  • Paul's blind number three was awesome

  • i can't even imagine this happening to me

  • Yeah! I picked the same, Paul xDDD I can't believe she is the girl from "She's leaving home" o.o Maybe I should say Thank you because that song is beautiful!

  • McCartney is such an ugly man. Unattractive in his youth and truly hideous now. Wonder what it is that makes women want him...

  • @MrWonderful855 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..... if your a guy you just wouldn't get it ;P

  • Why did I have to be born in the bloody 1990s I WANT TO BE ALIVE IN THE 60s :'(

  • I would have picked the cutie on the left.

  • id be freaking out cause he said my name xD

  • Paul McCartney is so sexy in that suit.

  • 2:49 If I were her I would be thinking "fuck shaking hands I want a big kiss on lips"

  • Type in songfacts as a URL and browse for the song title... the story in her own words.

  • Song sounds somewhat similar to Buddy Holly's Slippin'n'Slidin

  • Melanie would appear to have a very cute derrier!

Look at Keith's lecherous expression as she walks offstage. ;-) 2.51

  • How did Paul ever keep a straight face? Too friggin funny!

  • The girl 2cd from right was easy the best looks and moves like Brenda prob Paul fancied the other lol

  • He picked the most boring one. Should have been the hillbilly-ette (number 2) or Julia Child (number 3).

  • "You're keen on budding Brenda Lee's are you?" "Ohh yes." "I bet you are." haha, the best part. (:

  • "Ready Paul?"

    "Uh-"

    "OK off we go..."

Wow, how rude ;P It always seems whenever I watch one of these shows with the Beatles, they get cut off all the time.

  • @spongebobforever13

I thought it was amazing myself. Seems hard to believe but it is true. Let's hope she is having a happy life!

  • Girl #3 (next to Melanie Coe) is frightening..

  • was the lp signed?

  • Weirdest thing ever...

  • What a great clip! Thanks for sharing this!!! -- Ken Slavin

  • Those collarless suit jackets the Beatles wore during that time sure look funny now. Actually it makes their white shirt collars look a bit like priests' neckbands. And that's appropriate since the Beatles were and are Holy.

  • Many years later, the girl beside Melanie Coe became Susan Boyle.

  • They should get Paul judging stuff on YouTube.

  • number three is now a gay lawyer. not kidding.

by the way, she should have won. she went all out.

  • WTF???!!!!if I were that girl had not given him a handshake paul i would have hugged and kissed o God

    number 3 is freaking curious

  • you really dont know how much u have brought a load of memories to me after seeing that clip, i was like ;o my brother would love to see this clip but i dont know how to send it =/, cheeers man!!!!

  • Little Glimpse :)

That was a great video! Number 3 was sure getting into it!

  • Wonder where Melanie Coe is today and what she is doing.

  • I just googled Melanie Coe. She's living in Spain now. There's an interesting feature on her in the Daily Mail.

  • Bizarre

  • Lol, this is so random :D Paul is so cuuuuute!

  • LOL - 4 demented dancy midgets, how surreal is that!!!!!!

McCartney looks unsure about the whole idea from start to finish.

  • number 3 was fucking insane

  • i thought #1 would win.

and i thought the girl would try to hug paul but what do i know? lol i know i wouldve been all over him. had to have called security if that had been me!!! lol

  • The show's host should have made Paul be specific about why he chose #4 .... Not that Paul would have admitted the REAL reason, mind you -- but at least it would have momentarily put him on the spot! HA!!

  • lol

paul only picked #4 cuz she was the most attractive one

  • Yea, I think your right. But I thought that #2 was the best.

  • well shes only about 13 there, so i dont think that was his reason for picking her.

  • 13 huh..

doesnt look like it but eh

  • yeah, she looks older but i read about how the song "She's Leving Home" was based on a newspaper clipping of a 17 year old who left home. and apparently that same girl won this show.

  • yes I read something on this melanie coe as being part of a song; that genius sir paul could be inspired to write about anything.

  • Yes, that's definitely true. I wonder if he has ever found out the connection. I'm sure he has and it must've been a deja vu feeling for both. Amazing!

  • number 1 was yhe most attractive one!!!foo

  • And the fact she was the only one wearing black.

  • Dude I do this sort of thing in my room everyday!!

(Did i just admit that outloud?)

    THE HELL I DID

Paulie, where's my LP and handshake??

LOL the girl didn't actually seem to care she was shaking Paul's hand... I would have tried to give him a hug =p

  • A little on the random side, but Paul's too cute!

  • *jaw hangs open* I understand the parts with Paul. (AND I FUCKING LOVE HIM. <33) But the rest of it is......uhm. WTF!?

  • hahaha wow!

  • wtf was THAT??? OMG!

  • i am really speechless...

  • Thanks for this!

Number 4 would have been my choice, too.

Interesting Info about "She's leaving home" - I didn't notice.

  • ah i love it !! i have never seen this before !!;D

  • I think it was really interesting that Melanie Coe inspired Paul's song "She's Leaving Home", and he didn't even realize he'd met her three years earlier.

  • Wouldn't it be cool to live in that era??

  • It would---and it was.....

  • Thats so funny, but very nice, thanks for sharing !!!

  • haha thats so cute!

  • Ahh Pauliiiii!!<33

  • What also caught my attention was that at the end of this clip it cuts to an appearance by Peter Cook and Dudley Moore...do you have the REST of that scene?

  • I have it somewhere on video. Will try & find it & upload.

  • love it

  • What a wonderful peice of Rock & Roll Nostalgia. VERY NICE!

  • I really like the 3rd from the left!!:D

  • The girl second from the left was giving it LARGE!

  • The album she won appears to be "Elvis' Golden Hits"

  • The most amazing fact about this video is that the young girl that won is Melanie Coe. Three years after this broadcast Melanie ran away from home and the article in the newspaper was read by Paul McCartney. This was his inspiration for writing the song "She's Leaving Home" on the Sergeant Pepper album.

  • I looked for this because I remembered the link so it's nice to see someone else spotted it. This has NEVER been mentioned in any books and it makes you wonder did Paul notice the run away story becase he remembered meeting her??? He definetly picked the cut one but she was only 14/15 making this so I'd say it wasn't flirting.

  • Check out the book "A Hard Day's Write" by Steve Turner. He goes into great detail about Melanie and the song along with the origins of many Beatles songs. Quite an interesting read. Paul did not know it was the young girl he had met 3 years prior.

  • @RaggedStaffBassman I know its such an unbelievable coincidence,Amazing fact!

  • Comment removed

  • ell spotted Sir! She must surely be the same girl.

I think a picture of her in 2002 can be found at:

    olveraproperties dot com

She looks very similar, and is still very good looking.

isn't it funny how Paul picked the cute one. :-)

  • Did I hear the name Melanie Coe???

That is the girl who would later inspire Paul's song "She's Leaving Home"

Amazing !!!! And he picked her as the winner too !!! O_O

  • Wonderful, I've been looking for this for years. Saw it 20 yrs ago, still can't understand why paul didn't pick the dark haired girl - she's superb! You have made my day!

  • I agree, she was the better of the 3. When I was growing up my mum listened to Brenda Lee so, my party piece is Jump The Broomstick at every party I go to. This footage was carried out before I was born!

  • They're all so short! :D

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

this is so cute! , i bet paul was like OOOO GIRLSS

  • The girl who won this competition is the double of the girl i was in love with at school!Trouble was,...she wasn't in love with me.Typical.

  • aww...poor u...@least you could watch the beatles to cheer you up init
