Yes, sadly Abby is ill-advised on choice of boat for this type of thing. Too lightweight, too many electronics, reliance on electric autopilots and a carbon fibre rig that can shake out of the boat in any decent squall. Gutsy girl poorly advised. This should not detract from her achievement.
And you want to stay up 24/7 for months at a time with no chance to sleep? That's actually why the autopilots are there so she can sleep. And I think you're forgetting she's made it halfway around the world, including around Cape Horn safely without her boat falling apart.

I get the feeling that her father is more interested in a publicity stunt than the welfare of his daughter. Jessica Watson's trip was done in a much more seaman(woman) like manner. Sturdy boat, less reliance on electronics, mechanical systems, etc. Kudos to both girls!
@JimCinNH think of how many hungry people could have been fed with the money being expended on bombs, wars and military spending.
