The hilarious thing is that a lot of evidence ('Pornography, Rape and Sex Crimes in Japan,' Milton Diamond) suggests these images decrease the rates of actual child abuse... but of course this is tabloid driven, it's not ACTUALLY for the children, its for votes. The Gov doesn't give a shit if it helps kids, if people THINK it helps, and gets them votes - the problem with democracy, you vote who you think helps you, and science (even social science) is often extremity counter-intuitive.
