  • I love Lou Reed but this is the worst shit I ever heard. Oh my god...say NO to drugs.

  • GREAT!

  • Lou reed... so sad I can't get enough.

  • Awesome!!!

  • An excellent reworking of a beautiful Velvet Underground song written by Lou...

  • Maybe if Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber or Adam Lambert did the song, the girls with the negative comments would be happy.

The amount of talent on that stage was staggering. The performance was powerful.

  • I think I've brought this up before -- but Lou Reed is starting to look EXACTLY like Bill Adama from Battlestar Galactica.

  • @FreedomZealot He also looks a bit like Red Simons.

  • lol the blind nigga can't see his guitar is out of tune... what..? oh wait...

The other blind niggas can't see they're not singing at the same time. Wat.

  • @ESP4thaWin

Your ignorant foolishness does not surprise me. people live to please themselves with blind disregard for the greater good of humanity, how sad.

  • @tflyer70

    "to BLIND disregard..."

    I love you <3

  • webmovietube is an amazinf website to watch movies online for free

  • Lou Reed and his band of Ray Charles impersonators!

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99 Blind Boys of Alabama were already making music when Ray Charles was only 9...

  • @rixclipz Whoops...

  • @rixclipz And I think that some of them are still original members from the 30's. That is what you call a love for what you do.

  • I just watched this video twice. I don't often do that.

  • this movie is awesome..going to watch this in webmovietube

  • Lou did you write that song?

    Yeah.

  • Um, I left out the word OUTSTANDING.

  • This must be one of the most performances I have ever seen anywhere, TV or live, or what have you. Just musical magic.

  • i know they're supposed to be blind, but are they deaf as well ?

  • Larry Norman satirized the 70's religious pop music on "Streams of White Light" lp, questioning their sincerity as profits in their own time, Hollywood be their name. He covered the Stones "Shine a Light", Leon Russel "Stranger in a Strange Land", Harrisons "My Sweet Lord", Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" etc with a certain sense of irony as a believer.

But he never covered Lou Reed's Jesus though familiar with VU; and that is a complement to Reed.

  • jesus......christ lou reed needs to retire,im not hating he's the ultimate rock poet but age like with most is slowly catching up. he's getting on 70.

  • @FlyingDoctor1988

    really?!

You shouldn't make art at a certain age?

What the hell is wrong with you?

  • @xlerosx of course you can, being an admirer and and avid fan of his work, i have massive expectations whenever i see him live. he's the reason i picked up a guitar, but maybe im wrong with my opinion, with artists like chuck berry at 84 still jiving.

  • in a perfect world this would be the worship team at my church!

  • they sounded a bit off in the beginning

  • AWesoME,, Lou Reed looks and sounds great.. Rock on Lou Reed!!! You are living legend.

  • LOVE IT

  • Shouldn't it be "Lou Reed w/ BBoA"?

The song was written by Lou after all. Maybe Lou was showing respect but I don't know...

  • @LouReedsBooks i assume he guested on their album or something, covering that song. so technically its their gig. either way, it is tits!

  • Groovy tune.

  • crazy

lou reed start the real crazy music of all the times

  • fukin hell, this is terrible :s someone please shoot lou reed. and save one bullet for chris cornell.

  • The strange thing - this show aired opposite Conan's last show so it probably had the lowest rating of any recent Letterman show. An amazing live performance. The album version is ho-hum. The real deal for sure.

  • @ davidbowieswaffle: YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND!!!!! Just shut up!!!!!!!! Lou is doing great! bowie sucks, by the way..

  • Sorry to anyone who liked this but I really thought this was a load of crap, I do like lou reed and the blind boys though,so I'm thinking, why is this so shit?

  • @JoeBloggo400

I agree with you. It's not very good because this a soft, subtle song. On the original album (The Velvet Underground, 1969) it's almost whispered. Here they're just belting it out, and it loses the intrinsic melancholy and beauty of the song. Lou Reed nowadays often seems to do things like that, which are below his standards in my opinion, and I must be one of the biggest fans he's ever had

  • @kidcalabria I know man like I have transormer and it just is one the best albums ever, don't know much of his new stuff but you should check out the song he did with gorillaz called 'some kind of nature' it's awesome you prob like it

  • @ 3:56, the guy makes the same noise my SEGA Genesis made when it froze. Fuck the What!? lool

  • @Arad737 Hey I am a major fan of the Blind Boys but I gotta say...... that is a very funny comment.

  • @Arad737

Soul music fans call that squall. Kind of an empassioned rough scream. Wilson Pickett used to do it, James Brown used to do it, Joe Cocker, and sometimes guys from the Temptations did/ do it. It's pretty cool if you ask me.

But yeah it kinda sounds like a system freaking out. Or like when you tried to use dial up internet.

  • I was laughing SOO hard when I was watching this live. Oh god, these guys are so awkward and horribly torrid, they are hilarious!

  • This is fucking terrible. Lou should have died from an overdose and been remembered for how great he was instead of over the top performances with an old guy trying to prove he can still "rock".

  • @davidbowieswaffle dude to wish death on anbody is kinda rude man, your opion if you don't like it but your kinda being immature

  • What snivelling drivel compared to what the song was in 1969. Lou playing his stereotypical latter day guitar style, nothing gained, nothing lost.

  • Or maybe what he is trying to show is that with the time passed the song has a diffrent meaning and style, just saying

  • All i can say is..."What Pile Of Grap"

  • @beatestknob

    Bite Me

  • I saw this repeat the other day and FANTASTIC..

The guy in the middle is unbeliveable!!!!! And Lou Reed is one of the underrated greats...

  • @bernardshakey2

Your comment is a stunning understatement..... the "guy in the middle" is the very great Jimmy Carter-Lee, and Lou Reed is most certainly not under rated, he's recognised by anybody who knows anything about music as one of the rocks most seminal and influential figures

  • @birdstuckinchimney Keep commenting. We need a proliferation of such comments to ward off the philistines. Rock.

  • Absolutely fantastic! Two of my favourite artists together. Inspiring performance.

  • At 4:12 the band quits on them. Then they come back in and then Harry Caray yells "Hey". Listen for it.

  • Jesus. please don't let Lou Reed sing anymore.

  • car alarm at 3:58

  • @jasonjarvis1988

I COULD'NT AGREE WITH YOU MORE, LOU JUST GETS COOLER WITH AGE

  • IS THAT A REAL QUESTION?

  • Is this the first Lou Reed TV appearance where he didn't play Sweet Jane?

  • at 4 minutes into the video thatis the most amazing sound coming out of that mans mouth........blew my jaded mind.

  • seen them live, they are fully awesome - would have liked to caught Lou Reed though.

  • Good video here, good job

  • any good musician should enjoy to pick and grin with the BBoA. they are multiple grammy winners and great musicians. Jesus is Lord.

  • racist ignorant pricks, just enjoy the music, leave ur upbringing in the closest man, letterman put em on, whether he believes it or not, he still will put on talent on his show, if u don't like, don't watch it

  • saw the blind boys in brighton, england in 2008 xmas show. one of the best shows ever!!!

  • Magnifici.....Grandi Blind Boys Alabama....e uno stupendo Lou Reed in gran forma......bellissimo brano..............

  • Best voices and guitar performance 5/5

  • I been seeing Lou live in 1973 and have see the Blind Boys at least 4-5 times in the past 20 years and this song just went a bid flat for me. My first thought on the opening licks was "Dirty Boulevard"!!!!! but was disappointed with this song selection. That said it's still way better than the crap normally seen on TV.

  • Yeah siple24. The musical combination of blues, gospel, rock and some just gutsy riffs, these kids got their focus all wrong. They're just plain missing out, I feel so sorry for this techno generation, no real guts. So what if they said Jesus, it could be whatever floats your boat. They have no idea about passion, lust maybe but passion no.

  • @54Tutu I'm in my mid 50's and you remind me of Mr Stadanko.

  • @birdstuckinchimney ???? Please elucidate, why do I remind you of Mr. Stadanko?

  • Exacly Noisyland,

A lou reed/mo tucker from 1969. That is the trouble with a lot of internet users today, they are very young, and dispite the fact that they could do some pretty indepth research, with relative ease, ie. google, etc, they seem to be basically apathetic about it. Instead of flinging a knee jerk reaction to the word "jesus", they speak before they think, which can be dangerous.

  • @siple24 Jeeze dude listen to yorself...you've become everything you once despised.

  • The "jesus stuff" is a famous velvet underground song... albeit chopped up and somewhat re-examined here...

  • lou you've always been my hero, but what's with the jesus stuff?

  • I just said that!!

  • Comment removed

  • posthumanhero...asked. coming from a jewish man i always wondered myself how this song should be interpreted....

How should the words of Jesus be interpreted? They were coming from a Jewish man, too.

  • look, im bright..very bright...though, with regardes to theology, im a total idiot.....so teach me: as far as i know practicing jews don't acknowlege jesus' presence, right...or is it [how] they do?

  • I am such a Jew. I found Christ.

Then afterward, for the first time I understood the Jews of the Bible who knew God. Before I found Christ the Jews in the Bible perplexed me. For they knew God was real. To me it had been as cultural folklore, but also would have to be a lie as presented, if it were not so.

I found Christ. Now I can understand Moses, David, and all the prophets. They shared in the mystery that the world did not know, and still can not.

  • of course the jewish religion acknowleges jesus...just as a prophet, not the son of god.

  • Awesome.

  • WOW....The Blind Boys of Alabama continue to surprise me with their amazing talent. I love that they are game to participate in all genres of music. Rockin it - with Lou Reed!

  • I appreciate having this video, but all the overlays on it make it really annoying and not something I'd want to send to others.

  • @frozenchosen Yea, the banner on the bottem is a little annoying. Unfortunately, the AudioPerv version cuts off before the end, so this is the only complete version on YouTube so far.

  • @V1de0Luvr why does AP do that?

  • @frozenchosen you want free video AND no ads???

  • but these aren't even ads, it's just annoying spam that detracts from the video. if the guy who posted it wants people to go to his site, let it pop up once or twice and then disappear; to obstruct the video that he's presenting is self-defeating.

  • defeating to you...not him.

  • What I love best about Lou? He cant sing, he cant dance and aint a decent guitarist...but he f*in rocks just the same!

  • ...and I can't type (should have been "they" below...

  • The can't see, and he can't sing. Perfect!

  • Are they really blind?

  • DUH...why don't you just google them?

  • Excellent version of this Lou Reed/Velvet Underground classic! So diff fr original, but fantastic!
