  • This is when I realised how quickly "actresses" can transform themselves.

I knew someone at The BBC and in those "free and easy" days in London was able to see the making of this show with Liza Goddard also starring.

Kelly told a gag and Liza laughed hysterically. CUT ! and Liza changed INSTANTLY into a "frozen" unsmiling face and that continued all the way thru;!

    Fake laughs or what? lol

  • A undeservedly forgotten and brilliant comedian.

  • i remember this show when i was a kid and it was brilliant.

how come it was never repeated?

just seems like some classic shows get repeated to death and others never see the light of day ever again

  • He wasn't Canadian - he was from St Louis, Missouri

  • I remember this so well, saw it live on the tv in UK. It was from the Des O'Connor Show. Des liked to introduce new up and coming American comedians, and that night it was Kelly. This sketch has stayed with me since then, many thanks for the upload. Just FYI.

  • OH man! this brought back some great memories of back in the eighties when he had his own show. He had me in stitches back then and had an influence on my sense of humour even to this day.He just popped into my head when i was looking for some good comedy on UTUBE and to my delight kalsolarUK has this great clip, thanks for making me laugh kalsolarUK

  • There are some comedy routines that stick in your mind. I have never forgotten this since seeing this when it first went out on tv. It was a great series wish there was more of it available.

  • Yep, same here... it was a routine that stuck with me too - luckily I had my audio cassette recorder by the tv at the time. I do have some video of Kelly somewhere from his one man show. When I find it, I'll upload some of it.

  • And so the phrase taxed out the ass came to be.

  • I saw Kelly at the U of Toledo in 77'....To this day it's the only time I've ever felt sick because my stomac hurt so much from laughter.

  • I have some video of a one man show he did in the mid '80s, I'll have to see if I can find it and put a few clips on here at some point. A very likeable guy and very funny.

  • @JBTG33

Amazing I had the same experience in the late 80's. Wish he was still on the road.

  • Me likie.

  • EXCELLENT CLIP KELLY ROCKS!!!!!!

    thanks for posting this

  • you're welcome - there is sadly so little of his material viewable on the web.

  • I have just Emailed the BBC to ask them to re-run the show instead of all the crap they

    transmit.

  • Awesome clip and very funny. Thanks KalsolarUK.

Mud hut people should have had a union. :D

  • I'd never heard of this gentleman before. Now I'm going to look for more of his stuff!

    Cheers! :)

  • I can see his influence on you. :)

    Good stuff!

  • yeah, maybe there is some there from a story telling point of view.

  • I agree, same style of comedy - and same QUALITY of comedy, too. :)

    Keep it up!

  • That was great.

  • hahahha!!!

  • I've never heard of this guy before, but he's funny. Thanks for introducing me to him.

  • What WAS the army doing chasing the Israelites?

  • well, they were slaves of the pharoah - however, after much wrath from god and moses, he let them go..but changed his mind and sent the army after them.

  • Excellent, audio is fine, funny as hell.
