  • Hey crumb boss, I made your vanilla cake recipe, but mine turned out VERY liquidy, like soup! Please help!

  • @hahaproductions14 ! I’m sorry to hear this happened to you. I am not sure where you may be going wrong, however some others have also had various problems on their first try, maybe you can read some of the comments on the blog on the vanilla cake comments section, and see how people fixed their mistakes so you can try again and have fabulous results!

  • I love your recipes and videos! Thank you Stephany and Crumb boss ;)

  • Crumb boss! You are so awesome. I attempted a vanilla cake before and it was a mess but following your recipe, I was able to make a successful batch - half of cupcakes and half of cake (since I didn't have the round pans). Thank you so, so much for posting these videos! You're my favorite cooking teacher. Who said you couldn't learn on YouTube?

  • @angeliqe1001 you need to have some muscle to be able to lift such heavy cakes your supposed to be able to lift 40 pounds at least and several times also they have to be at your waist level so its hard lifting 40 pounds several times at waist level :)

  • Hey Crumb Boss!

Just a few qns before i get started.

Do you use granulated sugar or fine sugar?

How long do you mix the eggs for before adding in the sugar?

At what time do you add the flour?

  • @chongyunxin reg granulated, eggs: at least 5 minutes. I think I showed when to add the flour in the vid

  • @steph91069 hey crumb boss i tried it today but the cake was too moist and it was uneven on the surface. also, the middle cracked. what went wrong??

  • @chongyunxin hmmm, sounds like ALOT went wrong, its hard to say with those results, but did you make sure you measured everything correctly?? I would start there, make sure that is all correct and that you are using EXACTLY the same things I wrote, like flour same, butter same, eggs etc

  • @steph91069 can i replace the milk with buttermilk and the butter with unsalted sweetened butter also the all purpose flour with the cake flour? thank you :)

  • haha when you guys say you cant wait till Christmas comes it's Christmas now and in Florida it's like 100 degrees here....

  • come to my country and it will work really i tried it

  • haha such a great recipe :D it's cooking in the oven right now, and i poked it a bit and it was sooo fluffy! thankyou ;D

  • i dont have a kitchen aid so I hope using a whisk is fine or I do have a small beater but idk if that will work. >.< worth a shot

  • Love the recipes. Just made my first buttercream icing. Came out great! Can you please make a white cake?

  • heyy cumb boss! can i just add abit of chocolate to it at the end (before baking) just for a touch? love your vids btw! im gonna go do your checkered cake now! ;D

  • Cougar...

  • how long do i have to keep it in the oven? please reply I'm going to make a breakfast for my grandmas birthday next week and it involves this.

  • @squirerecon Until its done!!! When the center springs back and your finger indent does nto stay depressed, it is done. Approx 35 minutes for 8" layers

  • I feel lucky because everytime I search for good bakers/cooks on Youtube I always find the ones that are hot and great cooks if I had the extra thumbs I'd give this video well all your videos 20 thumbs up

  • has anyone tried this recipe yet? if so, did it taste/ turn out good?

  • how do you keep your yellow cake from over browning? I've tried putting parchment paper on the pans and lowering the heat but im not sure what else to do.

  • @MelodyC87 Sounds like you are doing all the right things, not sure why this is happening to you.

  • Hey Crumb Boss!! Please forgive me if you've already answered this, but when you stack your cakes, do you level off the tops or just stack them as-is from the pans? Thank you SO much for all your help and tutorials! You and the Producer are the BEST!

  • @neselvince ALways trim them up level as possible for stacking, very important.

  • @steph91069 Thank you for responding so quickly! Ok, I will do this from now on.

  • Can you freeze or refrigerate unbaked cake batter? I want to know because sometimes I make too much batter and I want to stash it in the fridge but I am worried that it will change the consistency of the cake.

    Thanks :)

  • @30FlyingFish It worked for me! Just not longer than 4 days! I havent tried to freeze it though, However you can freeze the baked cake layers

  • I will like to make chocolate chip cupcakes!! So can I add chocolate chips to this batter? And what size of C chips?

  • @kikikat165 Mini's or reg chips would work, and yes, add them it will be wonderful!

  • 2 questions, 1, did you mix only egg white or did you mix full eggs with the yoke? 2, about the mixing i noticed that you mixed for quite a while with a mixser matchine, my questions is, can you still get the volume the way it has to be without using a mixing machine, if yes how do you mix manually to get that volume and how long do you have to mix. i love to hear from you soon, thanks

  • @Ogedengbealaba Whole eggs. Yes, important to whip it at length to get the volume necessary for a light fluffy cake. I doubt you could replicate this by hand, it would take a lot of FAST hand mixing. Mix it for about 5 minutes on high speed

  • Hey i just wanted to know what is you vanilla cake recipie like how many eggs, sugar and flour do you put in the recipie I need the whole recipie step by step. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!

  • This is an awesome recipe! I just made it and it's cooling but I have to admit, I did try the batter. Pure heaven. The only thing I did different was add a dab of almond extract. I didn't have any confectioners sugar to make buttercream so I made a 7 minute frosting. Not as good as buttercream but I didn't want to go to the store.

  • Sorry to bother you but I have 1 more question to ask (I want my friend's cupcakes to be perfect): i have 17 cupcakes, I need to bake them in batches of 6 because my oven is small. I know the air bubbles will escape if not baked immediately so will the cupcakes become tough?

  • @EvilandRandomppl good question, I think you will be OK....when I made the video for this, I let the batter sit in the pan until the next day as I didnt want to fire up the oven for one cake! And it was fine, I ate the whole cake in 2 days

  • Hi, I made first ever cake from scratch the othe day (from another recipe successfully used in PR by many) but for some reason it was really hard on the sides and top edges & inside seemed kinda compacted & dry & kinda looked not cooked fully inside :( Oven wasn't too high @ 350 so is that how it looks inside usually when its over cooked? I am going to try yours but wondering bout the other one since I'm scared now... HELP!!!

  • @Guerreradelsenor check out all the comments on the blog site (on vanilla cake recipe there) you may get some helpful tips, also facebook crumbboss page has a GREAT group!! Dont be scared, this recipe is easy and WONDERFUL! ALl the other recipes you will find are CRAPPY! Hahaha, compared toCrumb Boss recipes, mine are tried and TRUE and I wouldnt share a crap recipe!

  • @steph91069 Hi, I finally got a chance to try your vanilla cake recipe and omg...everyone loved it!!! I loved it!!! it tasted soooo good and was sooooo moist. absolutely awesome. It's def. the best I've tried so far...thanks so much for sharing your recipes and God bless!

  • @steph91069 by the way...I made two separate batters and made a two layer 13x9 cake then I made a pineapple filling to add to the middle and white Icing for the top and sides! mmmmm like I said everyone loved the cake woohoo thanks Crumb Boss your Vanilla cake with my pineapple filling was a hit! BTW: so far your right all other recipes have been crappy hahaha though I must admit I was so nervous as I was making it because it was looking so different from the rest! but at the end, mmmm lol

  • the recipe's not on your website :(

  • @queeneye69 crumbboss (dot) com

  • What's the measuring for each??thnx

  • If I use this to bake cupcakes, would it take around 15-20mins?

  • @EvilandRandomppl I woul.d say closer to 20

  • I can't wait for 16 November! I'm making rainbow cupcakes with this recipe with buttercream frosting!

  • @EvilandRandomppl YAY! Cmon Nov 16th!!! Please be sure to post on facebook when you do!!!

  • @steph91069 i absolutely will!!! it's for my friend's birthday!!! :)

  • Im going to try it out again. Beside the dryness I really liked it. Lovee ur videos!

  • @crystalc8184ever Ok, watch vid again, be sure your ingredients are EXACTLY the same (unsalted butter!!), oven temp 325 - 350 (no higher than 350) and JUST until the center is springy, not overbaked....and browned.... and try it again, let me know how it works out!

  • I tried this cake the other day but it came out dry. :( mayb i measured somethin wrong. Wat do u think made the cake dry?

  • @crystalc8184ever Perhaps your measure was off. First I think it could have been overbaked? This is always my first thought when something is too dry...too muh flour? Too much baking? Lots of people have tried this reciep and really love it! Sorry this happened to you!

  • Omgg, this seems so easy, but i tried n for some reason my cakes wont raise! I do everything by hand.

  • @gatita229 I thiknk you would need a machne for this, part of the risinig is due to the creaming which incorporates alot of air, and helps the rise!

  • OMG!!! I just tried this today and made cupcakes with it. And let me say..it was delicious. It even taste better than the store bought cupcakes. Even my son who doesn't eats cakes or cupcakes, ate 2 and even he said it was the best cupcake ever. I just wanna say THANK YOU for sharing your recipe. You're the best!!! <3<3

  • Crumb Boss - where have you been all my life? I'm going to make this cake - TODAY - and film it. :-) Super excited! Looks FABU!

  • helllo crumb boss i am a big fan i wach all of your cake makeing this cake is the best cake evryy i make it at home

  • wow.. u got the guns out.

  • hi i had a question. You said you wanted to incorporate air into the mixture, so wouldn't it be easier to use the whisk attachment for the mixer?

  • Hi Crumb boss..I am a great fan....make all your recipes..but I notice that your beaters are chipped...actually, like mine..I had to buy new ones cause that paint chips off into the mix...why do you still use it??? I was so surprised....not that I am causing trouble but that is dangerous.

  • Hi, thanks so much for making this video definately going to try and make it soon. :)
