Uh...Michael Myers was actually the first. Halloween was first released in 1978, whereas the first Friday the thirteenth was released in 1980. And Friday the Thirteenth two was the first one to portray Jason as the main villain of the series, and that wasn't released until 1981. Though I do have to admit Jason was pretty much the most BA slasher villian.

With the obvious exception of the jackass ending, I loved the movie. I felt that with Jason, there was no choice as to whether or not a remake should have been made. It was great to see him back and not in New York, or in Space. I am a huge fan of the early Jason films before Part 5 when he wasn't a slow zombie in a mask. He was a fucked up, misunderstood victim, and with this reboot, they did that and added to his character. It's not ground-breaking, but it's just a good solid horror movie.
Friday the 13th is one of the greates dates in the history of good against evil.

First of all, since when is Jason a kidnapper? He kills with reckless abandon. Secondly, in the beginning after he killed the guy that was caught in the bear trap, didn't he lunge at "Whitney" with the machete the same way? There is no way he should've been able to stop his momentum mid-kill and decide "oh, she looks like my mother, I think I'll abduct her"

I liked it. They didn´t try to re-invent Jason. This was pure slashing on a 80´s horror movie level. Teens, Jason and blood. They took it old school, which was fine. Much better than Rob Zombie´s "Halloween" remakes, which totally screwed things up.

Jason looked to human in this movie. It could of easily gone as a serial killer with a hockey mask as opposed to a Friday the 13th. What I don't like is the fact that the producers seemed so satisfied in using stupid characters and naked girls and slapped the Friday the 13th brand on that. In this time with movies like Saw, Hostel, Inside that push the envelope in torture, nothing was done to better the franchise. Bring back Kane Hodder and get a producer who would love to see the film do great
I never really understood why people were so bothered by Jason running in this movie. In the early Friday the 13th's (Part 2,3,4), Jason ran all the time! In Part 2, he's running all over the place. When he runs, it makes him more human, and that's what makes Jason scary is when he's real, he's breathing. He's not an indestructable zombie killer in a mask. That's not scary. What's scary, is the thought of a fucked up dude living on a lake who kills all who shall dare to tresspass. Jason is back!

I found it kinda annoying how Jason was fast in the sense of he is ages behind you then in front of you. For example, the black guy is getting away so Jason runs to the axe makes sense but how he got back to the house so fast wasn't that annoying but just a little. He would've had enough time to make it to the house if he ran to it after he threw the axe, but being on the roof and not making any noise was a little annoying. Looked cool though and this is a movie remember

This was scary, gory, thrilling...but the ending was sooooo stupid, how could he have been still alive? His brain was being shredded and she plunged the biggest knife on the planet into his chest.....it made no sense....its physically impossible.

With the obvious exception of the jackass ending, I loved the movie. I felt that with Jason, there was no choice as to whether or not a remake should have been made. It was great to see him back and not in New York, or in Space. I am a huge fan of the early Jason films before Part 5 when he wasn't a slow zombie in a mask. He was a fucked up, misunderstood victim, and with this reboot, they did that and added to his character. It's not ground-breaking, but it's just a good solid horror movie.

First of all, since when is Jason a kidnapper? He kills with reckless abandon. Secondly, in the beginning after he killed the guy that was caught in the bear trap, didn't he lunge at "Whitney" with the machete the same way? There is no way he should've been able to stop his momentum mid-kill and decide "oh, she looks like my mother, I think I'll abduct her"

I liked this movie!! Huge Horror Film Fan here so I was very concerned they could ruin the franchise!! I liked it esp at the beginning with the chick in the sleeping bag being BBQed hahahaa.. The one CON would be it could have been alil more creepy... As in make ya jump more from not expecting things. Its predictable but all and all decent movie & ofcourse its in my dvd collection!!

I liked it. They didn´t try to re-invent Jason. This was pure slashing on a 80´s horror movie level. Teens, Jason and blood. They took it old school, which was fine. Much better than Rob Zombie´s "Halloween" remakes, which totally screwed things up.

I was going to go see this movie in theatres with my boyfriend but there was a line going out the front door so we decided to go bowling, im glad we didnt see it bcuz when i first watced this on DVD i realized it was the first movie i saw where almost every girl died naked praticaly...horror movies arent JUST about sex! i know sex plays i big aspect but come on, enough is enough...but this was kinda scary despite all of the other things...FRIDAY THE 13TH!

Jason looked to human in this movie. It could of easily gone as a serial killer with a hockey mask as opposed to a Friday the 13th. What I don't like is the fact that the producers seemed so satisfied in using stupid characters and naked girls and slapped the Friday the 13th brand on that. In this time with movies like Saw, Hostel, Inside that push the envelope in torture, nothing was done to better the franchise. Bring back Kane Hodder and get a producer who would love to see the film do great

I never really understood why people were so bothered by Jason running in this movie. In the early Friday the 13th's (Part 2,3,4), Jason ran all the time! In Part 2, he's running all over the place. When he runs, it makes him more human, and that's what makes Jason scary is when he's real, he's breathing. He's not an indestructable zombie killer in a mask. That's not scary. What's scary, is the thought of a fucked up dude living on a lake who kills all who shall dare to tresspass. Jason is back!

well i only remember seeing jason running through the forest once....i can't remember what part it was. i just remember laughing the first time i saw it. the walking slowly and creeping up and poping out of nowhere is more scary then running when he runs i can't take it seriously.....i really don't see the need for all these remakes anyways. they should just put the mask back on kane hodder and forget about jason x and make 3 more movies. instead of these "reboots"

actually no while sequels made them famous they are the worst rviewed and 1 and 2 were the only good ones.Also it wasn't redoing 34 infact while the had some of the same kills as homages the plot was different from them.What made friday the 13th was the first it drew people in and 2 made jason an icon but 3 4 5 and fvj didn't work either.Jason was a dying franchise as people say and it worked to revive people's hopes to the point where fans are getting another next year.

Oh my god, terrible....the acting was just passable, the killings were not original, too many sex scenes that dragged on too long (yes, you do need them but come on) and whatever...the ending?? yeah, throw him back in the water...why didnt they just leave him there where he supposely died??

I found it kinda annoying how Jason was fast in the sense of he is ages behind you then in front of you. For example, the black guy is getting away so Jason runs to the axe makes sense but how he got back to the house so fast wasn't that annoying but just a little. He would've had enough time to make it to the house if he ran to it after he threw the axe, but being on the roof and not making any noise was a little annoying. Looked cool though and this is a movie remember

Not really he was going to run in the first movie he appeared in but they took it out his back story alot of this is the original script before with some of there own stuff.
