I toured Holland in 1972 on a Norton Commando. Got wet but had a lot of fun. This seems actually like a better bike.

The main reason for the poor sound is that 90% of the ppl who shoot vids while riding biikes use cosumer cameras with piss-poor audio recording abilities, which are nowhere near the level of pro-level cameras used in making advertising, tv clips etc. Hence the audio in this vid (and many others posted on YT) is nowhere near the real sound this beemer makes.

I rented a 2008 model for a 600KM spin. Great bike, very comfortable. This will be my next bike.

You're obviously in Europe, where? Do they sell diesel F800 ST or is yours gas powered?

I'd buy one if they sounded better. I just couldn't live with a motor that sounds like a sewing machine.

I have one and it doesn't sound quite like that from the rider perspective, I think the camera picking up funky sounds from where it is... from the exhaust perspective it sounds like a quiet mini Harley...

I disagree with hubcaps617. My F800S sounds a lot like this.

...the enormous can on this bike strangles the sound. BMW prides themselves on how quiet their bikes are. But really, they just sound quiet instead of sounding good sometimes. The F800 is a great example of that. Go with an aftermarket exhaust on one of these and they sound great.
