monsterthug1952 is completely right, your not holding your finger over the hole when you pump wich is allowing the pressure to escape therefore your pressure build up is poor, but thanks for the video! it was good
@gerberboy0100 originally, I'd need to pump before I lit the stove, then a couple more times until it got hot. But now, need to pump the entire time - it's leaking air somewhere
@gerberboy0100 when its working properly, you pump before lighting, then when it first lights. Then you shouldn't need to pump again. The heat reflecting down from the pot warms the fuel - and increases the pressure (with white gas at least, different for kerosene) Thanks for watching.
maybe you used the lighter fluid instead of kerosene, thats why it boiled your water quickly, besides lighter fluid reuqires more air to pump after 20 mins onwards...
@afterthefox7 great question. You need to pump these stove before lighting, and also after lighting - until they warm up - to maintain pressure. It's in the directions. Thanks for watching.
@xibudliteix Actually, the rubber or leather seal—down on the end of the pump plunger, inside—makes a one-way valve, so, no, you needn't cover that center hole; acting one-way, as you push and pull, when you pull—draw the plunger outward—air is drawn in, and as you push, the slight increase in inside pressure, balloons the seal, pressing it against the pump barrel, tightly enough to hold pressure, building up inside, . . .
@xibudliteix Thanks for serving our country! yah, they're nice little stoves. This newer one is no longer working, but I have another from 1987 that still works great
@monsterthug1952 thanks for the comment. I pump it up with my thumb over the hole, then twist to seal. However, after running for about 5 minutes, it runs out of pressure. I've also noticed that you can really hear the air coming out when the stove is on - much more so than before. I'm planning to tear it down - see what's going on inside the stove
@chukchee it was on clearance in a scout store - it was a steal, though I must admit, this particular stove has stopped working. Seems to have a leak in the tank somewhere - and loses air pressure rapidly, seems to be leaking out the pressurized air with the fuel
@bbt95762 Normally the stove will have to be preheated with kero. A minute or so of preburn with a bit of denatured alcohol, heet, or similar will do the trick. The flashpoint of kero is highter than coleman/unleaded.
$20 is a smokin' price for that stove. I think the cheapest I've seen them new is ~$60.
@bbt95762 Hello from Germany. I used the coleman multi fuel in the last days very often and suddenly there comes no mor gas up to the top and I tryed it to regulate but it doesen't worked anymore. The coleman has enough preasure but the gas doesn't funnel to the top where I normally burn it. Can you help me?
@Lyriklex strange, I've recently had a simlar problem. I took this little stove on a camping trip a few months ago, and it seems to be blowing more air than fuel through the nozzle. I haven't had a chance to tear it down yet - but sounds like you're having a similar issue. Can you hear anything when your turn your valve on? or does all the pressure stay in the chamber?
@Lyriklex yes, sounds like something is clogging the pipes. You may need to disassemble and clean - or try emptying all the fuel, and adding new (make sure to use a screen filter). Maybe just some sand in the fuel.
@bbt95762 Many thanks, I will try it and hope it works because the coleman is very expensive in Germany . I payed 100 € that's round about 130 $. I don't have any ambitions to buy a new one.

@etekballer14 . You need to pump these stoves to build initial pressure. So, normally before you light, and after the stove gets lit. Once you have a good flame going, and a pot on top. The heat alone will generally keep the pressure high enough.
I own a similar model and it's a little heavy like you said in the notes but what a great stove. I own a wisperlite and a trangia but I love my Coleman. It's fast, simple and reliable as anything. It's my go-to stove for day hikes and car camping. $20.00 dollars is an amazing price!
yah, I agree with you. I have an older version (from 23 years ago) - that I used for everything. Backpacking, cycle-hiking, car camping. Just goes and goes and goes. Sometimes a little extra weight is a good trade off.
Hmmm...tried getting this stove. Coleman has discontinued it. Still stock in some stores but not my city. Ended up finding a 442 for $80. Worth more to me than the money in the bank when I need it.
I just looked, and the stove appears to be essentially the same - the (vapor) generator and feet may be slightly different. Let me know how it works for you.
I was going to get a Copco percolator at the same time, but the store where I got that stove and fuel seemed to be sold out of them. I'll be firing the stove up when I can make some coffee. :)
yah, that was an amazing deal, I think they normally run about $50 or so. Campmor, Walmart, ... all good sources. i've also seen them on ebay for a good price. I have an older version that I've had for about 22 years now, used it for everything from car camping to backpacking/canoeing... it's never failed me.
ud pay 100 euro 4 that here

@bbt95762 put it in a bath of water, pump it and check where the leak is.

@xibudliteix just when you're pushing down. You release the thumb on the up stroke to allow the chamber to fill with air. Thanks

Not a pressure loss he needs to keep his thumb over the hole in end of pump while pumping that will take care of the problem .

@bbt95762 Did you try replacing the filler cap? The seal in the filler cap is usually the first thing to wear out.

Ok I haven't used the white gas. I've only used kerosene. Yes it lights well but the flame is only blue on the lowest setting.
Thank you for replying

What fuel did you use in the video. I've been using kerosene for the 2 years I've had mine.
Thank you

@ChuckCh9 I just using white gas. Mine came with the jets for kerosene - but I never swapped it. Does it light with with Kerosene?
