  • I wished you guys could say the asking price for the guitars on the video. Its interesting to know how much they are worth.

  • Omg exzact guitar i want xD

  • I'll consider it once I sell my apartment and a few organs

  • haha fuckin' nail polish

  • I have the reissue of this guitar. It's really good and versatile. Not saying its as good as this one, but they did a really good job with it. I'm kind of wanting a Jazzmaster, but not sure I can give up my tele. It's just a really good solid "does everything" guitar. Really cuts through a mix too.

  • its muffled because pickup select one is bridge pickup select 2 is neck pickup with tone control and pickup select three is neck pickup with tone cut to create a more jazzy tone for jazz rhythm tones

  • Ive got one of these, how much would i get it after one 10 years more?

  • How many million of dollars there are in this room? amazing...

  • WHY all the dirty metal tones? These guitars excel at clean and distortion, but modern guitars don't work as well for clean. It was designed for picking country western twang, show it off!

  • @OFR Where do you hear metal tones here? The amp is barely breaking up.

  • I have a telecaster that looks just like that one. But its $500 and made in Mexico. Still gets the job done

  • keep pressing 1:26

  • im 100% so inloveee with teles! just the best

  • $75,000? Holy fuck man.

  • @samjad1 the american 52 reissue that fender sells does have that tone rolled off in the neck, and it comes with an update kit for people that don't want that.

  • this is the best tone that i've heard !!!!!!!!

  • tele rocks!!!!!!

  • PHIL X ROCKS! RESPECT! but you gotta lose that manicure man! :))

  • I L.O.V.E Telecasters

  • Damn! I love so much the sound of telelcaster :D :D :D :D

  • lol i thought the fret inlays were moving, then I paused the video and realized that his fingernails are painted black.

  • "Hey Rickey, you wanna go rock out for a while?"

"Nah dude, I just painted my nails and they aren't dry."

    What a chump

  • thanks for the name of the song rock n roll hoochie koo!!

    i have a new channel!!

    you are great phill!! :)))

  • I love playing guitar, but theres on damn way I'm paying that much for one haha. 3g is the most I'd spend. I have a tele in the same color and I'm sure I'll stick with it for years to come.

  • I used to own that guitar!

  • whats the name of this great song? i love this telecaster it sounds very good

  • @TheDorksMania it's called 'Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo" by Johnny Winter

  • whats the name of the song you first play

  • what Phil says at the end of this video pretty much says it all.

  • This inspired me to go pick up my Strat and play some funk.

  • The James Brown funk scream at 1:26 gets me EVERY time. Thank you, Phil X, for sometimes including some JB in your demos!

  • if you guys had a rosewood telecaster id buy it

  • Thanks again phil for the Tele, I am in LOVE with this beautiful axe, my life is fullfilled!

    Cheers!

    Paul Mantry

ps: Check my videos all Rockers! :)

  • it was hard for me to tell the black dot inlays apart from his painted fingernails. lol.

  • Yo Phil X how many guitars do you own and which one is your favorite?

  • What would you say is the reason why it sound so fat?? The Age? Is it possible to get this tone with a modern American Standard Tele? What an amazing tone!!

  • @Elimnio - have a look at the custom shop Nocasters - particular the early ones (Mid 1990s) - I've two of of them and they come as standard with that front pickup wiring - but i changed mine to "normal" and the other to a five-way... both sound fantastic and i've plenty of guitars including four LPs but I play the nocasters all the time - through a fender twin with a couple of peddles and they do EVERYTHING! - please try one at your local store..

  • holy shit $75 g's for it.. deep pockets, for those suckers...

  • This thing costed more than my apartment..

  • Don't you people think that the prices of these instruments are waaaaay to high????!!!!!

  • @indrazor1 the fact is that not only those are high quality instruments but they have older woods and electronics (which makes them sound that killer) and some of them are also pieces of music history (52's teles, 54's strats or 59's lps)

  • hi Sounds great!

can you tell me the serial number please?

    thanks

  • why did ya dyed ur nails :S:S

  • i have a '52 reissue... mine is from '99... the best investment i ever made. it sounds so amazing

  • im going to buy a telecaster now so in 58 years time il be 75k richer :)

  • @BMXBOBO More like $200,000 richer in 58 years after you add inflation.

  • I've always wondered: why is the bridge pickup on a tele slanted?

  • this is easily the best sounding guitar you guys have done.

  • Is that a Ressue Telecaster, with U shape neck, that is sold in stores??

  • @Milamag not at all.

  • What is the song at 0:21 Please =D

  • can u at least tell me what asking price was, not how much it was sold for

  • @PBANDSNOW $75,000

  • @frettedamericana damn, i hope the buyer got it for a little less

  • @frettedamericana hot damn! sounds like it!

  • @frettedamericana DUDD THATS EXPENSIVE !! :D

I HOPE ITS WORTH IT (I SURELY KNOW IT WUZ :D)

  • @frettedamericana you bitches are makin a killin!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @frettedamericana

    Holy shit.

  • @frettedamericana damn... house < fender tele 1952

  • @frettedamericana Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • @frettedamericana

    Holy fucking shit.

  • @frettedamericana if you ever find a very very very rare bob marley les paul like a gibson les paul special faded brown thqat would cost a lot of$

  • @frettedamericana

    Holy. Shit.

  • @frettedamericana Sweet cream on an ice cream sandwich!!

  • @frettedamericana Your presentations are good but you have too much of that "yeah dude"....."sweet"....... fruity vibe going on.Just play and describe the instrument.

  • @70goldtop he could lose the nail polish

  • @70goldtop fuck that he's just being himself

  • @frettedamericana

    Jesus christ..

  • @frettedamericana Oh shit :O

  • @frettedamericana HOLY SHIT!

  • i luv ur nails...there awesome..

  • how did the frets pop onto ur fingernails??

  • Greetings guitar nerds!

So I'm building a tele, and I'd like to emulate the tone of this guitar as best I can. Any suggestions on boutique pickups that have this kind of vib? My playing wouldn't ever justify buying an orignal. I'm trying to build my tele for some rockin funk stuff, and this is tonealicious!

  • Dream guitar .. <3

  • I dare to say You're a lier, mr. Phil-x. I bought exacly the same Vintage 52 telecaster, and the switch setup is as follows: 1st position - Bridge pickup / 2nd position - Neck pickup (only) / 3dr position - Neck pickup through condensator. There is no position that two pickups are playing in parallel so your "best funky sound" is from the neck pickup alone. If you re-wire the guitar to use a standard switch setting you still have this sound in 3rd position (if you throw away the condensator).

  • @Jim6123 Sorry but this is very interesting! What's that system of condensator? This guitar is full of surprise! Third position you mean middle position? Thanx to light my darkness!

  • how much did it go for?

  • @ts2101 i'm sorry but once a guitar is sold the price is confidential

  • @frettedamericana

    cocksucker

  • @TheBartsbart I'm sorry you feel that way, but our clients value their privacy and have the absolute right to it. Once a guitar is sold, the price it was sold for is private. If you want to know what the list price was, that we can divulge. But we will never publish the actual sold price.

  • @frettedamericana i dont understand, your not telling us the persons name, where they live or anything, just how much money an ANONYMOUS person we will never know bought it for. I dont think it matters and i dont think theyd care. Its just a price

  • @nymetsrock The price someone paid for a guitar is confidential. The person who bought the guitar is confidential. The ONLY information we will divulge is the list price. That is our policy.

  • @nymetsrock You're an idiot. I suppose you want the owners garage code too?

  • @TheBartsbart I think your the cocksucker... this guy gets to play all sorts of the most badass guitars known to man, and you call him a cocksucker? I want to punch you in the cornea.

  • @KJGordon05 lol what about the rest of his eye

  • @KJGordon05

    go ahead cocksucker

  • Price?

  • @av1708 Sold

  • loving the black nails.....perhaps that is where i am going wrong...lol

  • Is this one sold to matt rach?

  • @kay4x4 @kay4x4 that is not true, matt rach made a new video using a tele at january 2008, this video posted at november 2008, dude you suck,.

  • Mat Rach guitar.

  • @kay4x4 yeah, the guy with canon rock right?

  • @kay4x4 that is not true, matt rach made a new video using a tele at january 2008, this video posted at november 2008, dude you suck,.

  • Rock n roll HOOOCHIEKOOOO!

  • Dude have you ever bought any of the guitars you show because you liked it so much? lol

  • I am pretty much sure that on 1:22 "That beautiful tone in the middle" is the neck pickup and you do have it after changing the wiring. What you don't have right now is the combination of the two pups. Instead now you get the pup with the tone rolled off.

  • this guy has the best job!

  • Man, that middle tone sounds like it'd be perfect for Stevie Ray Vaughan songs. What an absolutely amazing guitar.

  • Forget selling guitars, you could just produce a Time/Life video series, "The Greatest Guitars in History". Just like these, but longer, in HD, through vintage amps. Narrated by Alec Baldwin. You'd make a killing ;-)

  • @intrsoul or Morgan Freeman!

  • @DrGolfJam oh jesus funk monkeyballs yes!!!!!

  • @intrsoul This store has material to do like a big documentary with all the guitars that influenced the music along the years, that would be freaking awesome

  • can anyone help me cause im trying to pick which guitar i should by next..a fender strat with maple neck or a epiphone double neck cherry red

  • @toxicmonkey9991 It depends if the strat is American.. But in my opinion you should get the strat.. its probably the most versatile guitar ever. I've got an American Tele and i love it.

  • @toxicmonkey9991 none, just buy an ibanez but if u want one of this two just buy the strat

  • it sounds somewhat like a les paul. cool.

  • Good work sir, first off, but I have a question. You said in the video that this tele sounded really fat for a tele, and i hear that too, but that makes me wonder, what happened over the years to make a tele sound thinner? so much so that it has a reputation for being thin now.

  • why you have the same cloth in all of your videos

  • @MarcelBeatles My guess would be that most of them were filmed on the same day

  • @MarcelBeatles maybe he filmed them all on the same day

  • play on phil x! dont ever stop!!

  • phil u were lightin that room a fiery blaze!

  • I bought a used 1999 reissue of a 1952 tele and it plays awesome... i got to play an actual 1952 and its amazing

  • Is this and the '52 Les Paul the two oldest guitars on here? Or is there something older, that I can lust over? O.o

  • I love fretted americana, and phil x. im fucking jealous of his job. ><

  • he'll make a good guitarist for miley cyrus...\m/

  • this is the same guitar used by jimmy page for recordong the cover guitar solo of stairway to heaven, this was gifted to him by jeff beck

  • okay if you play guitar you know this guy is pretty good not godlike so all the haters should shut up

  • Love you Phil....but I agree with the comment about less gain. It's a Telecaster Dude!!!

  • Gosh, poor you, you smashed on ALL of your nails with a hammer, NICE!

  • Big fan of Phil X but I really think he should have laid off on the gain for this one, I would have loved to hear a few country influenced licks for a sense of its era.

  • Whats your main guitar you play?

  • Where's the Tele scream? :D

  • The first Telecaster was made of Cheese.

  • How much did it sell for?

  • how much is that?

  • I love how this guy doesn't shy away from really playing these guitars. I feel like most people who could afford them wouldn't play them, they'd just put them on a wall and look at them.

  • I would not mind to have your job.

  • @eugenecraddock

Are you kidding me?! Are you one of those guys that got mad when Rock and Roll was invented? Don't be a gear snob.

  • nothing like the sound of vintage teles

  • Will trade testicle for telecaster.Offer stands.

  • i have a strat and the neck is like playing sandpaper compared to the smoothness of the tele i tried the otherday! i really want one.. need the £££££ first haha

  • Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo! Haha nice playing Phil.

  • That DOES sound fat for a Telecaster. Sounds almost identical to one of the REALLY old Les Pauls, the ones with P-90s. Did it just get warmer with time?

  • are your finger nails painted

  • @eugenecraddock I agree man!!!! All these vintages and he's destroying them with all this overdrive!! Lets hear overdrive and CLEAN!!!!!!!!

  • I must agree with a few of the previous comments. If you have the distinct HONOR of holding much less playing one of these fine classic instruments, one should at least briefly demonstrate sounds ands chops from the same period, as an homage! Electric music preceded those chops and so did this instrument. Love to hear some slide on that thing though an old Deluxe, ever hear of a man called Muddy?

  • Dude i have a complaint

you had a Telly and you did'nt play any Bruce Springsteen lol

  • the tele magic is in the "bridge "pickup...everyone gets hung -up on the "neck ... also . it sounds fat because of all the "distortion.

  • it sounds fat because of all the "distortion....the "magic of a telecaster is in the "bridge "pickup".. not the neck ...i dont get this "thing with the "neck pickup...

  • I would have to be one of those guys who made the tone variable on the neck pickup. Tele neck pickups can be really particular but when you finally find that perfect tele neck sound it's one of the best!

  • Mmmmmm....Butterscotch Tele....

  • I think tele's a soo versatile to any sound of music. I have a squier model of this exact one and love what sound it gives back for me.

  • nice playing! and nice black nail polish ;)

  • anybody know what amp is being used in this video?

  • @heidegger1976 Probably the 60's ToneMaster or the 64 Vox AC30

  • Im totally gonna buy one of those reissue tele's they sound allmost just like this, and they got those heavy sounding alnico 3 pickups

  • John 5 pretty much owns all vintage telecasters nowadays, i wont be surprised if this ends up in his collection..

  • i dont think anybody can afford this guitar lol ridiculous

  • you play like shit man!

  • @gilad199 let's see what you got hot shot!

  • @frettedamericana yeah phil x rocks. keep up the great job.

  • @frettedamericana are you kiddng to listen to him you great skill and fantastic vibrato! Keep it up!

  • @gilad199 lets see you do better

  • @gilad199 dude ,, WTF ??

  • @gilad199 dude ??

  • @gilad199 douche

  • @gilad199 faggot.

  • @gilad199 ass!

  • @gilad199 I bet you can't do any better

  • @gilad199

    wtf xD

  • @gilad199 yea man u propbably play horrible!

  • @gilad199 What a you on about!?!? I effin' hate when you noobies comment on videos because you have no clue what you're talking about!!

You better recognize when you listen to players way better than you. Hey you might learn something, little man.

  • @gilad199 are you crazy !!!!! hes amazing

  • @gilad199 i must say if you cant see the extreme talent that Phil x posses, which you obviously dont have. Then you absolutely have no! understanding or musical experience or any kind of righteousness too speak about a topic and a area that you don´t have the intellect, knowledge or heart too understand. you my good sir are "rock" less

  • @gilad199 Im sorry I believe you have a typo. you meant to say phil x is THE shit. No hard feelings bro!

  • lol I sit and watch videos of stuff i can never afford..lol why do we do this to ourselves.

  • lol that's so true =D

    specially with vintage pedals

  • @Musicjuicebox i really like the licks he play and its not what i usually play so i try to get inspired by the vids.. and of course i love to see the guitars i'll never own as well ;D

  • @Musicjuicebox

We enjoy hearing amazing tones that inspire us to go play and find more awesome tones.

  • @Musicjuicebox

Just save up for one. It might take years but it's worth it.

  • @Musicjuicebox lol So True!
