  • Hello, excuses my English , I did a translation. Do I ask , these bases of colors that are like a pasta (the one that tape-worms of purple, yellow blue color etc) as them do, or where sell them? To create these rainbows I wait for your response salutes from venezuela:-)

  • for a second i thought this was cheek blush

  • poor paint ç_ç

  • I'm confused. What exactly is a rainbow cake?! Someone heeelp >___>

  • @iluvidunno It's something we use in face painting. We take different colors of face paint, slice them up, and then put them back together to make a cake with all different colors in it. That way, when we slide the sponge along the cake we get all the different colors on the sponge. It makes doing colorful face paintings very easy. Hope that helped!

  • What's it called again? And where is it usually sold?

  • How is that a cake

  • if you wanted to add 4 diff colores then why dont you just cut it into 4ths like 4 corner triangles?

  • @spaztwit100 The cake has to be in stripes or you can't load the sponge or brush properly :) Thanks for the idea, though!

  • You know, I'm not really sure what this is.

  • thanks alot this is usefull. do metallic colours work for rainbow cakes?

  • and where to buy

  • Maybe You Should Measure It Out Before Cutting ?

  • @vikijoops Yeah, that definitely would have been smarter than just hacking away at it :)

  • I have bought some good rainbow cakes which are 50g, from a website, called dauphines, they are brilliant, they ship out on the same day and you should get your orders the next day. It's great. The quality of the paints are brilliant and they arent' even that expensive, they also sell diamond fx paints. So check it out, hope I was of help. I would love to make my own rainbow cakes but I'm still a bit afraid to! Hahaha! Definitely in the future though. <3 xx

  • where do you get your paint

  • did you get the paint online

  • Can You Do That With Snazzarroo paint

    the little ones

  • @iMammaDolly I've never tried, but you should go ahead and give it a try with a few colors :)

  • @iMammaDolly i tried it with Snazzarroo left overs today, and i thought it was very annoying to make, but it turned out fine

  • hi, first of alli love yore video's!!! there great!! little question, did anyone tried it with the egg slicer?? i don't think the slicer is as sharp as a knife?

  • @dutchlunatic1 That's a great idea! The cakes might be too hard for it to work, but it's definitely worth a try!

  • hey watt store did u get ur paint?

  • Where can one even buy DFX paints? I cant find distributors of the 10g.

  • 1. Where did you get the containers for them?

    2. Is it really less expensive overall doing it this way?

  • @emalinnea91 I just used the containers that the paints came in. It's a bit less expensive (around $2 to $3 less per cake), but the real advantage is being able to choose exactly what color combos you like. fazmataz dot com sells individual10g cakes (for rainbow cakes you want 32g cakes),

  • how

  • is rainbow cake a brand??

  • Idk if a rainbow cake really saves you. On Sillyfarm a big rainbow cake goes for 15/16 (then $5 shipping) the rainbow cake has 6 colors. (Each color separately costing 4.50) that times 6 is 27...??

  • I have found an adress on the internet. They have a wide range of beautifull Rainbow Cakes. ww.schminkwebshop.nl

  • Cool

  • They sell TAG at the facepaintingforum shop...anyway loved your video! (i love all your videos!)

  • Off topic from the video but do you remember what nail polish you're wearing and the color name?

  • @MissRuthless Yes! It's Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Commander in Chic :)

  • @lisajoyyoung Thanks I'm going to buy it asap! lol

  • would it be easier if you remove the whole peice of cake in one big circle and cut it with an egg slicer? that would give even peices or you could stack them and slice them all at once to make even slices too

  • @TheShanizle Great idea! I'll have to do it that way next time! :)

  • @TheShanizle Great Idea!

  • Thanks Lisa, your demos are easy to understand, making life so much easier for us learning the trade....

  • I guess what I don't understand is why you would want to make rainbow cakes. I know they are makeup, but what is the point of separating them and piecing them back together like that?

  • @CochroachKappa it's for fast application of specific face art. You may have a row of kids to paint, so it's nice to be able to just use one container per face. Plus you can carry less with you. But if time and ease of travel aren't issues then regular cakes would do : ) I'm using face paint on my film so carrying less makeup containers for touch ups is desirable. The time cut from original application is not a bad deal either ^-^

  • Where do u buy the single cakes? Love ur vids btw

  • Love all your videos....... great tips, ideas and useful knowledge :) has anyone tried TAG paints??? They are fabulous...very along the line of DFX, great consistancy and lasting. I ran out of TAG white and black and as i needed it quickly I just bought Snaz. Dont like it at all, seems very chalky consistancy and gluggy compared to TAG, am just using the white as a base now and the black for dotting.

  • @ellyse1997 Yeah, Snaz is no good. They're definitely my LEAST favorite face paints. They don't sell TAG in the U.S, so I've never tried it, but I've heard really great things about it!

  • You can buy TAG online. Search their website for resellers to get the one closest to you.

  • Hey Lisa. Thank you for the video, I appreciate it. I was thinking to make the cutting more accurate you can make a stencil-like marker for the three, four, or five color rainbow cakes. I'm gonna try that.

  • Hey Lisa, thank you for this video. I was thinking that an idea to cut them more accurate could be to make a stencil-like marder for the three, four, or five color rainbow cakes. I'm gonna try that. Thank you once again!

  • But i dont get it....its not cakes....

  • @lizfizstrawbs They're rainbow face painting cakes (when the face paints are solid they're called cakes).

  • I know I'm probably going to sound stupid but... What kind of cake is this? Haha, I was looking up Rainbow cakes and cupcakes

  • @asianbarbiejudie Ha ha! No problem! It's a cake made of face paints (we use it in face paint to apply blended bases)

  • @lisajoyyoung Haha, thanks :0)

  • @lisajoyyoung Haha, updated title :P

  • @asianbarbiejudie Haha, updated title :P

  • IF YOU TAKE OUT THE HOLE CAKE .THEN CUT THE PIECES TO FIT BY PUTTING THEM ON TOP OF EACH OTHER TO MEASURE A PERRRFECK FIT

  • What do u need to make the rainbow cakes? Ingredients

  • Yay!!!

Love your nails! It looks like Metro Chic from Sephora!

You did such a good job! I'm so glad you did this video. I would have gotten Wolfe instead of the DFX. Boy, would I be in trouble then:oP

  • awsome! i just made my own rainbow cake 3 days ago, after adding up how much it was going to cost me to order it and all the shipping and well since i already had the colors i needed i decided to make it and i'm so happy i did, thanks for your wonderful videos Lisa i love them they are so helpful :)

  • @1979fabulous I'm glad you enjoy the videos and I'm so happy your rainbow cake turned out well. Hopefully yours looks better than mine do, lol!

  • Some tips... some paint consistency is super mushy... pop it in the freezer for 20 mins or so. It also helps with the crumblies too. And, I like to work on a cookie sheet so it's easier to clean up.

  • @baxification Thank you so much for the great tips! I wasn't sure if I was going to post this, ummm, "tutorial," as I clearly had no idea what I was doing, but I'm so glad I did. I love how many helpful comments I've been receiving for the next time I give this a try :)

  • I don't make all the coloures into a rainbow cake, I save an empty pot and just make one :-) you then have a ready made well in each left over cake. A friend shaves some off the top of each cake so the stay intact.

  • When I make mine I mark out the strips with a ruler (just roughly) along the middle of the cake then cut them from there.

  • @1976Kristen Good idea! I'll definitely do that next time instead of just hacking away at them :)

  • with the choice of white and black? Snazaroo white is not too bad but the black is terrible. And I would like to have really perfect black for outlining because it´s very important. And because the paints are quite expensive I can´t buy white and blue of each of these 3 brands, so could you recommend something? Thank you very much!!

  • @Hantsja For white and black you MUST get Wolfe. Black and white Wolfe/DFX are really amazing

  • thank you for the video!!! it´s very helpful!! As I wrote before I have been using Snazaroo but I am not satisfied with this brand so I would like to order some new paints from Sillyfarm, I already have their rainbow and arty cakes but now i would like to buy some ordinary colours, unfortunately they don´t provide DFX paints. Which paints would you recommend from these brands - Wolfe Brothers, Paradise and Kryolan...? I would like to try a few colours of each of this brands but could you help me

  • @Hantsja I've never really used Kryolan, so I can't really say much about that, but, if I had to choose between Wolfe and Paradise, I would choose Wolfe. Wolfe colors are super intense, which means that they're great for line work and they last a long time since they're so pigmented and you don't have to use much of the product to get a great result. The only drawback is that they can be hard to blend when using them as bases. They dry really fast, so you have to work with them just as fast

  • @lisajoyyoung Thank you very much for your advice!!! I´ll try Wolfe paints (white, black and other dark colours suitable for outlining) and only a few pieces of Paradise and I´ll use my old Snazaroos for bases and so on....Thank you and keep doing your videos!!!Your scorpion video was amazing!! I haven´t try it yet but it looks quite easy, fast and really great!

  • @Hantsja If you are an experienced painter, then you should have no problem blending the Wolfe colors. However, Paradise has a creamier consistency and blends much more easily on the skin. Because of this, it's a great choice for beginners. Although, the creamy consistency also means that it gets used up more quickly. Buying Paradise for bases and then a few Wolfe colors (like black, white, metallic purple...) for line work is a great option.

  • im confused @ 1:00 was that just a fumble of words? i think you ment to say the other kind would just crumble! right?

  • @lovecanbemagic Yes! Thank you for pointing that out. Wolfe Bros would crumble, not DFX.

  • That is a helpful video! I just ordered $200 worth of DFX paints. i ordered 4 of the rainbow cakes. they were 12.99 each. and after my order was paid for and shipped i saw that i accidentally ordered 2 of the light blues!!! aahh! But now i will save it for a rainbow cake that i can make on my own. Is it ok to make the rainbow cakes with paint that is not new? because i would think it would be a good idea to use paints that are running out rather than buy new ones to make the rainbow cakes.

  • @danapacella You can probably do it, but it's going to be a lot harder than what you see me do here. The paint hardens with use, so it won't be as pliable. Also, since the paint is used, you won't be able to cut out straight lines. You'll have to try to make straight lines by molding the used paint. Might as well try it though! It's a good idea for uses of used paint, and it certainly doesn't hurt to try :)
