  • Shed Tristano vibing Lee

  • Beautiful , thank you for posting.

  • @PaulMurphyJazzDrum you're welcome.

  • Love the way they play the head in a different key on the way out. Tristano's lines are genius.

  • wow, i *just* got the key change under my fingers when the 2 beat shift on the final chorus hit me! just awesome!

  • where can i track down a recording of this? huge lennie / lee fan and don't have this. thanks...

  • @ltrain0225 try Mosaic records URL.

  • Amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing...thanx

  • reply to saxejr: It's a mother to play fast like Parker or Konitz could.

  • Isn't the tune really "Back Home in Indiana," and not the Indiana "Fight Song?"

  • @pindaric Yep, you're right. Donna Lee is a contrafact of Back Home Again in Indiana.

  • @pindaric probably, someone just told me the name back in 1962. Dorance Stalvey.

  • this was an alt take, unissued untill the late 90s. the interplay between Lee and Lennie on Bird's melody (based upon the chord changes from Indiana "Fight Song"), during the very last chorus, ending the song, is astounding to me. I only just noticed this brilliance upon posting it yesterday.

  • @pvelectric yeah, the last theme is sick! just drove me crazy... they were incredible. thanks for sharing!

  • @gastonethecat thank you.
