  • toughsong to play eh just such trippy riffs in it i find, good job thou man

  • I can never get the solo down, and I doubt that guy who said it's not hard even plays the guitar. Mike Campbell is the most underrated guitarist ever

  • @ch3rrysunbur5t I'd be interested to see your version. You should post it when you finish it.

  • I like it a lot, especially that ending solo

  • FAKE.

  • @WhatProductionsGames That is the funniest comment I've gotten in awhile. I guess maybe I should be flattered. Thanks!

  • @philadendron man, the sound its very good to be real, so perfect to hear

  • @WhatProductionsGames ...Just stick to the video games and let the real guitar players rock......fake=LMAO

  • dude you're sick! :P... how long did you take learning this song?

  • Nailed it!!! 5 stars :]

    legend!

  • idk why people are hating on this. but it's really good.

  • To thegenral07, I know what you mean. I was workin on the solo to the waiting and I thought it sounded good but it just isn't like mikes. He must be a magic man. I can NEVER get his sound. By the way good job to the video. Sounds good.

  • dang dude! you sound like the real guitarist!!

  • can you put up a tutorial on the "oh yeah, all right" part? or just any part.

  • the chords are the barred versions of G7, A7, and D7

  • did you just buy the guitar looks like a tag

  • Very nice dude! Great cover!! Keep it up!!

  • Good job dude one of the few covers on youtube that comes close to the right rhythm

  • bravo

  • does anyone have a tab or any idea of what mike campbell plays on the live version to finish the song? i have some idea but i can never get it to sound like mikes lol

  • Lo quieres hacer tan bien que se te va la mano............PRACTICA!!!

  • saca la etiqueta de la guitarraaa.....

  • great job!!

    were'd u get the tab??

been trying to play this song forever

  • awesome, great job

  • Nice job! Very lyrical presentation. I liked the price tag, too bad you didn't keep it on. Novel idea. You have nice tone, a great ear and thanks for sharing. Keep playing.

  • That solo at the end is a bitch for me dood lol

  • I kinda faked it. I'm pretty sure it's much faster triplets, instead of what I played.

  • Oh hell ya it is lmao

My hand cramps when I get into it.

I play like half of it and I end up grabbing my hand cuz it hurts ha XD

  • ....amazing....

  • Nice job - cool guitar sound - ya' still 'av thee ole' taggah on it...

  • i love the bridge <3

  • i can dig it. those 50th An. strats are beautiful!

  • hah you walk around when you play

i do that with guitar hero

  • haha i can't stay still when i'm playing either

  • guitar still has a tag on it?

  • Haha, yeah. I'm weird like that. I took it off not long after that.

  • The best cover of lead guitar ever

  • I subscribed to because of this video!

    Please make more!

  • great!

  • Excellent

  • you wouldnt happen to have a tab for that would you

  • No, sorry. I usually learn from tabs, but I just sounded this one out. That's probably why what I'm playing here is a combination of the lead and rhythm parts.

  • a great sounding guitar.

    you played it well.

    5 stars.

  • I did some research: that 50th Anniversary American Stratocaster cost nearly $6,000!

  • Haha, I wish I owned a guitar that expensive. It's not the Custom Shop version, which costs 3 grand more. The Custom Shop version has nicer pickups and a is custom-aged.

The difference between mine and a Standard American strat is that mine has the replica 1959 pickups, plus a custom insignia on the back of the guitar. Mine only costs about 1200.

  • I almost got this song down for my band's cover version but I can't get those damn arpeggios right. I don't normally play like that but this song really made me want to learn how! :) Great video dude, that was spot on.

  • I love the way you play...perfectly!

    Sick Strat

  • that was amazing...love the sound of your fender

  • That was an awesome cover! Played so nicely!

    You're cute too. :)

  • perfect!

  • good stuff good stuff do walls free fallin and others next time man!

  • Nice! Not just your average youtube music vid...

  • where'd you get the music

  • ripped the song off of the CD

  • what about the tabs/ sheet music?

  • Hmm...I've been playing it for years every now and then. I think I just figured it out. The only part I looked up was the chorus progression. I just googled american girl tab.

  • lol dude that was cool cause u played the lead guitar for that song so while i was watching this i played the rythm for the song(what petty plays) we sounded pretty good lol

  • It's a great two-guitar song that sounds great on Strats. You should post your version.

  • That was a great cover. Tom Petty is just the best Musician alive.

  • You've nailed this one Phil, great tone again!

  • Thanks, in hindsight I think I mixed the volume of my playing a little bit too high in comparison to that of the song. You live and learn.
