this was the 1st motown record i bought at the age of 13 yrs old .... i suppose this was the start , after that i bought every motown release , the music got me to the palace in rhyl at 15 yrs old .... i first heard northern there , patti swallow on the decks ... my first all niter was major lance at the torch .... couldn't get a lift to the drifters who i really wanted to see ... from there on it was every soul club i could find ... my fave was Mr. M's ... ktf ... C A L ...
One of only a handful of Northern instrumentals that sends shivers down my spine! Pure magic that I never get tired of listening to. Many thanks for the upload!
takes me back to 1970 waiting for the 11 0 clock train on kidsgrove station . to manchester for the wheel some one had a discatron player they put this track on the lads and girls where dancing on the platform . o what great memories
god bless EarL Van Dyke, one of the funk brothers, took the Motown system of putting the music together to his grave, like he said he would. We will never hear the like again!
a guy at work in the seventies said...JOHN..why are you listening to the charts..ive got some singles ...take them home..tell me what you think..HE WENT TO THE GOLDEN TORCH...did me a tape...I NEVER LOOKED BACK..lovin this ...now i have loads of northern..guess what...i don t play the chart stuff...RESPECT ..
Ah Winstanley n Searling. Woah, that takes me back! Last time I danced to sounds spun by Searling was in Burnley Miners Club in . . . I don't know for sure, but it wasn't yesterday!
