I only took one women's studies class and the Professor was TERRIBLE! although I had a TA and she was pretty cool. everything else I learned from searching and reading on my own.
I did a paper on feminism in my english 101 class because I was interested and was just learning about feminism then.. which then catapulted me into wanting to learn more. I took my first women's studies class and now am in 3 and just declared my second major as Women's and Gender Studies :)
Fuck yeah Gender and Women's studies! I am a transmale feminist just finishing my undergrad in GWS and Sociology and my dream job would to be just that-- a full time transmale feminist/activist. Ha. Grad school here I come. . .
I took a Women's Studies course my first semester of college by chance, really, not knowing anything about it other than it satisfied a gen.ed. elective. It opened my eyes and changed my life and it soon became my minor (we don' t have a WS major at my school). If it weren't for that class, I would probably never haven really known what feminism is. I wish our class was a required course instead of an elective so that more young men could understand how much patriarchy sucks for all of us!
ps womens studies is my minor n I love all my classes. the first book i ever read was full frontal feminism-which is probably one of the first things that made me fall in love with feminism-thanks Jessica!
Wow, Monty has grown up fast. Is he still humping pillows?

I think UCSC has a pretty stellar women's studies faculty and all the women there just kinda kick ass in the faculty.
