The media might be a little biased on Mugabe. He is against the US being in Zimbabwae, and many of his supporters agree. The US does not have a clean track record of instilling puppet governments (Iran, Chile, East Timor, and others that are classified) so I'm not sure your portrayal of Mugabe is credible.
I haven't been to Zimbabwe, but I think everyone can agree that that country is in crisis. Thousands are suffering from cholera now, the latest humanitarian crisis on a long list. And why hasn't Morgan Tsvangirai stepped into any role after Mugabe "agreed" to a power sharing agreement in September? Plus my representation of Mugabe's spokesman is based on a real quote; he said he believed the UK wanted to invade.

Also, based on what Sec'y of State Condoleezza Rice has said publicly, I infer there's no interest in the US government becoming directly involved in that country.
I wish we would use soft power and help countries out of such crisis as Cholera. It would have cost only 70 billion dollars (before the Iraq war) to bring potable water to the entire world. Yet we squander our money on war, setting up Afghanistan with armies and police that they cannot afford, and continue to fight "nuclear" development. Nuclear is 50 years old. Now everyone hates us... so yes we should be scared if they get the atomic bomb. What a time we live through!
