This is still pissing me off, I'm just remembering this is the basis for this whole damn movie. And I love Samuel L, but dubya tee eff, did they not talk to actual Marines at any point making this movie. Looking back, this movie makes no goddamn sense. An officer (Jackson) orders to "Engage hostile targets as they appear." That doesn't mean redecorating the whole fucking street in brain matter gray. It means engage HOSTILE targets. Marines=marksmanship, we would be expected to avoid civilian casualties. As it stands, the officer would be okay, and that whole platoon would get shit-canned. Also, not a single Marine was able to verify he fired on an armed combatant? WTF?
