  • very nice piece but what is the christmas connection ? he wrote in during the summer, it was first performed in a casino ...

  • Just curious...why flax seed. I mean I enjoy the food but it's such an odd picture for classical music

  • It is my favourite symphony, this is a very good interpretation, thanks for uploading!

  • I love this

  • Flaxseeds? Mozart?

Could two things be anymore random?

  • Wow... fantastic piece of music!!!

What I wouldn't give to be able to travel back in time just for one night to the summer of 1788 to hear the Mozart the genius first hand!

  • @hot5pur11 : You would probably die of some disease or on your return briung back some terrible plague which would destroy Europe !

  • @MusicPredominates... wow! what a way to shatter my illusion!

  • @MusicPredominates Are you kidding me? They were probably the hardiest people to ever live. You had to have strong genes to have made it through that many epidemics in still be in genetic existence. Today, we are a bunch of weak munchkins, by comparison.

  • @GrendelDaze : Is not a Munchkin someone associated with Munich !

  • are these period instruments?

  • 4 people dont like flaxseeds lol, coz lets face it you cant dislike Mozart

  • woooohoooooo!

  • I've heard this Symphony reffered to as the first Romantic Symphony. This and his last two are very stormy and turbulent, not as unbridled as Beethoven but certainly intensly emotional. I guess they were saying Beethoven wasn't the first in this regard. Mozart was already laying the groundwork.

  • Why the flax seeds? Are you that desperate for a picture to put up? The music is good though.

  • Mozart never fails to amaze me.

  • is this in E flat?

  • @nikihappy97 Yep.

  • I want to stare at flax seeds, but listen to Mozart at the same time! Can anybody give me any recommendations?

  • Are we supposed to prefer the flax seeds to a picture of Mozart?

  • @aufdieseweise yep.

  • Absolutely gorgeous. "Breathtaking" falls short in expression. The emotions and their interpretation is absolutely shattering, and castes new light on the way Mozart has been interpreted hitherto. I would ask all of you here to listen to Beethoven's 3rd Symphony interpreted by Roger Norrington. Thank you for posting this (elias12186)

  • 0:31 that has to be a harpsichord.

  • @Dodo251 yup, sounds like it

  • Where's the fire??

  • I didn't like this interpretation job at all.

The only emotion it elicited was disgust.

    What's with the harpsichord?

  • I was reading the Info and was suprised how Mozart had the abilitiy to compose on different Works at the same time, I remember watching a Documentary On Mozart, and it described how Mozart would have a set of little Tables around him , a Different work on each (a Sonata, a Symphony, a Concerto,a Quartet) and like a Multitasking Angel he was he would turn to different works while Working on other, no Mistakes whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @eddiemperor I heard that he would also write new operas during the rehearsals for his finished ones

  • Mmmmmmmm........flaxseeds!

  • the best version of this symphony on youtube

  • RIP Charles Mackerras. Long live Mozart.

  • I have Mackerras' version of Mozart's symphonies 1 through 30, which I adore as I like fast tempos. Quite interesting to hear him do this one!

  • This version is such a joy to listen to! It is bright, cheery, fast but not rushed. Orchestras can really muddy Mozart and ruin him. This one is the antithesis of the worst playing.

  • This is a great piece of music

  • so why flaxseeds?

  • I only trust Prague to do my Mozart :)

  • A photo of flaxseeds to look at while an orchestra plays Mozart. Discuss.

  • Both nourish the brain, perhaps?

  • @maiasaura08 I've tried to count the seeds and enjoy the music at the same time. I couldn't do it.

  • I prefer Herbert Von Karajan's version much better. That's just my opinion.

  • Wow, this is performance completely different from the Von Karajan version I'm used to.

  • haha indeed, discard that trash and switch :)

  • To be rude about music is to be rude about oneself.

  • Agreed. I love karajan to death but his mozart is not good at all. This is way more historically informed and exciting.

  • @oatboy and oats go well with flax and honey

  • @polymath7 Yep, thats true...I prefer this version.

  • Utter magnificence! Thank you so much for putting it up! :D

  • whatever the picture is in the video...to me it looks like grain.

  • what's up with grain...

    5/5

  • what grain?

  • what is the picture of?!?!?!

  • Flaxseeds

  • Nice to be first on the comments page!

  • You know it's true!
