Dont get me wrong, Zalbag is kinda cool. But when he told Algus to " Go on " so he could shoot and kill Tera that was it for me. Delita > Zalbag as a party member anyday.

Zalbag is awesome, i love that one hit KO he got on that guy who was trying to kidnap alma. by far one of the best charecters and i like the part when he eavesdrops on loffery and dycedarg. he fgured out what happened.. but it was too late.

He's definitely my favorite character in the game, and while the battle with Dycedarg and Zombie-Zalbag was pretty climactic in the story I hated having to do it to see him die. The scene where he's at Balbanes's grave with Ramza's Theme playing is sad to when he realizes what Dycedarg did. I'm replaying the game right now and just killed Dycedarg and not looking forward to fighting Zalbag...

I got really excited when you had to save him while fighting Dycedarg. I was like "THIS IS IT!!!! THE MOMENT HE JOINS MY TROUPE!!!! I'M SO HAPPY!!! HES SO COOL!!! LOOK HE HAS SHORT CHARGE ON HIS MAIN JOB!!!!" . . . and then I won the battle and he was teleported far far away. . . I never cried so hard =(

i actually liked the whole beoulve family (dycedarg included) ramza, zalbag and alma were my favourites because they showed they didnt really care about their heiritage and thats including zalbag

As much of a dick move as that was, I think Zalbag WAS a good guy at heart. His views of justice and honor weren't necessarily the name as Ramza's, but I think he genuinely did what he thought was best.

Zalbag may have been the most complicated "tool" in the game. He is at a constant tug of war with his brother Dycedarg, who he trusts implicitly until he sees Larg murdered at his hands. For all we know, Zalbag was working on Dycedarg's orders to kill Teta if necessary to extinguish the Death Corps. Unlike Ramza, Zalbag is not a traitor to his class, and more importantly, as a career soldier he seemed to be more bound to duty as opposed to doing what was right.

Also Zalbag was a fatnastic character, truly one of the stereotypical redeemed good guys who didn't deserve to die.

hi, UPRC. I liked Zalbag, too, and wanted to 'holy water' his corpse instead of turning it (I know I'm not the only one to try).

Still, I still say Zalbag screwed up too by abandoning Teta to prove a point to commoners about how little the Meager (and the Meager's plots) meant to the nobility.  No wonder commoners made Delita into their King Arthur.

But yes, I agree with you, Zalbag was a fantastic character. Did he go to hell, or was he redeemed?

@AnoukaKC When his brother Dycedarge turned into Adrammelk, he sent Zalbag to hell, When you battle him, Vormav summoned his partially conscious body from hell to kill Ramza. Ramza calls out to him and Zalbag realizes he is fighting his brother and tells Ramza to kill him before it is too late since he barely has control over his body. Ramza in the end kills his brother and blames Volmarv for this. This has to be the saddest part of the game.

I liked Zalbag, but he's obviously a bit of an arsehole. He presents himself as rather moral, but he was the one who had Algus kill Teta.

Nice song, by the way. Doesn't really have much to do with Zalbag though, it tends to play whenever Ramza converses with a friend.

@LordZast He did NOT tell Algus to kill Teta. He told Algus to shoot the guy HOLDING Teta. Algus' 'misfire' was of his own doing.

I'm pretty sure he gives Algus a command, but doesn't state who he's supposed to shoot. When Algus shoots Teta, Zalbag doesn't repremand him or say anything else. That says to me that he either discussed it with Algus beforehand, or at least doesn't mind him killing Teta.

@LordZast Zalbag was the consumate soldier. He basically did everything that was loyal and fair, not necessarily just.. You couldn't hate him for that at all. It really just made him the perfect opposite of Delita more than anything. I was just shaking my head when Ramza comes to talk to him and is like "can't you see what's going on, how could you be this blind?" It's the only way he knew how to be. Poor bastard.
