(I saw them in Liverpool in 84) The mayflower was a great venue or possibly the only venue that would put on such stuff.
@PunkyTom1962 Tom I love the name of your band. You didn't end up doing any vinyl?

I was told these guys had to change their name to Anti-Pasti because they couldn't call themselves Anti-Paki.I'm skeptical to say the least, but it could be true
Don't say faggot, don't say punx... The language we speak is the one we have taught the system ... We can fight against him as much as you want, there will always be a subsite within us.
And with less than 500 letters, it's proven that humans are holding themselves back by having a system where profit is the incentive and human achievement/progress conflicts with profit. but back to the point, anarchy isn't the solution. Anarchy means that the biggest investor in a security firm, whether its private within the Anarchist boundary(blackwater, RUF) or a foreign nation's security firm(military), will take over these peaceful anarchists by force and take control of the resources.
@Kasevam In anarchy, people would wise up and get rid of all the guns. Hey, we got the information how things work, spread the information around the world, and remember, we don't need no leaders. We are fucking adults, not some kids to be boss around! It all starts when people realize there we are on the same boat, but egoistical capitalist world view keeps our minds and doors closed.
@Kasevam Alot of guns and alot of training hold no ground against an organized airforce with neutron bombs. Yeah, governments throughout humanity have been fucked up, but anarchy is an irrational solution. Look at African countries with weak governments, the result is that groups with alot of guns form together and take over land for the resources for their specific group's benefit. Look at the RUF.
@truthseek18 then maybe all governements should get rid of their nukes!!! is kinda sickening that gevernments would rather spend their money on bombs that can destroy the world 10 times over than to do things like transport surplus food to starving countries. instead the US government pays farmers to destroy part of their harvest so that they can ensure that prices for food dot drop too low. God forbid starving countries would be able to afford our grain and corn!!!
@ForgottenRebel77 I'm with you 100%. In addition, there's monetary incentive to prevent scientific progress in many fields. With geo-thermal or fusion power production, unlimited electricity from abundant resources, you can desalinate ocean water, and power UV producing lightbulbs, allowing for hydroponic production of as much food as the world needs. But geo-thermal and fusion would put oil/petro out of business, and shit's more valuable when there's less fo it. Scarcity produces valu in cptlsm
@truthseek18 well im not worried too much about water, it never really goes anywhere, it always makes its way back into the ecosystem somehow. But the oil industry is not about to give up its hold on the energy market. And with whats going on in Lybia right now we may be paying $5-$6 a gallon soon. Its unfortunate that people only see green when people suffer. Both physically and monetarily.
and another thing, you take the originating qualities of punk like not being able to play that well and expressing frustration and anger as the be all end all of punk rock, honestly it's a fucking culture it's not just one thing or another. christ you're so fucking narrow-minded.
also i'd like to note that anyone with their head so far up their ass as to think that they can sheepishly just divide all these bands into punk or not punk is a fucking moron. honestly i don't really give a fuck what's punk and what isn't but you can't say the germs weren't punk because "they were just a music sidenote", what the fuck does that even mean?
i don't think a band 'ceases to be punk' when they learn how to play their instruments. that's absolutely retarded, look at Bad Brains, they used to be a jazz band and then became a hardcore band.
idk why the general sentiment of this song and ones like it dont hit more of a nerve in america right now fucking " no corporate elitists + no govt" i want to hear that cover
But if you live in America and this song "speaks" to you, shut the fuck up! How the fuck does this help the people stuck in North Carolina, Utah, or anywhere else in America?
I'm borderline offended here but I have to agree; the political problems of 1970s England have nothing to do with ours Stateside. The sheer hopelessness of massive unemployment under Thatcher punctuated by the garbage strike helped incubate punk.
I've often wondered why California produces so many 'punk' bands. What the hell do you have to be angry about when you live in one of the sunniest places on earth?
With a few exceptions, I've always referred Brit-punk, Discharge and the Exploited.
That's absurd, like saying that World Wars 1 and 2 were exactly the same and to disregard the 21 years separating the two. You're trying to rewrite history here.
@moparmonster1965 Do you even know when California's first punk bands started emerging? 1977. Right in the midst of punk evolving all over then world, look up the bands The Weirdos, The Germs, and a little band you might've heard of The fuckin' Dead Kennedy's!
And thus we now have a clear break between what we consider punk.
Yeah, I've heard of the Dead Kennedys and they formed in June of 1978, four years after the Ramones began playing hard and fast. The Weirdos formed in 1976 as an art rock project, not punk. And The Germs were just a musical sidenote.
I didn't say that they weren't influential; I said that they didn't have anything to do with the core formation of punk because, like it or not, all punk bands can trace their DNA directly to the Ramones and Malcolm McLaren's reinterpretation thereof.
Further, I think it's better to first define what's not punk: Green Gay, Blank 182, and Husker Du, for example. Songs about jerking off, farts, and general stupidity are not punk.
@moparmonster1965 I agree with what you said about The Ramones and Malcolm McLaren, cannot be denied. Don't completely agree with saying that Green Day, Blink 182, and bands like the are not punk. I'd say they're more a coruption of punk, the music sounds ok but the spirit is in the wrong place, if you know what I mean. All I was really pointing out was that just because the weather is nice in Cali doesn't mean we have nothing to be pissed about.
You never hear anyone say that the guitarist of such-and-such band is the Jimi Hendrix of punk rock, do you? No, because being punk isn't about playing well, but rather about expressing the angst and frustration of your social and political situation. Unfortunately, that's a narrow path and is the reason that the first wave of punk was so short lived.
Husker Du, however, is another matter. and leads me to the next point: once a band learns to play its instruments well and how to competantly construct a song, they cease to be punk. The Clash is another good example, having started out as punk and turning into something else later.
Okay, so we're more-or-less on the same page there. Good. Those two awful shit bands are so far from punk that Sid Vicious is spinning in his grave, them being mentioned in the same sentence as punk. They're parodies, cartoons, and have no idea what punk is at its core.
@moparmonster1965 Another little fact for you is in 2008 and 2009 the California state government was so bankrupt they gave IOU's instead of tax return checks.
My home state, Pennsylvania, is in much the same situation. They built this ridiculous bridge that goes over nothing but rural housing some 10 years ago and just got around to connecting it to the main highway system. That's but one example of their wasteful ways.
The state is largely bankrupt now and I wonder how much the Bud Dwyer situation is directly responsible...
@wishiwuzazagthoth i have a feeling that if the world would end it be cuz of a fucking nuclear war or something caused by the government. im 100% sure on that one. PUNKS NOT DEAD!
@bluntpunk83 Nah man, I didn't mean 'fag' as a derogatory term for homosexual, I said 'fag' because... well because he was being a fag. Like, if a gay guy were to make a douchey comment, I'd say, "Stop being a fag and go suck that penis." I have absolutely no problem with gay people man.
@dylanXdisaster oohh ok gottit ill remember to call my homie a nigger cos hes bein lame. i can call people a nigger and its ok cos im not a racist. right. carefull cos some big ass biker bear may not agree
@dylanXdisaster shut the fuck up dumb shit people can say what ever the hell they feel like punxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunxpunx
Brew yer own ... it's about to ferment? What kind of mad Brewer would even attempt to ferment Margaret Thatcher? A more stinky, fish-like Vile tasting Beer i couldnt Imagine!
I think the message of this music might be a little above your station?
Then again, the Dutch are traditionally pretty chilled out - perhaps punk really is about the fashion over there and not the do-it-yourself/political idealism that fuels much of the scene.
/watch?v=88QLxLHQW_M << The History Of Punk Rock on the Lower East Side, 1950 - 1975
1st of all, "punker" is just a stupid qute little synonym that MTV (spacificly) made for kids they liked to think of as "punk", f.y.i.
But really, what really makes you a punk is the way you are, your personality, your defiance, and the way you stay true to yourself and what you personally strive for. Anybody can listen to it or dress it but the music and especially the look and the lyrics are meaningless without heart and individuality. Rebellion in general is meaningless without it.
@nargarothfreak your wrong bro punk was a idea created in the states by bands such as magazine and the ramones oh yea patty smith too malcol maclaren borrowed sorry
@nargarothfreak this came out in the early 80s and i didn't get it right away but there were was a tune called blind faith that just epitomizes the punk in the early 80s make no mistake about in the early 80s punk was as big as any metal you just had to listen to right radio station. and must kids didn't know either. it was a weird time with alot of bullshit information.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
how could the law prevent people from killing each other while their concious does not? the law is probably the thing i take least seriously when breaking that law does not harm anyone else but me.
Tbh, sounds like your typical anarchist who shops in a hot topic store, but I'd love to just knock down the whole house of commons and rebuild it with the people leading the way. Of course we can't destroy currency, even in the caveman era we had shit like trading meat for fire probabally etc etc. But I'm not sitting around waiting for Nick griffin or some other slimey fuck to eventually come into power. Or at least let us get someone that is ACTUALLY for the people, by the people type of guy.
@Thrashslashedmashedp Nah, when we were cavemen we didn't barter. There would have been no way we could have survived and spread as quickly as we did if we weren't acting collectively in a big way. There's archaeological evidence and it also generally conforms with contemporary hunter-gatherer behaviour.
@Thrashslashedmashedp For the people? What the fuck does that even mean? Everyone is for themselves, which is why everyone should run their own life. Sure it won't work out neatly but if you think there is anyone out there that really gives a fuck about "the people" you are very naive. Believe me there is not one single person in the billions of people alive that cares about representing someone else's interests.
@Ril74 People are scared to trust others mate. And trust me, there are people that help others, some prefer payment in return. Hardly naive. So if you were put in charge of the country, you'd lead it by yourself. Pretty sure I've read about someone similar in a book of mine somewhere....
@Thrashslashedmashedp So you want to knock down the house of commons then rebuild it? With new people leading it? How is that anarchy? lol My biggest issue with anarchy is that it can never last. People naturally form tribes and clans. These tribes will fight one an another till one is in control and form their own Government. I dont want a leader who was put in control just because they were a stronger brute. Anarchy is a good idea, but its not practical.
@CreepTheaters At no point did I say I myself believed in it, I said what I was going to say in the post sounded like something blunt. And it could last I guess, it's not about burning flags and burning down buildings, personally I wish some failure occured in which we had to start over so it could be set right. But anarchism a lot of things thrown into the one name. Watch Noam Chomsky "Anarchy 101" then his 5 part interview, it makes a lot of sense and is practical within reasons.
@Thrashslashedmashedp ok word! I like a lot of ideas that come from anarchy but in full i just could never agree. Im a huge libertarian but not all the way into anarchy. Ya anarchy is not about mass chaos n burning down stuff. Its about unity n having true freedom from oppression. Yes in anarchy you can do what ever you want there may not be any kind of law but im sure u do something fucked up some1s going to put u in line or even kill ya. overall it wouldnt last hunmans lust control and greed.
When I as young I agreed with this Idea. But now? It would mean no healthcare,no schools and would most likely end up like Somalia. A Social Democracy with strong regulations on the free market and corporate influence, and that offers public healthcare and a free education system is the only way that the common people will be properly served.
Thats why revolutionary Anarchism would fail, it has to be done through education and much patience, a few hundred years worth. You have to start some where though and why not with punk? Its a fun way to start, and all relevant movements start on the fringe, 'we' just have to stop it being assimilated into the mainstream, oops, I slipped up on some butter and now its too late.lol
True but you're assuming that the FEW GOOD MEN (as they wud most likely be) at the top will remain good!!! It's a colossal assumption given the historical reality in other Social Democracies. The Elite (left/right -wing) will never properly serve the common people(sic.)
Never said there is such a thing as a perfect system, just some that are more humane than others. Human beings are imperfect,so are our ways of governance.
CDH - no one mentioned perfect anything. But the current systems have failed- again left and right. It's time to try new things. Human nature requires individual freedom...or are there some who prefer incarceration??? I doubt it! But freedom cannot exist when oppressive governance does!
The human race needs to evolve as a whole. Think of the people you see on the street or on the news. How reseptive do you think people are to new things? Me sure no problem, but it is not something that is posable right now because the majority of people are ignorant and greedy,Im not saying you shouldnt fight for what you belive in and have ideals, but you need to be a realist. A lot of people need to be deprogramed. In the meantime Ill take Gov. run social programs over corporate monopolys.
everything would be better if this government wasnt full of corupt closeted perverted rich douchebags who only care to fill their pockets with cash...they don't give a fuck about what is best for us as a whole. they all want the american people to suck their chodes.

I'd say they're more a coruption of punk, the music sounds ok but the spirit is in the wrong place, if you know what I mean. All I was really pointing out was that just because the weather is nice in Cali doesn't mean we have nothing to be pissed about.
TheDarthjared 1 year ago
You never hear anyone say that the guitarist of such-and-such band is the Jimi Hendrix of punk rock, do you? No, because being punk isn't about playing well, but rather about expressing the angst and frustration of your social and political situation. Unfortunately, that's a narrow path and is the reason that the first wave of punk was so short lived.
moparmonster1965 1 year ago
Husker Du, however, is another matter. and leads me to the next point: once a band learns to play its instruments well and how to competantly construct a song, they cease to be punk. The Clash is another good example, having started out as punk and turning into something else later.
moparmonster1965 1 year ago
Okay, so we're more-or-less on the same page there. Good. Those two awful shit bands are so far from punk that Sid Vicious is spinning in his grave, them being mentioned in the same sentence as punk. They're parodies, cartoons, and have no idea what punk is at its core.
moparmonster1965 1 year ago
@moparmonster1965 Another little fact for you is in 2008 and 2009 the California state government was so bankrupt they gave IOU's instead of tax return checks.
TheDarthjared 1 year ago
My home state, Pennsylvania, is in much the same situation. They built this ridiculous bridge that goes over nothing but rural housing some 10 years ago and just got around to connecting it to the main highway system. That's but one example of their wasteful ways.
The state is largely bankrupt now and I wonder how much the Bud Dwyer situation is directly responsible...

I think the message of this music might be a little above your station?
Then again, the Dutch are traditionally pretty chilled out - perhaps punk really is about the fashion over there and not the do-it-yourself/political idealism that fuels much of the scene.

Thrashslashedmashedp 2 years ago 9
Well said
SOHASDEAD 2 years ago
@Thrashslashedmashedp Nah, when we were cavemen we didn't barter. There would have been no way we could have survived and spread as quickly as we did if we weren't acting collectively in a big way. There's archaeological evidence and it also generally conforms with contemporary hunter-gatherer behaviour.
jkavanagh 1 year ago
@Thrashslashedmashedp For the people? What the fuck does that even mean? Everyone is for themselves, which is why everyone should run their own life. Sure it won't work out neatly but if you think there is anyone out there that really gives a fuck about "the people" you are very naive. Believe me there is not one single person in the billions of people alive that cares about representing someone else's interests.
Ril74 1 year ago
@Ril74 People are scared to trust others mate. And trust me, there are people that help others, some prefer payment in return. Hardly naive. So if you were put in charge of the country, you'd lead it by yourself. Pretty sure I've read about someone similar in a book of mine somewhere....
Thrashslashedmashedp 1 year ago
@Thrashslashedmashedp So you want to knock down the house of commons then rebuild it? With new people leading it? How is that anarchy? lol My biggest issue with anarchy is that it can never last. People naturally form tribes and clans. These tribes will fight one an another till one is in control and form their own Government. I dont want a leader who was put in control just because they were a stronger brute. Anarchy is a good idea, but its not practical.
CreepTheaters 1 year ago
@CreepTheaters At no point did I say I myself believed in it, I said what I was going to say in the post sounded like something blunt. And it could last I guess, it's not about burning flags and burning down buildings, personally I wish some failure occured in which we had to start over so it could be set right. But anarchism a lot of things thrown into the one name. Watch Noam Chomsky "Anarchy 101" then his 5 part interview, it makes a lot of sense and is practical within reasons.
Thrashslashedmashedp 1 year ago

CDHIgnorance 2 years ago
Thats why revolutionary Anarchism would fail, it has to be done through education and much patience, a few hundred years worth. You have to start some where though and why not with punk? Its a fun way to start, and all relevant movements start on the fringe, 'we' just have to stop it being assimilated into the mainstream, oops, I slipped up on some butter and now its too late.lol
dortyhoor 2 years ago 3
You don't regulate the free market strongly that's against the principle
LarsSeprest 2 years ago
If there is to be a market at all it needs to be regulated. The word free in free market is my mistake.
CDHIgnorance 2 years ago
lol that's a big mistake to make. but yeah, the energy and inspiration behind the song are good. but the message is a little, eh.
joseph21394 2 years ago
True but you're assuming that the FEW GOOD MEN (as they wud most likely be) at the top will remain good!!! It's a colossal assumption given the historical reality in other Social Democracies. The Elite (left/right -wing) will never properly serve the common people(sic.)
ryamnesty 2 years ago 2
Never said there is such a thing as a perfect system, just some that are more humane than others. Human beings are imperfect,so are our ways of governance.
CDHIgnorance 2 years ago 27
CDH - no one mentioned perfect anything. But the current systems have failed- again left and right. It's time to try new things. Human nature requires individual freedom...or are there some who prefer incarceration??? I doubt it! But freedom cannot exist when oppressive governance does!
ryamnesty 2 years ago 4
The human race needs to evolve as a whole. Think of the people you see on the street or on the news. How reseptive do you think people are to new things? Me sure no problem, but it is not something that is posable right now because the majority of people are ignorant and greedy,Im not saying you shouldnt fight for what you belive in and have ideals, but you need to be a realist. A lot of people need to be deprogramed. In the meantime Ill take Gov. run social programs over corporate monopolys.
