J.Geils was without a doubt the best live band i have ever seen. And to compare ive seen Def Leopard ,Billy Squire,Blue Oyster Cult,Fog Hat,MollyHatchet,Skynard,etc..­...Geils put on the best live performance all 5 times i saw them. Some bands excel at live performances and these guys were the ones at that time and the songs are timeless. Forget about the commercial successes like centerfold and look at the good stuff they did

Kid rock is great but come on really??? Peter Wolf and the J. Geils band all time best live show ever in any decade. Kid Rock is smart to latch on to great artist like he is doing them a favor when he doesn't compare with their talent but good for him to recognize.

and kid rock has been releasing records since the early 90's , and doing country records after he got popular doing raprock records is a move im sure his publicist wasnt to happy about, he plays with hank williams jr. lynyrd skynyrd , david allan coe etc. hes respected by all those musicians , and yeah i recomend you google it or go to wikipedia it you might find out your wrong, no disrespect or anything but check it out for your self just read anything about his carreer.

this is why i made the vanilla ice referenc--it was totally parallel to bob's career. rich guy from the suberbs decides to have a rap career. vanilla ice got 'outed' as a fake, though he did have huge sucess beforehand. I think some of kid rock's tunes are catchy too, but my disrespect is for the whole corporate music machine, and its overwhelming support by the young masses. (more in next post)

kid rock was a rich white kid who moved out of his parents house to the ghettos of detroit so he could spin records at house parties , sleep behind dumpsters etc. i dont know i think its a good story he worked for a long time i think he deserves, and eveeryonce in a while i think a good gimmick is good if the music can back it up, and hes very talented.

Vanilla Ice on the other hand , from the beggining Claimed to be from the "hood" and later we found out he wasnt he was a fake, Kid Rock never claims to be from the hood he claims to be from Romeo MI, which is a suburb of detroit, he never claims to be from the hood , he just claims to be whitetrash which is fine by me. you can listen to any of his first albums and he'll say romeo about 30 times in everyone.

I know there is great live music around here, and i dont want anyone thinking im a Kid Rock fanboy, i do like kid rock though, and radio is dead i dont listen to it, i just dont like when people bag on kid rock because he is talented if you listen his past 2 albums youd even find something you like on it, he gets a bad rap from his first big album no one listens past that,and im a very harsh when it comes to critisizing music, i like a lot of music but hate a lot more.
