  • I like this style of raka, although it's the most difficult for me. It's a more efficient and less strenuous method. It also goes better with the music I play with. It just takes time.

  • Hey people, relax, practice every day for 15 minutes . . . and breathe . . . Don't worry about speed . . . It will come from practice and relaxing.

  • Please narrate the way learn the technique and not make a show out of it. Your playing is imeccable, but I still don't get how to learn it properly. I've been doing double Kas with my left hand forever and the double "bouncing" style never appeared to me between the clouds. More input DrumDoc! And also, keep up the good work!

  • That is harder than it looks. I have been trying forever to make that happen with my fingers.

  • it is a nice technic, but I believe the turkish split finger makes its so much easier and smoother to play. This video that you have executed, i did with the turkish split finger and i can say its opens whole new possibilities. But super playing tough! I couldnt here the difference :)

  • Wow. I have been trying to figure that out for a long time.

    Very impressive.

    I need to practice.

  • It's good. Tank you.

  • another video please..... =]

  • i like it man, im trying to learn without by myself without teacher...and i agree with you, at the beginning i believed that everything was IMPOSSIBLE, but like nike says, IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING =P. week after week i got faster and faster...

by the way i still suck, but i hope one day i can perform properly and people appreciate it

  • @Lehmann108 Yes, it's just practice, practice, and practice. One warning though is that it's recommended to warmup your hands, arms, and fingers before you do it. Especially stretching enough your ring finger with which you will do the high speed ka's and don't do it fast immediately. 10-15 min of ka's at slow to medium speeds could be a good warmup for the joints and muscles. Otherwise, it will build up strain in the ligament very quickly and damage it.

  • you're still too fast !and do a better angle shot! so we can see better! thanks!!god bless! you're still the best!

  • This is cool. just what I needed Thank you.

  • This "insane" technique is very basic and EVERY Arab drummer can do it, a lot play it even faster than this. This technique is visually better (and sounds better) than split-finger. But the split-finger rolls are unmatched

  • I agree. I've been practicing the split finger technique recently too.

  • Hey there DrumDoc5, my comment wasn't a critique on you specifically, but it was intended for lehmann and his surprise over this very basic technique. I hope no offense was taken. :-) About the split-finger technique, are you learning with a teacher or over youtube videos? Upload videos of your progress, I have yet to see an Arabic style drummer execute great Turkish technique.

  • Doc, that is insane! thanks for the intructions though...off to practice now until my ka finger falls off!
