Don't forget the lives of those who were forced to fight for a terror regime. Children put into a war that was already lost. They had no choice and were sent to death either way. Salute to those that were instrumentalized for a psychopathic ideology. Flying courts of SS were sent to search and kill everyone who surrendered or even thought of giving up. Those guys in their Bf109s or FW190 had no choice. Just from school, taken off into a certain death.
I feel pity for those children forced, as you put it, to grab a rifle instead of a book or a toy and put as the front line of a defeated army which was already on its knees while its fanatical leadership, utterly blinded, refused to surrender for the sake of its people.
And those Luftwaffe pilots who kept fighting against innumerable odds for their homeland, their people and not their leader nor his regime have my respect as well.
@1Abdilatif1 It's somewhere in Germany receiving an RAF "Maximum Effort" raid. You can tell by the RAF target indicators (T.I.s) being dropped to mark the aiming point. Lancasters/Halifaxes could drop around 4 times the tonnage per aircraft compared to the Germans hence the destruction. Lancasters always carried a 4,000lb blast bomb & an average of 14,500 lbs of bombs. Except on specialised raids eg the Dams raids & use of Tall Boy/Grand Slam bombs the latter being 22,000 lbs.
daiard, excuse me but that comment makes no sense whatsoever. WW2 was a desperate fight to the death. You are looking back at a historical event (bombing of germany) without any context of what things had happened before and were happening at this time. They were all heroes
Great film but how can people call them heros, they are bombing unarmed civilians. I know Germany bombed British cities and its all out war but two wrongs don't make a right. The random bombing of cities regardless of who done it is one of the most shameful acts of the last century. Our finest hour it most definitely was not. Still though some awesome footage.
You are right, we fight for the glorious leader. When it the ego between two governments/leaders which bring two countries at war. Those cities burning below. How many innocent lives were being blown apart. How many cries of pain and suffering were in the air. How many children must be loosing their parents, how many wives must be loosing their husband etc. War is evil, a product of hatred and those who support are the followers of evil and darkness.
Let me teach you a little lesson about history. There was an organisation named "SS" (small organisation compared to Wehrmacht) which conducted the mass murdering in the "Generalgouvernement" and conducted the concentration camps all over Germany/GG. Then there was the Luftwaffe, a totally different organisation that might had Nazis in its rows but mostly consisted of regular soldiers. Those were young people thrown into a lost war. And not the SS. Use that thing between your ears.
I don't need a "history lesson" from someone from Germany. And why, oh why would you try to stand up for the Nazis? We all know what Germany did during The Great War and World War II.
@CaptainManpowers right but did you know what the Germans made? here is a list Jet engines Jet fighter's Jet bomber Guided missile The most widely used tactic the blitzkrieg The meaning of the term Heavy tank Europe's deadliest battle ship the submarine and the assault rifle ...epic burn
Some of the cockpit stuff was filmed on the ground...the camera is too steady & the lighting is too good for the WW2 era film (color film was not that fast_night shooting). The footage is edited together from a few different sources. I saw some "Memphis Bell" in their...
Wonderful....wanna see you suffocating in a basement with your family while a firestorm sucks the air out of your bunker. That must be so wonderful. Imagine that as a refugee. Forced to work by / for the Axis and bombed out and killed by the allies. How wonderful.
