I only approved SouthernGent's comment (and he's not exactly a gentleman, I see) - so you could see the ignorance that is out here... There is no lying about the seniors, etc. Just because you are a homophobe (BTW, the biggest "homophobes" are usually just the folks still in the closet) doesn't mean I'm lying. You see - I am what's called "progressive" by some, "thoughtful" by others. Do you want to be discriminated against? I don't, and neither should gays.
I don't understand the idea that gay marriage diminishes marriage. I've been married for 35 years to my best friend, lover, and wife. It's been the greatest joy of my life and I want everyone to have that opportunity. I live in Canada, where gay marriage is perfectly legal, sand I assure you that gay marriage has not cost me a thing. Gay marriage has not diminished my marriage one bit. I hope many, many gay people experience the stability and refuge and joy that marriage has brought to my life.
I'm extremely happy for you. I wish the US, in all of its bloviating about being the best country in the world, would understand that repression, in any form, is not what our forefathers imagined. Whether it is slavery, suffrage or gay marriage, civil rights are civil rights and should be treated as such - not to be taken away by a "moral" majority. They will be the ones who go to hell, not the folks who love their friends, family and significant others without prejudice.
