Ha, I loved this song. Used to play the whole thing by memory as well. I played it at a slower tempo. But that was like 5 years ago. I think I forgot all that stuff :-(
When I was a senior in 03', a fellow rookie percussionist and I played this song, this speed on 2 marimbas. We were so tired at the end but it took us half a year to learn to play. Its much harder than the piano version and yet still, even after playing it, I still love this version much better b/c all notes resonate much longer. Still one of my favorites til this day. ^_^
Capitol O capitol M capitol G 0_o OMG great job! You are truely ah-mazing this is one of my fav Final Fantasy songs and i love how u sped it up it makes it more epic and special cause its in your way XD keep practicing even though you are already great ^^

okay seriously i learned this song a while back and i still agree that the only part that is interesting is the 2:04 to 2:08 section. (the only part where the left hand is actually interesting) and sounds just beautiful :)
Too fast. This is 148 BPMs. You are playing almost presto.
Granted, this is your style of playing so whatever works for you. I fail to hear any major dynamic shifts throughout the entire song due to the speed at which it is performed.
Otherwise, well done. You translated this into a piece of your own!
And in case you want to debate this further, google Final Fantasy Sheet music, click on FF music shrine, go to FFV, click on Battle with Gilgamesh at the bottom (piano collections), and view 148 BPMs.
Dude y dont u make a tutorial for ur version of FF5 gilgamesh? i lot of ppl love it u r bound to get a lot of views & ratings plus make a lot of guys feel good about themselves in piano like me
Can people stop thumbing down constructive criticism? Even if I were a sheep fanboy like most of you I'd still not be afraid of sharing my advice. Douchebags.
when i hear this, it makes me think of the 2nd to last fight with gilgamesh. Where he gets thrown into the abyss. He wonders where he is, and cant find anyhting familiar. Despair, endless daspair... Then he meets up with Bartz and the others. Forgetting who they are temporarily. He remembers his debt to them, and sacrifices himself to save them from necrophobe.
i had never heard this until i saw this vid, hehe. so i decided to get the sheet music and try to be as good as you--the hardest parts are the parallel fourths and for the some reason the decending chromatic quarter notes always get me--maybe because they're so harmonically thick. how did you master those difficulties? were you privately taught or did you teach yourself? awesome video in any case. keep it up--
Both, but I taught myself this song. I agree that the chromatic part is a little tricky sometimes, but you just have to practice it without giving it too much thought because your fingers know where the black keys are but sometimes thinking about it confuses your fingers, so it'd be better if your muscles remembered rather than your head.
Oh man, I added a bunch of battle with gilgamesh videos to my quicklist to listen to while I work, and I smiled right when I saw your face. You play all your songs so excellently, and that is how much I like you.
Comments don't exist solely to praise people. Even if incaylior's comment sounds like BS to you, look at the guy's expression at the begining, and then listen to how sloppy the first minute sounds.
for the record you can hear the dynamics of course not as good as in person but it still sounds awesome...you're such a great pianist...i wish i were you lol
Anyway... excellent playing, you've got perfect technique and enough natural dynamics to keep me interested without you looking like an idiot.
Trust me, I've seen it before. -_-
Problem is, whoever arranged this for piano has no idea how to do left hand accompaniment (re: 00:14, etc). Repeating middle C is a stupid idea when the right hand melody is two octaves above it. The variation at 2:05-2:10 is so much better.
It really ranges most of the time. Sometimes I don't practice at all, and other times I can practice for hours each day for a week. Most of the time it's something in between though, like half an hour to an hour each day.

When you play passionately...you don't pay attention to musicality or little technical details.
And the generic people that criticize YouTube videos with people performing music have gotten a bit old...to not say anything offensive.
