Well to educate you team USA in 2006 started an actual national program. Before then we were just throwing random all-stars together a few weeks before competitions which sadly enough was good enough to win gold up until 2002. We had one slip up since then and have gone 36-1. Also Australia did ok in the first quarter but there are 4 quarters in a game and i recall them getting beat by over 30 when it was over. And the exhibition match was just that...one big practice...that answer your question

The reasons China topped US is because they trained their athletes to be good at this minor sports that not alot of countries are into. And they did it on purpose their goal was to get the most medals they figured they had a better shot at trying to get the ones that are less popular so they would dominate those. The only real franchise caliber player you have is Pau Gasol and now that his brother has improved maybe Marc in the future, but he still has ways to go. Our team is made up of franchise players, players who lead and know what to do in most situations. Either way Pau Gasol might not even play in Turkey. He might rest. Especially if the Lakers win the championship, which I hope they do because I'm a Lakers fan. We'll see. Good luck.

Well to educate you team USA in 2006 started an actual national program. Before then we were just throwing random all-stars together a few weeks before competitions which sadly enough was good enough to win gold up until 2002. We had one slip up since then and have gone 36-1. Also Australia did ok in the first quarter but there are 4 quarters in a game and i recall them getting beat by over 30 when it was over. And the exhibition match was just that...one big practice...that answer your question

If you think that with 1'15" left and 4 points less is not to be close... american players lost control. Thank to Kobe, the only one with ace mind, if not... It was watched on tv in the whole world. American players lost control about FIBA rules, about basket rules (defending with arms), two or three nba-players couldn't play til 30" left!! (no minutes of rubbish)... Next time, several teams won't plan the match to lose for less points, they'll do it to tray winning. And you know what happens..

You can´t believe your own comment about soccer (USA dominating). but, I don´t saying is not possible USA at the same level or more than Spain: you have got population, money,.. and the excitement of beginners. yeah i do believe we're gonna dominate. like i told Trulyloyal. look at all the olympic games the last hundred years...we are usually first in medals, never lower than second...we have the populaton but we also have many other sports..when i was a kid i played basketball, football(usa), baseball, wrestling,track,boxing n volleyball..most of that was at the local park leagues..we r serious about all sports not just one... bball is already a global sport. not as big as futbol but its gettin there

Anyway the USA have succeeded so much in team sports in this Olympic, like 4 years ago in Athens 2004 Italy was quite good in the overmentioned team sports and was the leading country .

The reasons China topped US is because they trained their athletes to be good at this minor sports that not alot of countries are into. And they did it on purpose their goal was to get the most medals they figured they had a better shot at trying to get the ones that are less popular so they would dominate those. I mean I'm not saying it's wrong but to me it means more that US got more of the Major sports as China got more of the minor sports.

The US has won 13 Gold medals, 1 silver and 2 Bonze in the 16 years we have participated in Olympics, Spain has 1, a silver. Sorry Spain, you have a long way to go to catch up to the US in Basketball, and for that matter any other sport other than soccer. In my opinion, the only mistake this Redeem Team made was to bring only a single pure 3 point shooter to the squad, in difference with Dream team who had Bird, Mullin, Magic, Stockton.. not to mention Pippen and Jordan (who shoot better than kobe or Lebron from the arc. This is why teams got so close on the Redeem team, they play zone and force them to take the 3 point.. which show everybody their weakness.
The one to blame is the person or coach to have recruited this team,not the players
