born from america who happen to also have east indian ancestry..

The black haired, sallow-skinned, body hair-lacking people of this continent, who met Chris Columbus @ Cat Island, are akin, appearance-wise, to the peo. of the sub-content called India, therefor calling them Indians is no less accurate as are the terms Occidental, Oriental, Mongoloid, and Australasian when applied to whites, Chinamen & Polynesians.
