What the fuck? I'm going to go kill myself now; all this game taught me is that humanity is hopeless and evil and that I should be depressed and shit yet hold on to hope too. God, so much for subtlety... It really annoyed me in this game with all the false poetic philosophical crap, they just made it up as they went along, I think. Also, they kept saying their world was turning ugly and ruined, if that was the case then why the hell did they design it all to look so beautiful? SO HYPOCRITICAL.
Thank you for posting this up. I was playing this with Japanese audio and English subtitles, but they didn't subtitle this part in the credits, so for the whole ten minutes I sat there thinking, "They must be saying some deep stuff but I CAN'T TELL."
Great game, although I feel like they really drew out the ending too far with the rhetorical questions and philosophizing. I'm all for philosophy-- I love questioning life and all that good stuff. But it felt a bit too forced in this bit. I think
@NeoseekerDarkKnight lol ikr they had to make it all philosophical (not that im complaining I had fun playing Eternal Sonata besides thats what they were going for with the whole "we are born, live life, then die. so do youre best to make peace b4 then" theme) anyway about the "dont do drugs" Viola at 1:40 in her own special way.
First, its not "socrates questions" it's called the Socratic Method. You're thinking of rhetorical questions. The Socratic Method is a means of asking questions that brings the student to realize the point you're getting at through their own answers.
'Are you living life to the fullest? Are stepping out of your box? Are you giving to charity? TIME'S ALMOST UP. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING YOU'RE GONNA DIE IF YOU DON'T CHANGE.'
Wow guys. Thanks for the uplifting ending. I'm gonna go kill myself now. -_-
God what a terrible piece of shit ending. It's like that cartoon all-stars special where all the cartoons tell us 500 times not to do drugs. Only this is even worse because it's talking fucking nonsense.
"Additional Voices: Alan Smithee". Wow. Congrats on beating the game, Master. It's a shame that it's so short. Not that that'll stop me from buying it for the PS3 next, w00t.
I got this game for free becuase of a deal at gamestop....however...Had I seen this, even 1/4 of this, I would have bought this game the day it came out...back in the day.... I think this was one of the best endings to a game ever. (Especially since I didn't care for the fact the entire game was a dream world...)
Its strange that this scene was removed and replaced in the ps3 version. Maybe they weren't happy with it, felt it was a little too pretentious and preachy.
I wish they had added a development commentary to the game explaining their reasons for the change, I'd love to know.
I still prefered it to the ps3 version where chopin just explains his dream which was obvious to us anyway.
I feel they made a mistake removing this, for me the xbox ending is better as a result.
This is in the PS3 version, except insteed of them speaking to you they just recite lines from the game itself that reflects the points their making here
Like in the EXCAT same order and everything lol
I think you have to beat it on encore mode or summant
-_-... errr... this is such a first... seriously, this was almost like an anti-drug commercial where random people come out and say some strange obscure facts to teach us about something. on a more serious note, what the hell does fred mean about whether if this was really a dream?
I would suggest you study the nature of reality and our psychological perceptions of it. This video is my most favorite Eternal Sonata one of them all.
I took a psychology class in college once, and of course I know the whole reality philosophy concepts expressed in this video... but this video is still absurdly infomercial-y and it's just so awkward to see this randomly placed here. well, i guess this is the only place they could put a thing like this here.
lol I get your point. For some reason I don't think it is totally random that this is put here, but that would venture into 'crazy-ass theory' territory.

HolyBomb 2 years ago
Nooooo the lines from this vid arn't in the PS3 version
In the PS3 version of this ending they use lines from the game itself
...you dig? lol the vid's in my favorties which will probably explain it better XD
lnc0 2 years ago
This part doesn't exist in the PS3 version... Instead, it's Chopin talking all the way about what happened or something like that...
That game is fantastic, I love it !

So yeah, ES has a really trippy ending. >_>

The quotes are a bit altered from the original ones from the story itself.
But you are right, that is amazing on a special point of view.
anyway, I like this part of the ending, too.

Well I think they're just trying to tie the story together while adding in the psychological part of it?
Chibiviola 3 years ago
They are not only speaking to Chopin, they are speaking to those of the game's audience willing to listen.
SwobyJ 3 years ago
Yea it does seem out of place, but it does make sense after thinking about it. Even I thought it was "weird" until I thought about it.
I think this is one of the best scenes in the game.. even though you are right, it feels like a "infomercial-y" type scene.
MasterLL 3 years ago
This scene does rub me the wrong way a little tho
It's like they went 'well we could leave the hidden symbolism in this game for the players to dcypher
Or we could just shove it all in the faces at the end
....
MINERAL POWDER IS A SYMBOLISM TO DRUGS LOLOLOLOLOLOL'
That's kind of annoying, you don't see Suda 51 pulling that on us
