What a load of self-congratulatory garbage. They were good comedy actors (Blackadder, Jeeves and Wooster) but their own creative efforts were lame - A Bit of Fry and Laurie was hopeless.
@IlRezzonico May I interrupt? I hate to, but may I may I? Clearly, A Bit of Fry and Laurie was too sophisticated for your taste. No other reason not to notice the greatness that clearly exists around every twist and turn of that show.
I'm amply aware of that. In doing House, Hugh Laurie has stated that since he's started, he's started to lose his English accent and sometimes finds himself doing an American one. That's what I meant.
this is the third time i watched this... was too young to appreciate their humor in the 80's... now I do... hilarious and both nice guys in "real life". And Stephen is a genius.
@boychildnew1 I did at first, but it really would be a shame not to acknowledge all the awesomeness these two have to offer. Wich for Laurie includes some very good acting, really.
@boychildnew1 definately.... not that i dont think it might be very good but i cant see him as any other than the prince fellow in blackadder.... im Danish btw (dunno why i said that).........
@stinelinda thanks guys and gals (or should that be 'lads and lassies'?). I just cant stand watching Hugh making an American accent for hours on end! Im very interested in the various things that Stephen has been doing (excellent stuff!) But this House programme, I dont want to support - its got half the world loving it already. It doesnt need me. I would rather watch him sing 'Mystery' or talking about his amazing trousers!
@bensimps123 Really?! I'm can't tell if you're being serious or not but Stephen's childhood was very troubling with his school expulsions, bipolar disorder, suicide attempt, prison sentence etc.
@crazypianolady I suppose so, especially when going to Cambridge put Fry on the right path. There are problems in well off families too as you often find the kids are spolit or that they get no love from their parents who have no time for them and just throw money/presents at them (my friend's 7/8 yr old nephews get their iPads out to occupy them in a restaurant!). I've seen both sides of it really, altho I wish I was on the rich side though!)
I love this. I am so happy that Stephen and Hugh are held in such high regard in England. They are trully brilliant. I am also happy that Daniel Radcliffe and Ben Miller love them too.

As someone who admires Stephen greatly, it bothers me that he hasn't become nearly as huge in the U.S. as Hugh has. Stephen deserves to star as a brilliant character in a show in America.
@peaceandmetal88 let it go bud, Stephen could be a big star in the U.S, when he was in 'Bones' they were so impressed with him that they asked him to stay on but alas he couldnt due to his other commitments, i like to think that due to Hugh's fame in America and the advent of sites like youtube that a lot of Hugh's 'House' fans are now discovering Stephen as well, can any Americans watching this back my theory up?

Why is it that the British like to call their successful actors "national treasures"? Have you ever heard an American calling Brad Pitt a national treasure.
@Eamesam Which is a fitting match to the American character and why, if Americans said such things, he would be called a national treasure in the states.
@shinningneverwhy BS, how many other comedic actors coming out of the UK have had more success? Maybe a small handful. So lets not pretend they are given so much attention b/c they haven't been successful. They were funny, they were a success, so they get lots of attention and in the UK at least get called a "national treasure".
I'm not british but the only actor - apart from Mollie Sugden - that Ive known to be called national treasure is Stephen Fry, so I dont know how youve got the impression, that they like to call ALL their successful actors a national treasure.
Yes the continuity is lacking as he gets out of the car. They clearly had to do extra takes maybe it was an excuse for extra hugs lol. Hugh's love for Stephen is clear to see as his eyes light up when he looks through the window. Meh! I've loved them since 1985!

I love Hugh's smile when he sees Stephen and the little "yeah" he gives.
