  • great stuff, thanks for sharing this. Although it's all pretty straight forward, its good to have a method to go with. Thank you :)

  • ok, the wall is very impressive, but is it not rather self explanatory on how to make one...

  • You working reeeally fast ! HAHAHA .

  • Q: How much blutak do you use on each photo? it is like a small bit on each corner...

  • what did you use to level them i couldnt make it out?

  • ur a nerd

  • Wow! I was thinking of doing this with wallpaper on a different wall, does anybody think that would look ok? Like one wall like this and one with wallpaper, the others plain? :)

  • Great! Imma take all my pictures with a disposable camera now.

  • what if you want to use photos that're portrait and landscape?

  • @purplejellysocks You are screwed

  • @SteU4IA I did it and it worked. ha.

  • @purplejellysocks So what did you exactly do? I actually have photos hanging right now but i separated the portrait ones from the landscape.

  • @SteU4IA I did one line landscape and one line portrait and just kept going with that.

  • its so awesome. i really2 like it. its worth it right? lol

  • How long did it take?

  • hey cool video i did the same thing but easier i used poster boards to mount the pictures on and the mounted the boards on the wall which makes it soo much more portable

  • Hi.GREAT VIDEO!I also take lots of photos. Good or not that's another thing.I can take 200 photos in one afternoon!! :) I loved your wall! Can you do another one mixing vertical and horizontal photos? That's my intention.I saw some examples but I don't want something chaotic.Thats also why i loved yours. Ah can you make it covering different parts of the wall so we can have an idea what is best. Covering it all or pieces.Sorry,I know that it is lots of work but these are just ideas for next video

  • Did you take all of those pictures?

  • Yep, every single one - there are about 400 now :)

  • mine still isn't finished, its a work in progress. and im doing mine on a slanted wall.

  • wow thats awsome I would love to do this to my room tooooo!

    tnx fro sharing

  • did you laminate them? as in, with the extra laminator pouch thingy?

  • the photowall is cool!

  • YAY Photo-wall ^_^

  • How much blu tack did it take to do your wall?

  • About a pack.

  • Cool thanks....Did you just use a little dab on each corner?? I am so excited I am just getting ready to print my photos!

  • two dabs, one on each side. Not as good as four dabs, but when you're putting up 300 pictures, you appreciate that 2 days means only applying 600 pieces instead of 1200

  • Sorry to keep asking more questions but I do want to get it right....do you put the tack on the top two corners? Also, do you think blu tack will hold cds onto the wall? I am also doing a cd wall.

  • you could use these things called glue dots. they work better than blu tack but it is more difficult to get the photos or w.e down after. but it doesnt damage the photo.

  • wow that's crazy

  • good job man tht must of toke somw work u did aa good job. tottaly doin this for my room

  • I really want to do this, but I don't know which wall to choose. I have vaulted ceilings and I think it would look weird to stop at a random line up the wall, but keeping everything level with a sloped ceiling is going to be a bear.

Is it safe to put these anywhere close to a heater? how much space should I leave?

  • I would rarther watch paint dry

  • what do u have to pay for?

  • printer ink; paper; glue or whatever you use to put it on the wall.

  • wow this is awesome =]

Do you put blutack in every corner of each picture? and how much do you use in total?

  • wouldnt the sticky tack/blu tack leave greasy stains?

  • Tip for anyone doing this, do use Bluetack and not anything cheap like white tack. Part of my wall has white tack instead and it just slips and melts down the side of the wall and its horrible so don't use that..yeah =]

  • wow, this has inspired me to make my own :)

  • The stuff that you used to attach them to the wall, is that like double sided tape?

  • No, it's a tacky reusable adhesive called blutac :)

  • hey jerry :)

was just wondering if you have a separate wall for vertical pictures or if you just incorporate them anyway into that photowall as well.

  • No, I simply only choose landscape format pictures, or crop down images if possible.

  • Jerry, did you laminate your pictures first to keep them from getting damaged? I know you said in a commment that you use a dye-sublimation printer, but what does that mean, and is that what made the pictures so shiny???

  • I did something simalar to that one my ceiling just i used pictures from magazines

I arranged them into sheets and laminated them

    Then i moved

Lamination made it SOOOOO much easier

    And it looks nicer :)

  • Yes, the printer I use also lays a lamination layer on top of the dye layers.

  • i've got some pix from my last day at school but theyre a4 size - would i be able to make a photo wall with them as well as the normal size ones or would it look odd?

  • I wanta photo wall! myabe ill use my wardrobe because well its just huge and all you see is the wood of it!

  • you use "inches" in england?!?!?!

  • lol - um, yes.

  • but it's england... =O Now i'm super confused..

  • Um... we use imperial measurements here as well as metric.. how else do you think we measure height?

  • well don't you measure weight in kilograms?

  • Cos?

    were allowed?

We get taught Cm at school but inches are sometimes easyer

  • Yup. The British are backward too! Not just the Americans.

(I'm allowed to say that, because I'm over half English myself.)

    Metric! It's the future!

  • Where did it go? *sad*

  • I take it back. It's back now and I am glad. :)

  • ahhh to much math. Love the wall

  • pretty cool!

  • your thumbs look red!! ouch!

  • id love to do that!

i dont have that many photos tho :[

  • take more!!

  • did you take each photo?

  • I had a photo wall once

though I didnt have so many

and they wernt all lined up like that

  • why have i never thought to do that with all my photographs???, trouble is i need to get them all the same size, manual and digital prints are different sizes all the time gah!! but i am going to try it =]

  • I think I am in love with you...assuming you are the same as youtube you... I love youtube you!! :)

  • Woohoo! Finally, I own the same shirt that Jerry does!

  • i wish i had the patience to do that :/

  • 1. I want a photo wall.

    2. I love your glasses.

    2a. I love your voice.

    2b. I love you.

    3. You're awesome?

  • look how many people loved your comment

  • That's amazing! I'd like to try this one day!

  • I'm going to start one,

I'm looking in the argos catalogue for a photo printer!

    xD

  • ahhH! Just saw this vid! I'm totally going to do it!! maybe. lol.

  • I would't even know this existed if it weren't for youtube.

  • a re you going to do a slow pan vid, so we can see some detail?

    Nice job

  • awesome sauce.

  • A-ma-zing!!!

  • Damn, Jerry, the one we've all been waiting for.

  • Cool! You inspired me to make my own photo wall. It makes me happy!

  • Brilliant Jerry. You've inspired me to create my own wall and, more importantly, to start using my camera again. You and Kai are my biggest inspirations this week.

One question, doesn't the sticky tack give up and let the photos fall off the wall after a while?

  • Awesome. Still haven't decided if I'm going to do one. It'll be a lot smaller if I do though- I don't have very much wall-space available.

  • As I am watching, I am producing photographs for my own photo wall, thanks Jerry!

    ben.

  • That is so cool. 5 Stars

  • I love your photo wall. I'm very into taking pictures. Lately I've been taking pictures of college campuses I've been visiting.

  • The wall is back! huzzah!

    -mk

  • How did you pick where to put each picture?

  • *does happy dance* ~the photos on the wall are up. lalala!

  • It's great looking at the new picture wall! That's something I could do with our British phone kiosk, fill it full of pictures.

  • Sounds like an awesome idea :)

  • If I had enough pictures, I would totally want to do this instead of painting.

  • Awesome, dare I ask how long it took you to put it all together?

  • That was really cool! I love the idea. I think when I move and have a good wall, I may do this. We'll see! :)

  • The wall is amazing!!!!! there are so much more pics!!

  • I am definitely making one. +]

    Thanks for the help!!

  • Wow! I Really Want To Make One Now!

Thanks For Making This Cause I Would Of Probably Not Measured It And It Would Go All Wrong! How Long Did This Take?

  • Total time? About 5 hours (including printing)

  • The New Wall looks fantastic! YouTube should FEATURE this video for Howto & Style!! Great job and I'm looking forward to seeing your vlogs with the newer bigger wall.

  • My thoughts exactly ;)

  • oh wow. thats proper amazing. think i might try it myself. thanks!

  • yay! the photo wall is back up! Jerry, I love that you are willing to spend all of that time to make something so awesome and beautiful.

  • yay the wall is back up! :D did the move go ok?

lol your method is far more organised than mine XD

  • and obviously yay because your back too ;)

    hehe

  • Wow. I'm favoriting this video. Congrats!!

  • This has seriously gotten me thinking on making a photo wall. Nice job jerry good thing you made a video documenting it all other wise i would be sitting here heartbroken

  • wow, thats pretty cool.

    I Love your photos.

  • I'm going to try this when I figure out which wall I want to use. :)

  • I noticed that you have the oneawesomefanboy picture in there! :D

  • oh yes, I made that a long time ago :)

  • damn I needed this video like 2 days ago! i constructed my own photo wall and it was chaos!

I should have measured like you!

  • So, do you use a level to make sure that they are aligned or do you judge most of them by eye?

  • I did it all by eye - but you need to use a known level surface (door frames are best, because they're almost always level) as a guide for your first row, then line them all up against that one :)

  • i really want to make a photo wall now, but a] i have no printed pictures, and b] i have no square walls to use.

    NUUUUUUUUUU

  • *all ideas for comments went out window--all I got is "OH! OH! THAT SONG WAS ON THE 'TEN THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU' SOUNDTRACK!"*

  • hahaha - oh yes, plus it's Semisonic, who are on UMG, so I can use it without breaking copyright - HAZAHH

  • haha i agree! thats where i know it from! great movie! haha

  • Too. Many. Numbers.

I feel like I should go make a photo wall now.

  • That was awesome!

  • Those fast forward places were so awesome!! :)

  • Simple enough, but man printing out all those pictures must KILL your ink

  • haha - no, I use a dye-sublimation printer, that uses dye films and that comes in packs of paper and ink, so you always know how many prints you'll get :)

  • that is really freakin' awesome! And I mean obviously the quality is still awesome on the prints..... I.. I'll definitely have to go look into those :D

  • Ok, i think i understand most of it

    That wall is so cool!
