Great work!! Ideas: Would it be possible to have a tighter spring and smaller hit stick? A side mounted ball drop might be safer and alleviate your "taller than the dog" chute. Maybe even help with bouncing out the back problems. Ability to lower or raise the exit height would be nice. An insert of some sort put into the flat exit chute. Even more challenge would be to give the "tosser" a RANDOM exit height; is the next ball going to be a pop fly ball, a grounder or something between?
i really like this design. its pretty efficient. maybe if you put some sort of ramp at the end so that it launched the ball in the air a little more. but its something that could be marketed
A friend of mine suggested the same thing. I think I'll experiment with that. I guess I could "market" this thing, but mostly, I just enjoy inventing things like this and building them.
@dinomaui im very much the same. i have like a ton of things in my basement that im working on. i could just make a living on doing random things all the time. i love it
If you put some weight in the end of that launcher arm I bet it would help launch that ball a little farther. Maby some lead fishing weights?

what is that black thing attached to the motor and shaft?
TwistXFX 10 months ago
@TwistXFX It is what once held a coil of cable that raised and lowered the window.
dinomaui 10 months ago
@dinomaui Ah. Do you know what that part is called?
TwistXFX 10 months ago
@TwistXFX The cable pulley I guess. It came with the motor. It's not a part that you can buy separately and bolt onto another motor.

My neighbor routinely gives my dogs treats over the fence. They love him. :)

@HamRadio2008
The regulator is the mechanical part that the motor moves to lower and raise the window.

It can be a bit difficult to train a dog to drop something in a hopper that is higher up than he/she is tall. btw that's a beautiful blue heeler.

@douro20 I have a solution to that problem that I'm going to try....
