@MusicPredominates Are you kidding me? They were probably the hardiest people to ever live. You had to have strong genes to have made it through that many epidemics in still be in genetic existence. Today, we are a bunch of weak munchkins, by comparison.
I've heard this Symphony reffered to as the first Romantic Symphony. This and his last two are very stormy and turbulent, not as unbridled as Beethoven but certainly intensly emotional. I guess they were saying Beethoven wasn't the first in this regard. Mozart was already laying the groundwork.
Absolutely gorgeous. "Breathtaking" falls short in expression. The emotions and their interpretation is absolutely shattering, and castes new light on the way Mozart has been interpreted hitherto. I would ask all of you here to listen to Beethoven's 3rd Symphony interpreted by Roger Norrington. Thank you for posting this (elias12186)

I was reading the Info and was suprised how Mozart had the abilitiy to compose on different Works at the same time, I remember watching a Documentary On Mozart, and it described how Mozart would have a set of little Tables around him , a Different work on each (a Sonata, a Symphony, a Concerto,a Quartet) and like a Multitasking Angel he was he would turn to different works while Working on other, no Mistakes whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This version is such a joy to listen to! It is bright, cheery, fast but not rushed. Orchestras can really muddy Mozart and ruin him. This one is the antithesis of the worst playing.
very nice piece but what is the christmas connection ? he wrote in during the summer, it was first performed in a casino ...

Wow... fantastic piece of music!!!
What I wouldn't give to be able to travel back in time just for one night to the summer of 1788 to hear the Mozart the genius first hand!

Why the flax seeds? Are you that desperate for a picture to put up? The music is good though.

I didn't like this interpretation job at all.
The only emotion it elicited was disgust.
What's with the harpsichord?

RIP Charles Mackerras. Long live Mozart.

I have Mackerras' version of Mozart's symphonies 1 through 30, which I adore as I like fast tempos. Quite interesting to hear him do this one!

A photo of flaxseeds to look at while an orchestra plays Mozart. Discuss.

@maiasaura08 I've tried to count the seeds and enjoy the music at the same time. I couldn't do it.

I prefer Herbert Von Karajan's version much better. That's just my opinion.

Wow, this is performance completely different from the Von Karajan version I'm used to.

To be rude about music is to be rude about oneself.
The11221212 2 years ago
Agreed. I love karajan to death but his mozart is not good at all. This is way more historically informed and exciting.
