as an former 82nd Trooper, this is a sad statement of the upper body strength of this unit. And, no one goes to SF selection in half ass shape, it just doesn't happen. U clowns get a clue before posting crap.
When I was in infantry basic way back in the 90s I seem to recall doing 25 pushups and lining up to try to do 10 pullups before every meal in the DFAC. If you couldn't make it, your buddy behind you would assist you. Sometimes the tail end of the line got to skip, but the goal was to improve pullups so those going on to airborne training wouldn't be an embarrassment.
If you base a branch of the military off of how many pull ups some one can do then...well I don't even have a word for how much of a dumb ass you are so im gonna make one up. You're a fucking kufininanapa.
why do they help the woman but not the man. if she was tough enough to join she can do it herself. and no one think im talking shit im joining the military

@lolzas The Americans didn't lose the Vietnam war numbnuts, it was politics that made us pull-out after every won battle, and the Vietnamese simply took over the position after we left. The vietnamese lost 1.2 MILLION people during the Vietnam war... how many Marines died? 14 thousand! So tell me, how the FUCK is that losing? Yeah, the ninety degree bullshit, not real pull-ups. Marines you gotta go full extension. Just being a poolie I went to a USMC station at the state fair, wanting to win an awesome t-shirt. All in all, I got twenty-two in but because I did the first four only going to ninety degrees, I ended up with getting a water bottle (fifteen for water bottle, twenty for t-shirt). I'm gonna win that sombitch this year, right before I go into NROTC.
300. This includes 2 minutes of pushups, 2 minutes of situps and a 2 mile run. for an 18-21 year old male, they must do 71 pushups, 78 situps and run 2 miles in 13 minutes. Scores are based on age and gender.
My apology was in reference to what I said about Russian women to the air soft commando. I reread your comments and you were being judgmental and condescending to the Army. I expected more from someone affiliated with the service. That is why I don't bother commenting to anyone who's only experience with the military is with COD4 and movies.
You relate Russians to vodka... ok So these officers can't do what new russian army recruits can do... I'm starting to see the superiority.... Ok let's match Russian Spetsnaz to US army special forces physical strength. Russian Spetsnaz go through extremely inhumane training and well known to be the most brutal and tough training in the world... Or did you want me to compare Russian standard army to the US Special Forces or Rangers? Try Rangers compared to VDV. Special forces vs Spetsnaz. We win
That is a coed school, of course I know Russian Women are more burly and strong and hairy than American Soldiers, I admit that. As far as Russians being superior Soldiers, can you explain why 15,000 Russian Soldiers died in Afghanistan and never had more than a stalemate in 10 years? Whereas we have been there for nine, beat the Army, helped install a new government, and have the Taliban doing raids from caves and we only lost 1000? On top of that are YOU in the military?
I don't know hairy russian women. 15,000 Russians died as it was a different time, technology, and new strategies had to be applied where you compared a modern day army to a past with an adopted strategy from the Soviets with no major foreign enemy supporting Afghanistan as the US supported against the Soviets. Also Russia did all that beat the army, installed socialist government and had raids, but realized the reality of Afghanistan and we are still having problems in the Afghanistan as well.
I shouldn't have been so nasty in my response but you pissed me off. I apologize. Understand I am an Army Officer, and when a guy who's profile says he is 22, from California, and a member of a Russian Airsoft team, starts talking shit about my service branch I get a little pissed off. Your profile says you are Spetsnatz.....Spetsnatz in Southern California firing airsoft guns? Have you ever been in the real military, or are you a fan of the military?
I guess that logic proves the Vietnamese are the greatest military force? And remember that the Taliban were on our side back then, so who was Russia really fighting lol
Yeah, too bad the guy doesn't know what he's doing though.
You don't spot a pull-up by holding a person's feet because if and when their hands slip, they're taking a nose dive to the concrete. Common fuckin sense.
These guys clearly are not exhausted from pt, they are just out of shape or lack proper military bearing and discipline. Judging by their clean uniforms and the fact that none of these guys behavior connotes exhaustion or fatigue, I think it is very likely that they are bad at pull ups. I wouldn't rag on them for only doing 7 pull ups since that is supposedly the expectation, but there wasn't a single pull up that was conducted properly. If they can only do 1 pullup, so be it but do it right
I'm going into Army OCS as soon as I pass MEPS. I can hit 25-30 "proper" pull ups fairly easily, do 80 push ups and hit near 100 sit ups in less than 2 minutes. I strive for excellence, not only in myself but in those around me. Those are my standards and those I wish to impart on the army.
You shouldn't base the entire branch's standards on a video of a few individuals. After all, it's a team and we're all on the same side.
You're right LittleDragon5. I'm sure there are a lot of better people than this in the Army. I've even seen strong guys in the Air Force before, But Marine training is unarguably harder the training of the other branches. I wish that all of the Army and other U.S. branches would raise themselves to your personal standards. The problem is that most normal Americans are just weak, fat, both, or worse..hippies.
Well, that's true. Marine APFT standards are considerably higher, but then again the Marines are out in the field while a decent amount of Army people end up being desk jockeys unfortunately.
Well, if I make it through MEPS and become an officer, I'll be setting high standards for people working under me. Hopefully the Army will raise its standards eventually.
I also agree with the amount of fat / weakness in the general population and especially about the hippie part.
Disgusting the Russian Army Laughs at the US Army! Pathetic... Only ones worthy are the Marines at least they do real pull ups and go all all the way down.
oh yeah...cause maybe they are training ALL day and are extremely tired? just maybe?? hmm? just cause when you workout if you do at all maybe once a day or a few days a week you can do more thats only at one point during the day...they work their asses off all day...you sir are a dumbass...think before you say something.
at usmc ocs, we do everything 5x harder than these guys. At any given point in the day, the average candidate can do a max set of PROPER pull ups (max=20). These guys can't even get there first pull up right, and there is absolutely no discipline or peer pressure. "he is best who is trained in the severest school." I think you are making a very cursory defense of these guys. the marines do push ups right, why cant the army do pull ups right, even if they can only do 7. its just disgusting
ohhhh my bad dude. repsect bro you deserve it.i had no idea you were comparing them to the USMC i thought you were just talkin shit. But yea my bad again im goin to the marines next year, i was going to wait til college to being OCS over the summers but i decided it would be better to go through the enlisted way first. but yea that was my bad i thought you were just another one of those fags who talk shit when they are too scared to do what they do. however, you are not.
At any given point in the day, the average USMC OCS candidate is NOT expected to do a max set of dead hang pullups. Not unless the vast majority of USMC OCS candidates have 285+ PFT's, which I know is not the case, because you only require a 240+ to ship... my SSgt at the OSO told me so.
as a graduate of usmc ocs, the average candidate is expected to be able to do a max set of pull up at any given moment. For instance, we do them before and after haircuts, px runs and occasionally during humps. We even do them for fun after taps in the ladder well. Final PFT scores for my platoon averaged 280, it would have been higher but we were physically destroyed from our previous hell week. 240 is the minimum to ship, but that doesn't mean anything. Successful cands never ship below 270.
Also, I don't think you know what your talking about because you get your info from an OSO assistant that has never been to OCS. I have, so I think that makes me more qualified to speak on the matter. I don't hate the army, im just confused at how low their personal standards are considering that they are a professional force. Sadly to say, Al Qaida training videos look more intense than this. When these guys find themselves in a bad combat situation, they'll wish they had trained harder
low standards no???In the army pullups are not part of our pt test so no one trains for them .Tho i believe it should be added in.Going off a website so dont get mad.... and plz do correct me. i think marines pt run is easier than the army's,15:54 min. to pass so lets say 8 min mile. Now from what i see you guys have to run 28 min 3 mile 9 min mile.......now idk if its just me and use to running long distances but thats easier. @ crunches come on....
Im sure you can find the official minimum pass time for usmc pft run times online, though i dont know it. All the marines I know run AT LEAST 21:30 3 mile. You can't go to OCS without minimum of 22:00 by most OSO standards. At OCS, average run times are 6-7 min mile paces for 3-5 miles not including rifle/ wargear and exercise stations that may be added in plus mountainous terrain. Army pt is always easier in every category.
If your referring to 3 pullup, 50 crunch, 28 3mile "minimum", I'd say you sound like ass. The usmc pft is harder, you can't judge it by the minimums because no one actually sinks that low. unlike the other branches the marines have obnoxiously strong peer pressure, which results in higher pft scores as nobody wants to be treated like a runt. The events are harder, and most marines can naturally excel at army. If everyone in the corps only got the minimums, you'd have point, but they don't.
Also, take it from me as someone who has done both. Getting a perfect score on a marine pft is very difficult where as the army pft is not. If I can only do 20pullups, 100 crunches and a 20:00 3mile, I would have a 288 (96%), but I could easily score a perfect on the army pft in that kind of shape. I don't know any marines that sink below 250 yet many the army guys I know barely pass there own pft's. BTW, the reason I have never heard of the officially mins is b/c nobody in the corps uses them.
but still comparing minimum army is harder pt test and we have documentation to back that up. Also idk where you were in the Army but my squad was always expected to do more than the minimum....if you met the minimum or near it automatic remedial PT.
If you're a soldier, you should push yourself to the max, no matter what branch you go into.
Bare minimum is never good enough. I'm going into the Army as an officer soon and I will hold the max as a normal standard that every soldier must continuously strive to reach.
I'm in the process of trying to get into ocs and the marine recruiter said that to qualify to go into ocs is 28 minutes. A video I found on youtube of a marine officer recruiter that the minimum to graduate ocs is 24 minutes, but a perfect time would be 18 minutes.
once again these are minimums, what is more important are the averages. Once again, I went to OCS (and im shipping for seniors in fours days) and I know first hand that the majority of candidates score well above the minimums. No one in my platoon back in I co scored less than a 270 on the inventory and final pft. Minimums are not important, nobody will survive ocs if they can not run better than a 22:00 3 mile so having a 28 min minimum is senseless
Another thing is your OSO prob won't contract you if you can't score a minimum 240 PFT on your contracting and preship PFT. And god help the man that makes it to OCS and can't run a 23 min or better 3 mile.
Marines standards are admittedly higher, but it doesn't mean that every Army officer is a weakling.
I've met a few Army officers that could probably rip people in half as well as some of the best trained Marines officers. Don't underestimate individuals based on a couple people in one video.
I never said that every army officer is a weakling, i don't speak in absolute terms. unfortunately, those "few Army officers that could probably rip people in half as well as some of the best trained Marines officers" are the exception not the rule, probably from the special forces community where that kind of performance should be expected of them since marines are not special forces. That kind of ability is a testament to that individuals personal standards more than to the army.
I am a graduate of PLC Junior and PLC Senior. The "average" OCS candidate cannot do 20 pullups as that is the max for the PT test. I went through back in the day when the "kip" was authorized. This is not Army OCS, as nobody wears a beret in training status. This is probably just a unit before going to chow. There are males and females in the line so cut them some slack. The Army, USMC, Navy and AF are all busting their asses now in every corner of the globe. Quit talkin' shit.
Kipping was not allowed when I went, and the average candidate (in my plt) did 20, your experience probably differed. I assumed it was most likely some sort of school considering what the description says, but I never claimed it was in fact a school. I wasn't talking shit about anyone, read my posts, I was merely critiquing the fact that nobody cared about doing pull ups correctly. My army buddy even thought this video was a little embarrassing. I'm not calling them weak, just apathetic.
I read your posts, and for a person who admitted that they were a service member that were defamatory. As a person who was an enlisted man in the Army....graduated from Marine PLC Jr and Senior, and now is back in the Army I have a respect for all branches. I read your posts and you are talking shit...say what you want about superiority...if you are still doing your initial training, why not send up some support for your brothers and sisters who have deployed multiple times?
I think you were missing the point of my posts. I shouldn't have to state my support for the armed services, I feel it is implied considering my association with the marines. Nor should you conflate my opinion on Army training doctrine with "talkin' shit". If you read my posts and insist that I am talking shit about people in the army, then please provide examples. I I have close friends and family in the Army right now, so it is somewhat offensive to be accused of desecrating soldiers.

also, I like how you apologize to that russian guy who was clearly shit talking, yet your so callous and untactful towards me. Keep in mind, I don't care if you disagree with my posts, but I haven't said anything that is grossly untrue or defamatory. Keep in mind that critiquing arm policy and even specific soldiers is not mutually exclusive with supporting the general military as a whole- but you wouldn't know it from reading your posts.
They were always my worst event ? Pushups, situps, 2 mile runs no problem.. But pullups never seemed to get any easier.. Fortunatley in the Army they are not offically part of the PT Test.. If they had been, then I'm sure we would have done them in greater intensity..
It's definitely not infantry. Girls aren't allowed for 11-B. And besides who cares if they're having trouble now? That's the point of basic and ait is to get you in shape
I'm only 16, so I'm not positive, but aren't you supposed to go until your elbows lock, and than chin ALL the way above the bar? They should be happy their co wasn't watching, they could have gotten in trouble.

what's a perfect score for the Army's physical fitness test? and what do you have to do?
asianwannabeamerican 2 years ago
300. This includes 2 minutes of pushups, 2 minutes of situps and a 2 mile run. for an 18-21 year old male, they must do 71 pushups, 78 situps and run 2 miles in 13 minutes. Scores are based on age and gender.
rickshew 2 years ago
That is the minimum to achieve the max score of 300.
rickshew 2 years ago
2 mile run in 13 minutes.
78 situps in 2 minutes.
76 pushups in 2 minutes.

Muetter,
My apology was in reference to what I said about Russian women to the air soft commando. I reread your comments and you were being judgmental and condescending to the Army. I expected more from someone affiliated with the service. That is why I don't bother commenting to anyone who's only experience with the military is with COD4 and movies.

lol, so true. The Russians train hard, but have incredibly shitty equipment. Plus the abuse and hazing the enlisted grunts go through is horrific.

can you do the pull ups with ur fingers toward you instead of away?
HiKneeMan 2 years ago
You relate Russians to vodka... ok So these officers can't do what new russian army recruits can do... I'm starting to see the superiority.... Ok let's match Russian Spetsnaz to US army special forces physical strength. Russian Spetsnaz go through extremely inhumane training and well known to be the most brutal and tough training in the world... Or did you want me to compare Russian standard army to the US Special Forces or Rangers? Try Rangers compared to VDV. Special forces vs Spetsnaz. We win

Hey Comrade,
That is a coed school, of course I know Russian Women are more burly and strong and hairy than American Soldiers, I admit that.
Dkelsmith 2 years ago
I don't know hairy russian women. 15,000 Russians died as it was a different time, technology, and new strategies had to be applied where you compared a modern day army to a past with an adopted strategy from the Soviets with no major foreign enemy supporting Afghanistan as the US supported against the Soviets. Also Russia did all that beat the army, installed socialist government and had raids, but realized the reality of Afghanistan and we are still having problems in the Afghanistan as well.
russianteam 2 years ago
I shouldn't have been so nasty in my response but you pissed me off. I apologize. Understand I am an Army Officer, and when a guy who's profile says he is 22, from California, and a member of a Russian Airsoft team, starts talking shit about my service branch I get a little pissed off. Your profile says you are Spetsnatz.....Spetsnatz in Southern California firing airsoft guns? Have you ever been in the real military, or are you a fan of the military?

Yeah, too bad the guy doesn't know what he's doing though.
You don't spot a pull-up by holding a person's feet because if and when their hands slip, they're taking a nose dive to the concrete. Common fuckin sense.
Incompetence...
Hope I encounter better at OCS.
LittleDragon5 2 years ago
Also, these guys might have already done PT beforehand.
If a person is physically exhausted, then getting those last few pull ups in before taking a break might be very difficult.
LittleDragon5 2 years ago
These guys clearly are not exhausted from pt, they are just out of shape or lack proper military bearing and discipline. Judging by their clean uniforms and the fact that none of these guys behavior connotes exhaustion or fatigue, I think it is very likely that they are bad at pull ups. I wouldn't rag on them for only doing 7 pull ups since that is supposedly the expectation, but there wasn't a single pull up that was conducted properly. If they can only do 1 pullup, so be it but do it right
muetter 2 years ago
True, true.
Quality / Quantity. Always.
LittleDragon5 2 years ago
If this was in the Marines you would be hearing "zero, zero, zero, zero. Get the fuck off of my bar you filthy excuse for a fucking sack of shit!"
But I guess this is good for Army standards.
CaptainRuro 2 years ago
I'm going into Army OCS as soon as I pass MEPS. I can hit 25-30 "proper" pull ups fairly easily, do 80 push ups and hit near 100 sit ups in less than 2 minutes. I strive for excellence, not only in myself but in those around me. Those are my standards and those I wish to impart on the army.
You shouldn't base the entire branch's standards on a video of a few individuals. After all, it's a team and we're all on the same side.
LittleDragon5 2 years ago
You're right LittleDragon5. I'm sure there are a lot of better people than this in the Army. I've even seen strong guys in the Air Force before, But Marine training is unarguably harder the training of the other branches. I wish that all of the Army and other U.S. branches would raise themselves to your personal standards. The problem is that most normal Americans are just weak, fat, both, or worse..hippies.
CaptainRuro 2 years ago
Well, that's true. Marine APFT standards are considerably higher, but then again the Marines are out in the field while a decent amount of Army people end up being desk jockeys unfortunately.
Well, if I make it through MEPS and become an officer, I'll be setting high standards for people working under me. Hopefully the Army will raise its standards eventually.
I also agree with the amount of fat / weakness in the general population and especially about the hippie part.
LittleDragon5 2 years ago
Disgusting the Russian Army Laughs at the US Army! Pathetic... Only ones worthy are the Marines at least they do real pull ups and go all all the way down.

Dfo05 2 years ago
at usmc ocs, we do everything 5x harder than these guys. At any given point in the day, the average candidate can do a max set of PROPER pull ups (max=20). These guys can't even get there first pull up right, and there is absolutely no discipline or peer pressure. "he is best who is trained in the severest school." I think you are making a very cursory defense of these guys. the marines do push ups right, why cant the army do pull ups right, even if they can only do 7. its just disgusting
muetter 2 years ago
ohhhh my bad dude. repsect bro you deserve it.i had no idea you were comparing them to the USMC i thought you were just talkin shit. But yea my bad again im goin to the marines next year, i was going to wait til college to being OCS over the summers but i decided it would be better to go through the enlisted way first. but yea that was my bad i thought you were just another one of those fags who talk shit when they are too scared to do what they do. however, you are not.
Dfo05 2 years ago
At any given point in the day, the average USMC OCS candidate is NOT expected to do a max set of dead hang pullups. Not unless the vast majority of USMC OCS candidates have 285+ PFT's, which I know is not the case, because you only require a 240+ to ship... my SSgt at the OSO told me so.
HunterofNittis 2 years ago
as a graduate of usmc ocs, the average candidate is expected to be able to do a max set of pull up at any given moment. Successful cands never ship below 270.
muetter 2 years ago
Also, I don't think you know what your talking about because you get your info from an OSO assistant that has never been to OCS. I have, so I think that makes me more qualified to speak on the matter. I don't hate the army, im just confused at how low their personal standards are considering that they are a professional force. Sadly to say, Al Qaida training videos look more intense than this. When these guys find themselves in a bad combat situation, they'll wish they had trained harder
muetter 2 years ago
low standards no???In the army pullups are not part of our pt test so no one trains for them .Tho i believe it should be added in.Going off a website so dont get mad.... and plz do correct me. i think marines pt run is easier than the army's,15:54 min. to pass so lets say 8 min mile. Now from what i see you guys have to run 28 min 3 mile 9 min mile.......now idk if its just me and use to running long distances but thats easier. @ crunches come on....
Now if the run info is wrong plz correct :)
SNaRF66666666 2 years ago
Im sure you can find the official minimum pass time for usmc pft run times online, though i dont know it. All the marines I know run AT LEAST 21:30 3 mile. You can't go to OCS without minimum of 22:00 by most OSO standards. At OCS, average run times are 6-7 min mile paces for 3-5 miles not including rifle/ wargear and exercise stations that may be added in plus mountainous terrain. Army pt is always easier in every category.
muetter 2 years ago
i did look up the minimum and comparing both branches minimum sorry looks as if the marines PT run/crunches seem easier to me. :)
SNaRF66666666 2 years ago
If your referring to 3 pullup, 50 crunch, 28 3mile "minimum", I'd say you sound like ass. The usmc pft is harder, you can't judge it by the minimums because no one actually sinks that low. unlike the other branches the marines have obnoxiously strong peer pressure, which results in higher pft scores as nobody wants to be treated like a runt. The events are harder, and most marines can naturally excel at army. If everyone in the corps only got the minimums, you'd have point, but they don't.
muetter 2 years ago
Also, take it from me as someone who has done both. Getting a perfect score on a marine pft is very difficult where as the army pft is not. If I can only do 20pullups, 100 crunches and a 20:00 3mile, I would have a 288 (96%), but I could easily score a perfect on the army pft in that kind of shape. I don't know any marines that sink below 250 yet many the army guys I know barely pass there own pft's. BTW, the reason I have never heard of the officially mins is b/c nobody in the corps uses them.
muetter 2 years ago
Ill agree Comparing Max(marines is harder):
71 pushups to max(pull ups are harder)
78 situps vs 100 crunches say thats (same)
6.5 min mil vs 6.6(harder)
but still comparing minimum army is harder pt test and we have documentation to back that up. Also idk where you were in the Army but my squad was always expected to do more than the minimum....if you met the minimum or near it automatic remedial PT.
SNaRF66666666 2 years ago
If you're a soldier, you should push yourself to the max, no matter what branch you go into.
Bare minimum is never good enough. I'm going into the Army as an officer soon and I will hold the max as a normal standard that every soldier must continuously strive to reach.
LittleDragon5 2 years ago
did you not read where i said in my squad we never did the bare minimum? Nice attention to detail.
SNaRF66666666 2 years ago
I was actually agreeing with you. You don't have to be a prick about it.
LittleDragon5 2 years ago
I'm in the process of trying to get into ocs and the marine recruiter said that to qualify to go into ocs is 28 minutes. A video I found on youtube of a marine officer recruiter that the minimum to graduate ocs is 24 minutes, but a perfect time would be 18 minutes.

once again these are minimums, what is more important are the averages. Once again, I went to OCS (and im shipping for seniors in fours days) and I know first hand that the majority of candidates score well above the minimums. No one in my platoon back in I co scored less than a 270 on the inventory and final pft. Minimums are not important, nobody will survive ocs if they can not run better than a 22:00 3 mile so having a 28 min minimum is senseless
muetter 2 years ago
Another thing is your OSO prob won't contract you if you can't score a minimum 240 PFT on your contracting and preship PFT. And god help the man that makes it to OCS and can't run a 23 min or better 3 mile.
chip8675309 2 years ago
You are correct, 3 mile minimum is 24 min. But you should definately be able to do better than that. Sub 20 and you'll probably be ok.
vwguyaz87 2 years ago
its 24 minutes to qualify, 18 for max points man.
mikerich928 2 years ago
Marines standards are admittedly higher, but it doesn't mean that every Army officer is a weakling.
I've met a few Army officers that could probably rip people in half as well as some of the best trained Marines officers. Don't underestimate individuals based on a couple people in one video.
LittleDragon5 2 years ago
I never said that every army officer is a weakling, i don't speak in absolute terms. unfortunately, those "few Army officers that could probably rip people in half as well as some of the best trained Marines officers" are the exception not the rule, probably from the special forces community where that kind of performance should be expected of them since marines are not special forces. That kind of ability is a testament to that individuals personal standards more than to the army.
muetter 2 years ago
muetter,
I am a graduate of PLC Junior and PLC Senior.
Dkelsmith 2 years ago
Kipping was not allowed when I went, and the average candidate (in my plt) did 20, your experience probably differed. I assumed it was most likely some sort of school considering what the description says, but I never claimed it was in fact a school. I wasn't talking shit about anyone, read my posts, I was merely critiquing the fact that nobody cared about doing pull ups correctly. My army buddy even thought this video was a little embarrassing. I'm not calling them weak, just apathetic.
muetter 2 years ago
I read your posts, and for a person who admitted that they were a service member that were defamatory. As a person who was an enlisted man in the Army....graduated from Marine PLC Jr and Senior, and now is back in the Army I have a respect for all branches. I read your posts and you are talking shit...say what you want about superiority...if you are still doing your initial training, why not send up some support for your brothers and sisters who have deployed multiple times?
Dkelsmith 2 years ago
I think you were missing the point of my posts. I shouldn't have to state my support for the armed services, I feel it is implied considering my association with the marines. Nor should you conflate my opinion on Army training doctrine with "talkin' shit". If you read my posts and insist that I am talking shit about people in the army, then please provide examples. I I have close friends and family in the Army right now, so it is somewhat offensive to be accused of desecrating soldiers.
