I live next to a high school that has been dubbed as "Coke-ridge" because there are so many drug deals that happen there. I know that these are supposed to be shocking, but i think that they should show what really happens to people on meth and other drugs (brain damage, how hard rehab is, etc).
Thanks for the videos. I'm a rural mother with a 26 year old son who was almost lost to meth. I wish I had known about it but I'd never heard of it before.
Man ! I am a 34 year old poly-drug user, I've done them all, cocaine, heroine, LSD, Ecstasy, MDMA, you name it, there's a big chance I tried it. But meth ? No no no no no noooooo thanks, fuck that shit, I know people I can't even approach because of that shit, one hit for week of nervous breakdown and a bad depression ? Not worth it. I like those drugs that you use to party ! go to bed, have breakfast and feel like shit the first few hours of the day.
i can't believe there are people out there who have a problem with these ads, who are actually posting comments saying that it isn't as bad as they're making it out to be. no, it truly is. i live in a small town where i see methheads every single day. they're sick and dirty and worst of all, most of the high school parties out here involve meth. anything that can convince a kid that meth is disgusting is a-ok with me.
You have to be one dumb muthfucka to get hooked on meth...honestly. As if life isn't complicated enough, how the fuck is a meth addiction going to help?
This is probably one of the most effective Meth ads I've seen - out of the "MethProject". Tony Kaye needs to start directing films again; it's been a long time since "American History X".
Never do methh! It kills u, and the ppl tht mean the most! Nooo matter if u need it or not. Ur good or badd. U can find something else, that wont kill u, inside out.!
This is HOLLYWOOD PROPAEGANDA you morons. They are selling you bullshit. You know who also use meth? Successful people; straight A students who use it to study all night so they get into Stanford and Havard. Most responsible people will use meth and do fine, and some do not and should stop. This is an unrealistic horror story attempt, CSI style, pretending you will eat your friends face if you try it. Don't believe the lies, try some yourself, then judge to know the TRUTH
i know several people who have done meth "just once" but we (me and their other friends) basically gave them so much shit that they would never do it again, as far as i know. its kind of funny how people have this negative connotation associated with peer pressure when its nearly impossible to resist. i think its just a matter of chance if people will be coerced into or out of something like this.
Ich vermisse den Link der zu Linken Parteiwebsite führt. Im Ernst jeder der Linken der das unterstützt ist ein extremist und sollte eingesperrt werden.
Propaganda bull shit! This only applies to weak minded obama supporters that believe in shit like global warming. Of course NO ONE has ever done this for ALCOHOL!!!!
@mrrheades Plenty of people killed rival dealers to get maximum illegal booze profits during the early prohibition of it. And the buyers sure as hell prostituted themselves for it, as well as stole, betrayed, etc etc.
wait wait wait...why does the little sister do it after seeing it fuck up the big sister so much? wouldn't watching meth ruin your sister cause the opposite effect?
Per the Rural Meth Awareness Project's statistics, >12.3% of Americans 12 and over have used meth "even once." So, you think that 12% of Americans have stolen money for drugs, prostituted themselves or their loved ones, assaulted their own parents, performed a B&E, slept in a squat, or any of the other supposedly inevitable melodramatic fates in these ads, "even once"? Studies prove it: you lie to kids about the consequences of drugs, and all you do is encourage them to think they're harmless.
@wheelofmasks, saying that everyone who tries meth has "stolen money for drugs, prostituted themselves or their loved ones, assaulted their own parents, performed a B&E, [or] slept in a squat" would be a lie, and a dangerous generalization. We use use a wide range of independent and government statistics to measure our efficacy, and the Rural Meth statistic is within the range of the CDC's and SAMHSA's. We do fully intend to send the message that trying Meth can lead to dire consequences.
@MethProject Congratualions, your videos scared the hell out of my brother and I. We will never try Meth now. Ever. Thanks for raising awareness with the blunt truth.
@MethProject But how about just sending the message that meth is just not a worthwhile activity? Instead of this sleazy fear mongering, exploiting the fact that our media environment has no sense of context, and merely operates on manipulative emotional generlization, why not do something truly progressive, like provide real context? Why not show a middle aged person who is bored and empty and has worked their whole life to go home and get fucked up, and never developed any personal interests?
@NodrogTrax Because unfortunately the majority of people, specifically teenagers like myself, have become so emotionally-hardened that only these gut-wrenching ads would work. Simply telling a story isn't going to do much either by default of the TL;DR effect, or the fact that we abide by the "Sucks for him, that won't be me, just once" idea.
Getting a sickening, yet horrifyingly true visual of the beginning and after effects of meth use is the best way to "scare someone straight" so to speak.
@sirbighi You act as though drug psas such as this one are some promising, innovative new concept. These have been around for decades and they've consistently proven to be extremely ineffective.
@sirbighi Yeah, you apparently did not read what I wrote. The best these campaigns can ever do is desensitize and make a joke of the subject. Sorry, but the majority of people in teens and early adulthood now are so jaded they find this farcical.
That you think the way to deal with a perceptive deterioration is to exploit it tells me a great deal about your seriousness. If a starving person only ate mud for weeks, would you give them more mud because that is what they were accustomed to?
@NodrogTrax I don't quite understand you mud phrase. Perhaps you should dumb it down for me (and believe me I'm not being sarcastic about the dumbing down thing at all)...
Either way you slice it, most people don't really care about the extremes or statistics till it happens to them. We can either show the most potentially horrible outcomes or dry statistics. Neither seem effective apparently, though the potentials can definitely hit soft spots much easier than the "boring life" versions.
@MethProject Well, if you use the governments stats.... They have been more than forthcoming with the truth about marijuana after all haven't they? You know what leads to dire consequences? Black Markets. How many B&E's are pulled to buy a bottle of Brandy?
@wheelofmasks thats all? try working in a correctional facility or hospital. those stats are actually fairly low. if you do not see the wide spread issues than you either live on an island alone or under a rock..
@wheelofmasks I have watched almost all of my friends become victims to drugs, Meth actually. I have watched them change and steal cars and sleep in the street and steal money. So stop trying to be a smart ass because your not. You probably just look on google for "facts" about Meth and troll on these videos to feel smart. You are very rude and guess what they only had to try it once. And BAM they were hooked they still are too.
@katcullensparrow7 There's plenty of people who have tried meth and not had anything go wrong. I've seen more people succumb to obesity and alcoholism. Yet.... Meth is a Schedule II drug that is prescribed pretty often while marijuana, LSD and mescaline are all Schedule I drugs. Does the government REALLY give a fuck? Just let people do their meth, I give less than a fuck if some idiot ends up a hopeless junkie.
@cyanide444 Yea well I have watched some of my best friends have that happen to them I dont give a fuck about what you think and I was not even talking to you so BACK OFF.
@katcullensparrow7 When you comment on public domain, you comment to the public. Have you even done meth before? If you have, you'll know that there's no part of it that gets you addicted. It's usually the comedown that entices people to do more and more. People with self control can overcome the shitty feeling. That's why only people with this self control should ever do hard drugs -- or any drugs including caffeine and alcohol for the matter.
@cyanide444 Actually I have done it before thank you very much and yes it is highly addicting you are a complete idiot if you think it is not. Have you ever done it? Obviously not, and dont try to lie and say you did. The comedown is part of the reason why people do it again right away but no. It is like smoking, there is this urge in your body and you NEED to do it again. and when you don't you freak out and your body goes through withdrawls.
@katcullensparrow7 You're describing dependence. I'm talking about reinforcement. The need to repeat the act. Dependence doesn't come after the first use. I know people who have done meth, I've never seen a single person get addicted to meth the first try. I know people who get addicted to cigarettes the first time, but not meth.
@katcullensparrow7 Anyways, my point is that it's addictive to people who can't handle the comedown and the craving (which is an actual biochemical mechanism involving dopamine receptor downregulation). Just because some people can't tolerate these effects (and eventually they succumb to addiction) doesn't warrant demonization and propaganda. And again, meth and speed is still a prescribed drug for a multitude of conditions....
@cyanide444 I think I would know more than you in this subject because I have studied it, done it, and watched my friends lives melt away into this drug. How dare you insult me with these obnoxious comments like you know everything? You don't know shit all! You don't know what it is like to watch your best friend become a meth head. Meth is addictive if you don't believe me and want to stick to your so called "facts" why don't you go ahead and fucking try it and find out.
@katcullensparrow7 I'd love to do meth! It's very expensive around here these days and the cartel meth doesn't match up to home-cooked recrystallized ice. Furthermore, it's not my drug of choice. I prefer heroin or opium. It's addictive in a small percentage of cases, obviously more so than other drugs, but it does not deserve to be demonized on the premise that it would discourage further use (that's how stupid people get into drugs).
@katcullensparrow7 Already got some, so no worries. My head's bein' fixed with a cocktail of psychiatric medication. Except that's OK, because my genius psychiatrist knows everything he's doing right?
@katcullensparrow7 No, I'm full of red blood cells suspended in a saline solution pumped around my body every few minutes. I am a human being capable of making my own decision, be it suicide or drug use. It's not up to others to do that for me.
@katcullensparrow7 So Google is only used by retarded people by your logic. Rhetoric is an art and a science. You can't really "Google" things like that. Although you could surely look into some textbooks and dig into the intricacies of speech/debate.
@katcullensparrow7 You said "I bet you looked that up on google lmao", I asked if that was a compliment by maintaining that I was completely original. The campaign is very inspiring, but are these like... real stories? Or loosely based on anecdotes?
I do meth ever so occasionally and so do my friends and family and I have yet to encounter any negative occurence.
I personally think that the "Not even once" is a bit disturbing too. In my opinion, everyone should be obliged to experiment with one's mind.
Those who have issues with drugs should be given help. Those who use them should be left alone.
