It should be a requirement for players to take off the helmet before they scrap. If not, the refs should tack on an extra 2 minutes and if the player fights with a visor, an extra 4.

So you're suggesting that guys get tacked an extra two minutes for...I wanna call it unsportsmanlike conduct if they don't lose the helmets before they get into it? I like that idea, but I've seen some fights in which they don't really have time to get rid of the helmets before they start throwing. So it'd be tough to gauge.

Still, that doesn't mean it's not a good idea to consider.

Here's the way I look at it. Hockey fights these days are pretty lame. Once in awhile, you get a good tilt. Most of the time, the players are just hugging and trying to get eachothers helmets off. No one wants to punch a hard helmet. Well, the fans don't want to watch it either. The guys should have some control, take off the lid, and go at it. I am always holding my breath when a guy like Iggy fights. If he broke his hand on the guys helmet, my Flames would be screwed for the season!
